About Notepad

A simple notepad addon that allows you to save text notes.

Notes are saved in account-wide profiles, and thus one character's notes can be easily viewed/modified by another character.

Currently, the only way to open Notepad is to type: /notepad
To reset the UI(not the profiles) to default, type /notepad reset
Please note that resetting notepad will revert all unsaved changes.

- Increased width and height of text area
- Darkened text area a bit
- Now, when you click anywhere on the text area, it will allow you to start editing the text. (You no longer have to click directly on the line of the text.)
- Some backend UI optimizations. (Thanks adelea.)

This would be great... if there was a text wrap or enter worked. Blah.

this really comes in handy for keeping detailed notes about my guild - but it could really use a bigger font size. this is incredibly tiny, and hurts the eyes.

Cheers for this, extremely useful utility.

Something in the latest version prevents me from pressing enter, so all notes are in one line.

Great addon! But I was wondering how to toggle text auto-wrap so that I can see more than just the one small section of the paragraph I'm typing at a time. Currently, the only way I've found to do this is to hit Enter as I go, to break it up into lots of shorter lines, but that gets ugly fast whenever the paragraph needs to be edited or copied and pasted elsewhere.

Something in a recent Rift patch made it so the "Enter" key seems broken in Notepad now. Both my wife and I are having the same issue. We can enter text normally but can't press Enter to start a new line.

Thanks and keep up the great work, we love this addon.

Thank you + one little error + a wish

My computer crashed recently so I'm downloading all my old addons. It's long past due for me to thank you for taking the time to create this one. Thank you!

This addon is perfect - I can copy & paste at the AH & keep notes across all my toons about what is needed on each.

The only error I've encountered is that after saving & closing notepad, & then trying to interact with the keyboard, the keystrokes are still logged into notepad. So, after closing notepad & trying to move forward, I get a "w" inserted where the cursor last was.

If you are accepting wishes, I'd like it to be a little easier to swap between notepads. Currently, if I want a notepad that is just for the mage, I have to type in "mage" or whatever. Then to swap back to the shared file, I type in "default". It's just a tad cumbersome.

But, anyhoo, thanks again for taking the time to create this wonderful, time-saving addon!

    Bad eyesight

First I want to say thank you for this addon. I got soo tired of having scraps of paper laying around with all kinds of recipes and mats. Is there any way to add the ability to change the font size? My text is soo small it is hard to read if I put in alot of text.

Thank you very much! I'm really glad that you've taken the time to create this addon. It's super easy to use, and has helped me organize my alts, crafts, and guild. Notepad is nearly perfect! It's only fault would be that I have to type everything myself. Now, if you managed to incorporate a telepathic input system I'd be willing to award you the full five points. hehe -- I kid! Well, maybe there's a little truth in it :P In all seriousness it would be nifty to have a more intuitive input system, like being able hotlink quests, items, spells, crafting recipes, et cetera. I have no idea if this is possible, or worth the hassle of programming it, but it is the only improvement I can think of. Kudos! And, again, thank you!!

Hi Heeelp. Thanks for your input.

Your first half-sarcastic suggestion is not possible as far as I know. If we had the tools to do so, then it would still require a full fledged library that handles auto completion of words based on a dictionary. It is extremely elaborate and memory intensive.

The second suggestion, which I like quite a bit, is not possible yet. Once the API allows us to imitiate functionality similar to dragging an item or ability into the chat window or macro window, I will definitely look into adding support for this functionality in Notepad.
