About Herald's Buff Warden Madd Patch

This is an edit of Herald's Buff Warden. The author has not been active since December and there were a few things I wished to add to the buff list.

This release is standalone (a direct copy of his addon with my edits) and does not require the original to work. In fact, I would assume since it is a direct copy it should not be used with his.

Patch 1.6

Now with 100% more sort saving!

Patch 1.5

  • A couple of bug fixes for users who have never used this addon before including the original.
  • Set all the glow and group buffs to off by default for new users.
  • Reconciled Patch versions with Original Versions

Patch 1.4

Bug fix for Omen and Quantum Sight

Patch 1.3

Updated for 1.8 (Please keep me updated on food changes you would like to see)

Removed:

  • Lurking Decay
  • Cavalier
  • Salvation

Patch 1.2

This is a decent update with greatly expanded Group Buff Tracking. The original method is still available. I've added this feature as it will allow you to not only track if your buffs are up, but if you have all the normal Raid Buffs as well. If you are missing a Raid Buff it is very quick and easy to notice and dive down deeper to figure out what buff you are missing. Here is how it works:

  • There are 4 new Buff Groups called Passive, Active, Resist and Other
  • Each Group includes an 'All' Buff that is green if everything in that group is up. This is the one you should leave showing!
  • Each Group then contains all the Buff Types (such as Wisdom) for that group. If your 'All Passive' is Red, you can just use your mouse wheel to cycle through the passive buffs until you find the one you are missing. You can then ask for it to be refreshed.
  • Below I'll go into detail on the buffs currently tracked for each category:

Active Buffs (Endurance, Wisdom, Intelligence, Strength, Dexterity)

  • "Active Endurance",
  • "Life of the Era",

  • "Life of the Ages",

  • If you have an active glow effect, and you toggle to an inactive glow effect, it will now show as GREY so that you know it will overwrite the currently active glow effect.

For defiant, I have added Quantum Sight next to Omen Sight.

I have also added a new category for the 5 character 'Glow Effects' in the game. These items are as below:

From the Original Author: Herald's Buff Warden (version 2.2.6) Use '/hbw' to view available commands.

Buff Warden is a secialized buff monitor designed to make sure you have buffed yourself fully between battles. The interface is made of a small header bar and a list of buff trackers. The header bar contains the current role, a lock/unlock button, a reload trackers button, and a help button. If the header is unlocked, it may be dragged freely.

Use the mouse wheel to cycle between different buffs in trackers that contain more than one buff (such as Shaman Heart spells or Beastmaster Companion States). Click the mouse wheel on a buff tracker to ignore that buff. Left click on any tracked buff to cast it. Limitations in Rift's Addon API prevent the tracker list from updating in combat.

A tracker will (by default) be green if the buff is currently active, yellow if the buff has less than 10 minutes remaining, and red if the character is unbuffed. A tracker will turn grey if it detects a buff that is otherwise equivalent, such as Heroic Blessing and Fanfare of Vigor. Certain buffs (Surging Flames, Righteous Mandate, and Synthesis) are maintained on another target. At the moment the only way to cast these abilities is to target the individual and then click the tracker to cast. This will signal the addon to monitor that individual for the buff. Keep in mind that Righteous Mandate will turn grey if another player's R.M. is on your character, and Synthesis will turn grey if Lifegiving Veil is active.

Trackers can be sorted by visiting the Sorting tab in the options window. Manually sorting trackers is optional; any unsorted trackers will be listed in a random fashion. Tracker sorting is unique to each character, but is identical between different roles on the same character.

Profiles:

Buff Warden uses account-wide profiles to control the layout of the addon. To switch, delete, duplicate, or create profiles, visit the Profile tab in the options window. By default all characters will use the "General" profile, and this profile cannot be deleted. Profiles control the position, lock status, and colors of the trackers. In the future, more options to control the appearance of the addon will be added.

Roles:

Each character can maintain a list of character-specific roles, which control whether each ability is tracked or ignored. By default each role will track all buffs the player can currently cast, but ignore "Omen Sight", "Planar Protection", all creature tracking abilities, and all item buffs. To change what buffs are tracked, visit the Abilities tab in the options window.

In addition to tracking your characters personal buffs, you can also track Group Buffs. If tracked, the Group Buffs tracker will only turn green if you have all the relevant buffs on you. To set which buffs are tracked visit the Group Buffs tab in the options window. Unlike other trackers, clicking on this special tracker will bring you to the relevant setup tab. Every time you log out and log in, the list of tracked group buffs is reset - the list is not reset when changing roles however.

Characters will use the "General" role unless you switch to a different one. To switch between roles, use the command /hbw setrole <role> - if the role doesn't already exist it will be created. After switching to a different role, the tracker display will not update until the reload button is clicked, the command /hbw reload is issued, or an automatic reload is triggered from changing your character's abilities. Because of this, it is suggested to make macros to control switching between roles: hbw setrole Senticar loadequip 1 role 1 OR hbw setrole Senticar (solo) hbw reload

2.2.6.1

Bugfixes:

  • Group Buffs now correctly recognizes that Fanfare of Knowledge gives +Int.

