Buff Bars and Icons

Please check out the Gadgets:Buffs addon, if you want more advanced buff/debuff tracking.

Quick Start

You will see a round button with a Gear icon in the middle of your screen. Drag this button to where you want it by left clicking and dragging.

Right click on the button and choose 'Add Gadget' to add a gadget to your screen.

Left clicking on the button will unlock (and re-lock) all of your gadgets. When unlocked, Gadgets can be moved by dragging their movement handles (the white gear icon at the top corner of each gadget).

To alter an existing gadget, right click on it's movement handle while gadgets are unlocked, and choose 'Modify Gadget'.

When moving gadgets around on the screen, you can align them to another gadget by dragging the move handle over the top of another move handle. The gadget you are dragging will align itself either horizontally or vertically with it. If you move the gadget too far from the horizontal or vertical axes, alignment mode will turn off (it should hopefully become clear when you try it!).

Grid Snapping

Typing "/gadgets grid 8" for example, will snap all movement and resizes to an 8 pixel grid. Type "/gadgets grid" with no number to reset snapping.

Macros

The raid and group frames allow you to specify macros for various mouse buttons and the mouse wheel. These are standard RIFT macros, with a couple of extra Gadgets features:

Use @unit to refer to the unit the frame is showing. For example "cast @unit Healing Breath".

Use modifer it you want:

cast [shift] @unit Symbol of the Torch
cast Symbol of the Sun

Use the following syntax to have a macro carry out different actions depending on your current role:

:if role == 1 or role == 6 then
target @unit
:end
:if role == 2  then
target @unit
cast Healing Spray
:end
:if role == 3 or role == 4 or role == 5 then
target @unit
cast [shift] @unit Symbol of the Torch
cast Symbol of the Sun
:end

Profiles

Save, load and delete your profiles. How to save, load and delete your profiles you can see on my video guide http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tr7bcidyFv8&;

Notes

I have borrowed some images from other people. I believe the licenses on these sources allow this, but if not, I will replace them.

  • Various bar textures from LibSharedMedia (WoW addon)
  • Orb images from Roth UI (WoW addon)
  • A few images from the Rift Fansite Kit

If you store your addons not in the my documents folder. This case you need to manualy download Gadgets but not with Curse Client.

    Thanks for letting me know - I'll check it now. I'm assuming you had a prestige bar on screen?

  • #177

    no, just the regular UI's XP bar and the Planar Attunement bar.

    this is my screen http://img198.imageshack.us/img198/8051/20130218203328.jpg

  • #170

    so can set differnt macros in the unit frames for different rolls is that a bit much right now

  • #171

    If I understand your question correctly, you need to enter a macro like this:

    :if role == 1 then
    cast @unit ASpell
    :end
    :if role == 2 or role == 3 then
    cast @unit ADifferentSpell
    cast @unit AndAnotherSpell
    :end

    I realise this isn't as friendly as the way other addons handle macros. I personally like to have a single macro script that covers everything, but if I get chance, I may look at making a more user-friendly macro editor at some stage.

  • #182

    Yep, you should be able to put:

    raid Battle Rezzing %t

    Hopefully the %t will pick up the target of the ability, and not your current target. This is down to RIFT, and I'm not sure exactly how it does it (can't test right now).

  • #180

    can i do casting brez At %t or would i have to do something else?

    more or less can i get a /raid in the macro for brez?

    i have found a little bug ant thoughts?

    i set up raid frames 10X2 at the bottem of my screen. set it to show only in 10 and 20man raids workds great.

    the bug...

    i set up a group frame to sit were the raid frame sits for randoms and stuff. set it to show in group only..

    sems to be fine till i get in a raid then for some reason the pary frame pops up randomly till i hit reload ui..

    then it goes away for a bit then pops right back up...

  • #169

    best addon dev so far you rock.

  • #168

    I think a fix for that is actually already going into the next release, thanks to Adelea who has also noticed it and posted a fix. This should be up today hopefully.

    Good evening,

    I may be missing this somewhere if so if someone could explain to me how to do then that would be great, but if isnt currently implimented. I would like to see a way through gadgets that I can make my "Targets" debuffs bigger or even custimizeable if possible. Thanks.

  • #165

    There is a way to give yourself highly configurable target debuffs. Install the Gadgets:Buffs addon, which will give you two new types of gadgets - Buff Bars and Buff Icons.

    Turn off the display of debuffs on your target frame, and then add a "Buff Icons" gadget that is tracking your target. This is extremely configurable, and should hopefully give you all of the options you need to display debuffs however you want.

    What I actually tend to do, is use a large Buff Icons gadget for my own buffs above my player frame, and then use a "Buff Bars" gadget to show debuffs above my target. This lets me time DoTs more easily.

  • #159

    hi, im not sure if im using it incorrectly but i cant seem to "save" the gadget as such, everytime i reload it it just goes, am i missing a save option?

  • #160

    No, you're not missing anything. Any gadgets you add should simply stay there. I've never seen that happen. Which gadgets are you adding?

  • #166

    It definitely sounds like something is broken within your addons folder.

    What I would do, is log out of RIFT, and then rename your Addons folder (e.g. AddonsOLD). Fire up RIFT, and go into the Addons option, and choose 'Open Addons Folder', to create a new addons folder and to ensure you're looking in the same place as RIFT is expecting.

    Then, one by one, starting with Gadgets, install the latest version of each addon that you're using and test it in RIFT. As long as you keep your old Saved folder, each addon should pick up it's settings so you won't lose all of your configuration.

    If you install an addon and Gadgets starts to break at that point, I would love to know which one it is.

    If Gadgets still breaks on a completely clean addons folder, you could try also renaming your "Saved" directory so that you have a completely clean Interface folder. If it still breaks at this point, I really wouldn't know what to suggest!
