Lost Your Button?

Buff Bars and Icons

Quick Start

You will see a round button with a Gear icon in the middle of your screen. Drag this button to where you want it by left clicking and dragging.

Right click on the button and choose 'Add Gadget' to add a gadget to your screen.

Left clicking on the button will unlock (and re-lock) all of your gadgets. When unlocked, Gadgets can be moved by dragging their movement handles (the white gear icon at the top corner of each gadget).

To alter an existing gadget, right click on it's movement handle while gadgets are unlocked, and choose 'Modify Gadget'.

When moving gadgets around on the screen, you can align them to another gadget by dragging the move handle over the top of another move handle. The gadget you are dragging will align itself either horizontally or vertically with it. If you move the gadget too far from the horizontal or vertical axes, alignment mode will turn off (it should hopefully become clear when you try it!).

Grid Snapping

Typing "/gadgets grid 8" for example, will snap all movement and resizes to an 8 pixel grid. Type "/gadgets grid" with no number to reset snapping.

Macros

The raid and group frames allow you to specify macros for various mouse buttons and the mouse wheel. These are standard RIFT macros, with a couple of extra Gadgets features:

Use @unit to refer to the unit the frame is showing. For example "cast @unit Healing Breath".

Use modifer it you want:

cast [shift] @unit Symbol of the Torch
cast Symbol of the Sun

Use the following syntax to have a macro carry out different actions depending on your current role:

:if role == 1 or role == 6 then
target @unit
:end
:if role == 2  then
target @unit
cast Healing Spray
:end
:if role == 3 or role == 4 or role == 5 then
target @unit
cast [shift] @unit Symbol of the Torch
cast Symbol of the Sun

Notes

I have borrowed some images from other people. I believe the licenses on these sources allow this, but if not, I will replace them.

  • Various bar textures from LibSharedMedia (WoW addon)
  • Orb images from Roth UI (WoW addon)
  • A few images from the Rift Fansite Kit

If you store your addons not in the my documents folder. This case you need to manualy download Gadgets but not with Curse Client.

    Hi,

    The built in portraits aren't available to us unfortunately. The best we could probably do is to put a static picture there based on the calling of the unit (ie. the cleric/mage/warrior/rogue logos).

    The other suggestions are all possible, and all make sense. I'll try to include them in an update in the near future.

    wow getting there, anyway to change the opacity of the uf?  Also what abotu the colors, its coming along. also maybe the height of the mana bar so its 50/50?  Its good to see your coming thru with this.  I havent seen any updates on nk for a LONG time.  Youre always up to date with your mods :)

    TBH, this is a quick hack because I got fed up with the diagonal texture. The customizable frames are going to be fundamentally different in the way they work.

    Without going into too much technical detail, the current frames are built using a very flexible template mechanism. While this allows all sorts of different unit frames, it makes user configuration *very* difficult to implement (because Gadgets has no way of knowing what a particular template actually looks like). 

    When the alternative is available (should be fairly soon), it's going to have lots more config options, but it wouldn't be possible to create something really unusual, like the Health Orb, with it. You'll be ticking boxes to choose which bars and indicators to show, specifying heights, positions, colours, textures etc. The end result will be a frame much like the current "Standard Frame" or "Raid Frame" template, but configured to look how you want it. I believe this will satisfy the requirements of most users, while leaving the template approach available for more advanced usage.

    Try typing...

    /gadget reset

    ...into your chat window. That should put the button in the middle of the screen.

    Hey Wildtide,

    I love your addon! Your Range Finder is absolutely amazing for PvP as a Rogue. I was wondering, with the upcoming release of 1.11, if you mofify the Combo points on Rogue so they don't disappear after I clear my enemy target? After more than a year of playing RIFT, I can't get used to the sefl combo points on my character portrait for a bit. Is this feasible?

    Is there a way to make the raid frame moveable without having to always unlock and then lock it?  I'd just like a free-floating frame that I can move around easily.

    Yep, Zorba is "the" Trion dev as far as addons are concerned.

    Thanks, but I don't think posting would help. Zorba does want to add these things in, but he currently has other priorities around the launch of Storm Legion which mean the addon API isn't getting quite as much attention as it used to.

    Once SL launches, we should get back on track (hopefully!).

    Is "Zorba" one of the Trion devs or something?  Would it help if I posted similar comments/questions on the rift forums?
