About RareTracker

RareTracker is my take on a rare-mob hunting addon.

If you are in a zone with Rare mobs, then RareTracker will display 2 things.

1. A window listing rare mobs, distance to their spawn point and an arrow showing COMPASS direction

This window can be moved by dragging the title bar around whilst holding the left mouse button.

Clicking with the left mouse button on the darker green MODE: line, will toggle between Available and ALL modes.

Left clicking on any of the elements (arrow/name/range) will toggle the inclusion of that named mob from the
list. This can be used (along with Available mode) to only show the ones you are still interested in finding.

Right clicking on any of these elements will toggle the coloration of the entry. Useful for marking you've visted that location.

In ALL mode, the excluded ones are shown, but their name is coloured Red - they can be clicked to toggle
inclusion status as normal.

If you RIGHT click the MODE: line, it will show a red bar with 2 labels - NAME: and RANGE: - moving the mousewheel
up/down over these labels will cause the textsize used in the tracker to change.

2. A small round minimap icon. If this is in black/white it can be dragged around by holding leftmouse button. Right clicking will change it into a color icon. Left clicking the coloured icon will switch between green/red states. In red state, all other UI elements are disabled and hidden.

3. An icon showing a white diamond on a red, green or gray background.

If it is black/white it can be moved by dragging it around, whilst holding the left mouse button.

Right clicking will toggle between locked (red/green) and movable states (gray)

It can be resized by using the mousewheel up/down whilst hovering over it.

The icon will have a green background if there is a macro associated with it, or red if there is not.

A macro is built and added to the icon for all rare mobs that appear in the tracker and are within 300m of your current location.

The icon can be left-clicked to activate the macro that is associated with it.

There are a few /raretracker commands that can be used:

    /raretracker background - toggles display of gray background
    /raretracker text - toggles text glow effect
    /raretracker reset - to reset locations of buttons/windows.

3.00v02.R:
+ Updated layout of tracker so that it isnt quite as long! 16 rows per column
+ Added an autohide option + autohide timer slider. If active the tracker will disppear after X seconds, and reappear when you click its target button

    Missing Mob

    I noticed that in Eastern holdings Plaguefang is missing.  Possibly one of the easiest to get to/check on since many go into the zone via the nearby portal.  He is at (approximately) 7843,7408

    Hi,

    since the last couple of updates - i can no longer left click on a mob name and turn it red to remove it from the available list - i can still right click and turn them green, but this is no use - can you please advise - i have tried to remove and re-install and this has not corrected this problem.

    For the rare spawn Vengeful Spirit in Silverwood. What you really need to target is Hidden Crypt. Once youve damaged it enough then you get the Spirit. So Hidden Crypt would be the better target to have on spawns list.

    what if you dont have a mousewheel?  Also next question can this work like the other rare add on, meaning an alert will pop up and it will auto target?

    Do mice exist w/out scroll wheels ???

    I can certainly make an alert popup if people want that.

    There is no way for an addon to auto-target anything - are you sure the other addon does this? If so, I would love to know how!

    yes hun it did, and yes i have been using a trackball since 1998! Lol, and it was called RareDar, can you make it pop up and alert like something found, raredar did

    I downloaded again and now the button shows up in docker but nothing happens when I click on it.

    EDIT: I was sure I was in an area where there should have been rare mobs but anyway, once I zoned it just popped up. It's been working just fine ever since. Thanks for this great addon!

    Are you somewhere it would normally show ?

    It hides itself in zones w/ no rare mobs anyway - if the docker icon is gray, it will also hide in zones that do have rare mobs.

    Getting this error now from the last update. If ignored - no mobs are shown in the tracker at all in any zones.

    EDIT: deleted and re-installed from curse client - and was previous version again 2.01r3 that works ok - tried updating again - same error - have reverted to old version for the time being.

    EDIT - 2.01r4a has corrected this issue

    Thank you for making this addon! There's just one thing. It would be great if the player could turn the menu off and on by him-/herself.

    Hi,

    1) It should only be visible in zones that have Rare mobs - so if you are in a city or a dungeon or a raid, it should hide itself. And then when you are somewhere that has rare mobs, it should show itself. If it is not doing this, then let me know what zones it isnt hiding/showing in.

    2) The window is sized for the text! The icon is the height of the 2 text elements, and the window is the width of the longest named rare mob the tracker knows about (I dont like windows resizing themselves after I've placed them, since they often expand over something else!)

    It does take a fair bit of space - but if you set it to available (rather than All), and click off the ones you no longer need, then the amount of (vertical) space it needs does drop off quickly.
