Buff Bars and Icons

Please check out the Gadgets:Buffs addon, if you want more advanced buff/debuff tracking.

Quick Start

You will see a round button with a Gear icon in the middle of your screen. Drag this button to where you want it by left clicking and dragging.

Right click on the button and choose 'Add Gadget' to add a gadget to your screen.

Left clicking on the button will unlock (and re-lock) all of your gadgets. When unlocked, Gadgets can be moved by dragging their movement handles (the white gear icon at the top corner of each gadget).

To alter an existing gadget, right click on it's movement handle while gadgets are unlocked, and choose 'Modify Gadget'.

When moving gadgets around on the screen, you can align them to another gadget by dragging the move handle over the top of another move handle. The gadget you are dragging will align itself either horizontally or vertically with it. If you move the gadget too far from the horizontal or vertical axes, alignment mode will turn off (it should hopefully become clear when you try it!).

Grid Snapping

Typing "/gadgets grid 8" for example, will snap all movement and resizes to an 8 pixel grid. Type "/gadgets grid" with no number to reset snapping.

The raid and group frames allow you to specify macros for various mouse buttons and the mouse wheel. These are standard RIFT macros, with a couple of extra Gadgets features:

Use @unit to refer to the unit the frame is showing. For example "cast @unit Healing Breath".

Use modifer it you want:

cast [shift] @unit Symbol of the Torch
cast Symbol of the Sun

Use the following syntax to have a macro carry out different actions depending on your current role:

:if role == 1 or role == 6 then
target @unit
:if role == 2  then
target @unit
cast Healing Spray
:if role == 3 or role == 4 or role == 5 then
target @unit
cast [shift] @unit Symbol of the Torch
cast Symbol of the Sun

Save, load and delete your profiles. How to save, load and delete your profiles you can see on my video guide;

I have borrowed some images from other people. I believe the licenses on these sources allow this, but if not, I will replace them.

  • Various bar textures from LibSharedMedia (WoW addon)
  • Orb images from Roth UI (WoW addon)
  • A few images from the Rift Fansite Kit

If you store your addons not in the my documents folder. This case you need to manualy download Gadgets but not with Curse Client.

    Would it be possible to make a separate Gadget for buffs? I like the way they're displayed but I do not like that they are attached to my unit frame, and so small. Love the addon!

  • #132

    Try downloading Gadgets:Buffs

    It's a separate addon to Gadgets that provides buff icons and buff bars. I really should include it in the main addon, as it's so fundamental.

  • #124

    Great addon - I love it.

    Is it possible to add the ability for macros on the Unit and Group frames as they are available on the Raid frames?

    Also, I have "solo" checked on the Raid frames, but I dont see my own frame when I am not partied.

  • #127

    Yep, I need this functionality too. I've been meaning to add macros to group frames for ages!

    The solo thing is possibly a bit confusing. The raid frames will only ever show group members, so if you're not in a party/raid, nothing will show up.

    The tick boxes are common to every type of gadget, and just determine when the gadget will be visible. They don't actually effect how the gadget works in any way.

  • #123

    Is it possible to keybind abilities to mouse for group/raid fames (like CBH addon)?

  • #126

    It's possible for the raid frames, but not currently for the group frames, which is really a bug. The two should be the same. You need to use the Macros tab on the raid frame, and then assign a macro to various mouse buttons.

    I don't do any sort of pretty macro building from a list of abilities though, so you need to paste/type a macro against the relevant mouse button.

    For handling different roles, there is a special bit of syntax, for example:

    :if role == 1 or role == 2 or role == 4 then
    cast @unit Healing Breath
    cast @unit Healing Flare
    :if role == 3 then
    cast @unit Healing Spray

  • #129

    It was... the group frames now have macros :)

  • #128

    Sounds good! Think the bug will be fixed next release?

  • #122

    Ok, I've got an issue. When using the simple unit frame, it does not show marks on my unit frame. Anyway i can make it show the marks on my unit frame like it does with standard?

  • #125

    I didn't realise that was missing. Yes, that should be simple to add in.

  • #120

    I will start by saying i love your add on ..but in my case the other day my button to add /move/or create buttons disappeared from the screen where i had it under the map ..tried uninstalling/and reinstalling..did not not work ..tried disableing everything but gadgets and did not help either at this ppoint i will try anything ..even tried command lines like /gadgets config no luck .So any help i would be thankful for

    Well after being annoyed by the teleporter add on since all it showed was my sou recall i decided to disable it and sure enough your button showed back up so problem fixed

    Sorry, getting behind on checking comments...

    The command to reset the button to the centre of the screen is "/gadget reset". However, it looks like you found a different solution, and the reset command probably wouldn't have helped.

    Thank you for the quick update! Keep up the great work, we really appreciate it!

    I agree. I love this addon.

    Thanks for all the feedback. I'm trying to squash bugs and performance issues with the existing code, while also working on the new frames. In terms of an ETA, all I can say is that I am working on them now. I should have an early version out very soon (within the next few days), with my plan being to add more and more options over time to increase the flexibility once an initial version is out and stable.

    In terms of the sab charges, I'm not sure what's causing that issue. I can roll out my rogue and see if I can replicate it (never played a Sab), but where a specific buff/debuff doesn't work as expected, it will be down to the RIFT API, as Gadgets treats every single buff/debuff in exactly the same way.

    The same goes for target-of-target - there should be nothing special about any particular unit specifier, the code is the same. I do use target-of-target myself, and haven't seen any issues. Is this still happening with the latest version?