2.2.6

Added:

  • PvP Guild Buffs, "Blood Thirsty" and "Killing Spree" have been added. By default they are ignored.
  • Tracking Group Buffs is now active! See the help to learn more, and visit the Group Buffs tab of the options window to edit which group buffs are monitored. By default this special tracker is ignored.
  • Tracker sorting is now active! See the help to learn more, and visit the Sorting tab of the options window to edit how trackers are sorted.
  • Additional layout options are enabled - tracker size and tracker position. Visit the Layout tab of the options window to use the new options. Changes:
  • Optimization fix for options window. Bugfixes:
  • Tracking item buffs for items you don't have no longer throws an error. If the item cannot be found, the tracker uses a question mark as the icon.
  • Fixed a backend issue with RiftTextfield frames raised in 1.6.1.
  • A Dominator's Charged Shield will now go grey if the mage has another armor active.

2.1.3

Added:

  • Rejoice Defiants, "Kelari Expedition Chocolate Cake" and "Kelari Expedition Cherry Cake" are now in the addon. By default they are both ignored. Sorry for the delay, I'm a horrible horrible Guardian.

2.1.2

Updated for Rift version 1.6.1.

Added:

  • Added Mien of Aggression and Planar Reversal to the addon trackers. Bugfixes:
  • All buffs should now have icons. Including items and that pesky Planar Protection.

2.0.6:

Unfortunately all saved information is erased upgrading to 2.0.6 - this should never occur again.

Added:

  • Surging Flames, Synthesis, and Preservation are now tracked. They, along with Righteous Mandate, are tracked on a target instead of the player.
  • Pets are now tracked as if they were buffs. Warrior companion buffs are now also tracked.
  • All user interface options (including position, colors, etc) are now stored in profiles. Profiles are stored by account instead of character, and each character can use any profile of their choice ("General" by default). Profiles can be messed with in the options window.
  • Option window can now edit tracker colors. Changed:
  • Version checking and internal variable storage was completely rewritten, sadly deleting all saved information.
  • The default role is now "General" instead of none. In addition, roles will be saved from session to session (no need to mess about with /hbw saverole anymore)
  • Delay between tracker buff updating changed from 10 frames to 500 milliseconds.
  • Warning cutoff time for buffs (green/yellow color change) changed from 5 minutes to 10.
  • Massive update to options window, including a new look, new tabs and options, and better updating.
  • Help information updated and moved from the chat log to the options window. Removed:
  • The commands /hbw defaults and /hbw saverole. Bugfixes:
  • Rogues with only 1 weapon enchant will not longer have 2 weapon enchant trackers.
  • Noble/Heroic Blessing is now tracked instead of Life of the Era/Ages if the player has both abilities.
  • Righteous Mandate and Synergize are now both tracked properly.

Wow I miss this so much. Is anyone willing to try to pick it up? I might have to try to learn how to do this just to have one of my all-time faves back hehe

  • #22

As noted by the below users, this mod is no longer being actively maintained and judging from my error reports, would require a decent look by any author wanting to pick it up.

I've moved on to GW2 / PS2 as my primary games and am no longer subscribed to Rift.  I had picked this mod up from the previous author who stopped playing like I have now.  Anyone should feel entitled to grab the code and do some snffing aground to get it updated.

The original author did a great job annotating his code with what everything does and I tried to carry that forward with my edits.

    Best of luck!

  • #21

Please someone fix this mod... It is the best in the game. :)

  • #20

Someone please pick this up and make it compatible to 1.9.x thanks.

This is now completely not working after todays patch.  Bummer as I almost relied on this!  Is there going to be any update or has this been abandoned?

  • #17

Great addon! I'm really liking it a lot, especially for my rogue with all those buffs taking up so much space on my bars. Problem tho, in 1.9:

    Error: performance warning

    stack traceback:

Also, I wonder if there are plans to add the new buff foods and the pre-order weapon runes?

EDIT: Ok, the errors might have been caused by the new "watcher" they put in not allowing enough time so I'm not going to worry about it. I've also been able to add the runes and will probably be able to add the food as well. I love this addon and already don't know how I lived without it!

Patch 1.5 has been released and should be available shortly.  This fixes several issues that new users may encounter and also reduces the number of buffs loaded by default to only those for your character (no glow effects / group buffs to clutter your new addon).

Thank you for the report.  What level of character did you test this on?  Currently there is a bug that if you have no buffs (such as a level 1 character) it will not work.

  • #16

It is, I will do some research on how to add actual localization support.

  • #15

seems to work now with 1.4 after removing the saved files.

is it possible to insert the german abilities? i could send you a list later.

  • #13

Server is up and I did a full reinstall and was able to reproduce your first error.  Reloading it with patch 1.4 I was not able to reproduce your second error.

I have now uploaded a version 1.5 that should have enhanced version tracking to hide things by default.  It may be able to resolve your error.  If you could do a fresh install.  To do so (curse is unable to do a full fresh install) delete the addon using curse.  Then ensure the following two files are removed:

    RIFT Game\Interface\Saved\(Your Email Address)\SavedVariables\ HeraldBuffWarden.lua

    RIFT Game\Interface\Saved\(Your Email Address)\(Your Shard)\(Your Character)\SavedVariables HeraldBuffWarden.lua

Then do a normal install of the addon.

Again, sorry for the error and I appreciate you reporting it.

  • #12

    Yes, there is progress.

Is this your first time using the addon?  If so, when my servers come up I'll try a complete reinstall of it to see if I can reproduce the error.

You said you could access the settings now.  If you could attempt to remove all of the tracked buffs, and then add just a few that you would like to track, then do a /reloadui

Sorry for the error and ty for helping track it down!

  • #11

but now i can access the options, couldn't do it with 1.3

  • #10

    still the same
