Buff Bars and Icons

Please check out the Gadgets:Buffs addon, if you want more advanced buff/debuff tracking.

Quick Start

You will see a round button with a Gear icon in the middle of your screen. Drag this button to where you want it by left clicking and dragging.

Right click on the button and choose 'Add Gadget' to add a gadget to your screen.

Left clicking on the button will unlock (and re-lock) all of your gadgets. When unlocked, Gadgets can be moved by dragging their movement handles (the white gear icon at the top corner of each gadget).

To alter an existing gadget, right click on it's movement handle while gadgets are unlocked, and choose 'Modify Gadget'.

When moving gadgets around on the screen, you can align them to another gadget by dragging the move handle over the top of another move handle. The gadget you are dragging will align itself either horizontally or vertically with it. If you move the gadget too far from the horizontal or vertical axes, alignment mode will turn off (it should hopefully become clear when you try it!).

Grid Snapping

Typing "/gadgets grid 8" for example, will snap all movement and resizes to an 8 pixel grid. Type "/gadgets grid" with no number to reset snapping.

The raid and group frames allow you to specify macros for various mouse buttons and the mouse wheel. These are standard RIFT macros, with a couple of extra Gadgets features:

Use @unit to refer to the unit the frame is showing. For example "cast @unit Healing Breath".

Use modifer it you want:

cast [shift] @unit Symbol of the Torch
cast Symbol of the Sun

Use the following syntax to have a macro carry out different actions depending on your current role:

:if role == 1 or role == 6 then
target @unit
:if role == 2  then
target @unit
cast Healing Spray
:if role == 3 or role == 4 or role == 5 then
target @unit
cast [shift] @unit Symbol of the Torch
cast Symbol of the Sun

Save, load and delete your profiles. How to save, load and delete your profiles you can see on my video guide;

I have borrowed some images from other people. I believe the licenses on these sources allow this, but if not, I will replace them.

  • Various bar textures from LibSharedMedia (WoW addon)
  • Orb images from Roth UI (WoW addon)
  • A few images from the Rift Fansite Kit

If you store your addons not in the my documents folder. This case you need to manualy download Gadgets but not with Curse Client.

    I should just check, you are using Gadgets:Buffs for this aren't you, and a Buff Icon gadget?

    It should just work. If it's not, it's quite possibly a problem with the information we're getting back from the API because stacks are tracked whenever they are available from the game.

    Unfortunately, I didn't get chance to try this out last night (guild crisis!), but I will do as soon as I can get on.

  • #155

    Yes, it's the defiler's rage blight buff. Although I'm trying to track my stacks, and just adding "rage" to the filter doesn't track the stacks, it only shows the actual buff.

  • #149

    so when i do add gadgets and slect ui and set it to pet i can not get it to show the pet? the gadgets does show up it is just an empty gadgetbox.

  • #153

    I'm looking into this. There seem to be lots of pet related issues at the moment in various addons, so it's possible something has broken at Trion's end (I don't treat them any differently to any other unit, so they should "just work").

  • #145

    I can't find a FAQ or anything and I'm trying to find a way to copy my Gadgets between characters so I don't have to set them back up. I have two accounts, so copying would really make things easier. I've looked all over but can't seem to find any configuration file to copy over. There must be way tho. How could I do it?

    Thanks in advance.

  • #147

    To copy layouts between characters on the same account, you can right-click the Gadget button and choose "Import Layout".

    If you have mulitple accounts, you'd have to copy your saved variables between the characters. You should be able to copy Interface/Saved/_server_/_character_/wtLibGadget.lua from one character to another. I've probably got the naming slightly wrong, but hopefully it'll be clear if you have a look.

    Yep, I knew it. I found that option just after I posted and didn't get back here in time. The option was kind of buried by the button below it, so I hadn't noticed it til now.

    The bit about transferring the file between the accounts was just what I needed. I wasn't sure what file I should be looking for so now we're good to go!

    Thanks much and thank you for this wonder system! I'm loving it more every day.

  • #144

    Two things!

    1) Any chance of adding a horizontal/verticle option for Raid Frame gadget? Currently, it is available only for Group/Party Frames.

    2) Any chance of implementing HoT tracking for Party/Raid frames? This is a must for healers!

  • #146

    The horizontal/vertical option for raid frames is sort-of hidden in the shape you choose.

    4x5 is vertical (4 columns, with 5 frames in each column), 5x4 is horizontal (4 rows, with 5 frames in each row).

    Basic HoT tracking is on the way. I'm going with coloured boxes in the corners like Grid had (or probably still has), configurable by which HoT to track. There isn't enough space for much more than that unfortunately.

  • #151

    Sounds awesome to me! Thanks!

  • #143

    never mind /gadget reset worked

    Can you add either marks for every 10% on the arc gadget or place a % number at the bottom or something like that. Make it easier to tell when I need to switch abilities at 30% health.

    Also is there a buff/debuff bar gadget?

  • #141

    The percentage display would be easiest, though a segmented arc could look really cool. At the moment, the HUD Arcs are a straight replacement for Archimedes, but I guess I should add some new features as well.

    Try Gadgets:Buffs, it gives you very configurable buff bars and buff icons.

  • #136

    So looking forward to seeing the layering issue fixed, I'm itching to use some of my images.

  • #137

    That worries me a little, it was supposed to be fixed ages ago :(
