Lost Your Button?

Buff Bars and Icons

Please check out the Gadgets:Buffs addon, if you want more advanced buff/debuff tracking.

Quick Start

You will see a round button with a Gear icon in the middle of your screen. Drag this button to where you want it by left clicking and dragging.

Right click on the button and choose 'Add Gadget' to add a gadget to your screen.

Left clicking on the button will unlock (and re-lock) all of your gadgets. When unlocked, Gadgets can be moved by dragging their movement handles (the white gear icon at the top corner of each gadget).

To alter an existing gadget, right click on it's movement handle while gadgets are unlocked, and choose 'Modify Gadget'.

When moving gadgets around on the screen, you can align them to another gadget by dragging the move handle over the top of another move handle. The gadget you are dragging will align itself either horizontally or vertically with it. If you move the gadget too far from the horizontal or vertical axes, alignment mode will turn off (it should hopefully become clear when you try it!).

Grid Snapping

Typing "/gadgets grid 8" for example, will snap all movement and resizes to an 8 pixel grid. Type "/gadgets grid" with no number to reset snapping.

Macros

The raid and group frames allow you to specify macros for various mouse buttons and the mouse wheel. These are standard RIFT macros, with a couple of extra Gadgets features:

Use @unit to refer to the unit the frame is showing. For example "cast @unit Healing Breath".

Use modifer it you want:

cast [shift] @unit Symbol of the Torch
cast Symbol of the Sun

Use the following syntax to have a macro carry out different actions depending on your current role:

:if role == 1 or role == 6 then
target @unit
:end
:if role == 2  then
target @unit
cast Healing Spray
:end
:if role == 3 or role == 4 or role == 5 then
target @unit
cast [shift] @unit Symbol of the Torch
cast Symbol of the Sun

Notes

I have borrowed some images from other people. I believe the licenses on these sources allow this, but if not, I will replace them.

  • Various bar textures from LibSharedMedia (WoW addon)
  • Orb images from Roth UI (WoW addon)
  • A few images from the Rift Fansite Kit

If you store your addons not in the my documents folder. This case you need to manualy download Gadgets but not with Curse Client.

    I really like the range finder, very nice.  I see that there are plans to add player radar.  Will this basicly open a window that shows how close fellow raid members are to you?

    since NkThings is basically done being worked on, you ever think about making the UF look a little more like NkThings, I love your configuation just I cant quite get it to look like the unit frames from NkThings

    I've just had a look at the nkThings screenshots, and I can't see any reason I couldn't create a template that looked very similar. When I've finished the current set of things I'm working on, I'll have a go.

    nkThings isn't actually dead as far as I know, though. While there probably won't be many (or any) additional features added, Silvanoshei has picked up maintenance so the addon should continue to work.

    I absolutely love this mod after only fussing around with it for 40 mins over my lunchbreak today. A couple questions:

    1. Is it possible to scale the Health Orb style unit frames?  I have my UI reduced to like 65% or so usually and they're much smaller than I'd like.

    2. Would it be possible to get a gadget to track server latency?

    Thanks for the great mod, been looking for something a bit simpler than MyUI.

    Scaling the health orbs should be possible, though getting the font scaling right might take a bit of trial and error. I'll give it a go.

    With the latency, we have no way to measure that unfortunately - the API doesn't give us a call to find it out.

    Import/export

    Hi love this addon :) is there a way to export from one setup and import to another?

    Yep, assuming you're using the latest release (0.3.74 or later). When you right click on the Gadget button, there's an option to 'Import Layout'. This will let you choose another of your characters to copy all of the settings from.

    Like the Addon man, Great job and Thanks for all the hard work! Couple suggestions;

    1. Make a way to have only my buffs on the target, WITHOUT getting rid of the NPC's buffs. Example - When a boss hits enrage, you can only see the enrage buff if you have all buffs to show on the boss.

    2. Make a gadget to show if your PvP flagged or not. Having a unit frame on myself, I can not tell if i'm PvP Flagged or not.

    3. On the raid frames, there is no option to show debuffs on targets. The only one that does not show debuffs in the main raid frames are the default setting one. I like the others but would like to -not- see all debuffs on players.

    I love your addon, but for my targets debuffs it does 2 per row then starts a new row. I was wondering if there was a way I could extend the debuffs from 2 to 4 because how I have my ui setup currently with only 2 per row on debuffs i have to turn off show only my debuffs cause they fill my ui.

    I am (still) working on the ability to change the settings for all aspects of a unit frame. It's a really big piece of work unfortunately, so please be patient. i should have a partial version of the new functionality ready to release fairly soon though.

    I love your addon! There are three things that I think could really improve this addon. I think the fading of bars for players that are out of range is kind of dim, might want to think about decreasing their opacity a little more. Secondly, adding an option to have heals over time pictures show up on players bars instead of having to use a seperate mod. Thirdly, You should allow us to set how big the debuff are on players bars. Other than that, its great and I want to thank you for taking the time to make this for us! I really appreicate it and I'm sure many other players do as well.

    Please see the comment above for a link to a high level description of how I'm intending to allow a lot more customization. This should eventually give you enough options to let you do pretty much everything you want.
