About Altometer
General Information
Altometer is a tool to keep track of your alts. With the release of Rift 1.6, item information is now available. Along with character information, Altometer displays a list of all items possessed by all characters with information about who has it, how many, and where to find it.
Use /alt for detailed information on all the slash commands available. In particular, /alt hide and /alt show will hide and show the Altometer window, respectively.
What Altometer Cannot Do
At present, we cannot get information regarding mail or auctions, so items that are put into those systems will reflect as no longer being owned by any of your characters. This is a known limitation of the system, and that functionality will be added once those APIs are exposed. Also, we do not have currency information, so we cannot show character currencies.
Future Work
This is only a rough listing of items...a lot of features will be added soon:
- Separating guild-owned items from personally-owned items
- Displaying equipped items per character
- Searching for particular items across all characters
- Adding filters to restrict what items are shown
- Cleaning up the display
- Displaying item tooltips from within Altometer
Also, we will soon be added in achievement data for characters, once we have gotten the item inventory to a reasonable facsimile of perfection.
- Changed the item window to break items into categories
- Removed the item update spam
- Added item information
- Added icons for character data and item information
- Changed appearance of window
- Shortened the name as it appears in the list
- Grouped names by shard, with appropriate title
- Detailed information appears as a tooltip on mouseover
- Removed much of the spam from the chatlog
- Now listing characters across shards
- Character shard is shown after calling in list
- Altometer now remembers if you had the window shown or hidden
- A reminder of how to show the window appears in the chatlog if the window is defaulted to hidden
- Removed the dependency on LibUnitChange

Can you copy/paste the error message here or email it to Aieny at riftcrafter.com? That'll help me trace the error down and fix it.
Ok, do this: go to the Altometer folder and open items.lua with Notepad. Then, replace everything in the file with the raw code from http://pastebin.com/rmSVPQ82. That should fix the issue. Finally, let me know what shows up as category "none" so I can see what's going on.
I just started to try to use this, so I have no old version to clear out, and it still gives me a bunch of errors when it loads, and then I'm left with 2 windows which seem to have no functionality at all. One is empty, the other lists my characters.
I'd be 'happy' to copy/paste my errors, but alas, I don't see how to do that out of the chat window. Is there a log you write to that I can get the information from.
I'd rather not alt-tab between the game and this chat and type it in that way :)
Here's the base error w/o the stack:
Error: Altometer/items.lua:153:table index is nil In Altometer / loadSettings, event Event.Addon.Startup.End
...I'm left with a window that lists my characters, and then there's 2 icons to click on, the 2nd of which closes that window and shows what I presume is supposed to be a detailed item list, but nothing is in it.
If I were to completely speculate, it's almost as if it's maybe trying to load information that doesn't exist yet, assuming that anyone who uses this has already used it before and has a bunch of existing saved data?
It won't work for me. :(
When I click the bag icon in the Altometer window, I get:
Error: Altometer/items.lua:100: table index is nil
in Altometer / Altometer.BagIcon:LeftClick
stack traceback:
Altometer/items.lua:100: in function 'fItemList'
Altometer/core.lua:495: in function 'fUpdateItemList'
Altometer/core.lua:514: in function <Altometer/core.lua:510>
I want the chance to love this add-on, any suggestions of what I might be doing wrong? Thanks!
I would love ot see this have the use of Altaholic like in WoW -- it was a god send for someone like me with multiple alts, crafting on all and banks full of my packrat adventures :) Keep up the good work.
After some substantial use, I have enjoyed this Addon. However, there are two things I'd like to bring to your attention.
1. I'd love to see information on the occupations/skills the characters have as well. If not their skill level in, for example, Runecrafting, at least that they are my Accounts Runecrafter would be wonderful.
2. There are times where when I type /Alt Show, it repeats the list itself, even outside of the provided window. It seems to repeat the list 2-3 times, exactly, with the font getting brighter in each repetition.
Other than that one tiny little flaw, This is a great addon and I'll keep using it anyway for the information it still provides. Thanks for writing this!
Thanks for your interest in Altometer! As for tradeskills, we don't have the ability via Addons to see that information, so it hasn't been incorporated into Altometer. However, once that information is exposed, it most definitely will be implemented.
I'll check the bug with the /alt show command; I put this Addon aside to work on others while waiting for more of the API to be exposed, but now that we can see item and achievement information, I'm getting back to work on Altometer to include that information for the 1.6 release.
Keep checking back, though...I'm constantly working to improve the Addon as the API matures.
Yes, the Rift UI is very flexible already, but what I really, REALLY miss is Altoholic. :)
