About Lootomatic

Since Frogster latest patch to version 3.03 there are huge problems with certain addons. I have solved these issues in my addons, but when you are using an older addon, that has not been updated since that patch, you may encounter problems with every addon you have installed! But there is a solution. Install one of the following addons, they provide a workaround for bugged older addons.

"Lootomatic v1.3" - English

Lootomatic is an addon, which handles (probably) everything about looting and lootdistribution. It combines many functions of already existing addons under one easy controlable interface, but also provides many new functions, that haven't been available by now.

  • Auto-Backup:
    Now Lootomatic can auto backup your filter settings from the Global SaveVariable.lua in the one who exist per char. That is necessay because the Global crashed too often and some people dont't make a Backup every day
    You can turn this features on / off in the settings

  • Searching beyond the borders :
    You can search and edit beyond the border of your char now the filter settings. If you wish to add to another char you must type it with hand (CharName) like ist will display in the itemfilter list. You can turn this features on / off in the settings the display of other char

  • Rollingsettings:
    With this function it is possible to roll also on white items. That is intended for a fair distribution of runes during a run through an instance or farming items for dailyquests in cooperation.
    You can also change the rollsetting, when you are not in a party right now. At the moment you create a new party, the rollsettings will be automatically setted to your selection. So if you do one run through an instance after another, you dont have to set the same settings again and again.

  • AutoLoot:
    Killed monsters can be looted quickly, with the possibility to loot only items up to a specified rarity. In example it is possible to loot only white, green and blue items, while purple or rarer items wont be touched and remain in the bootywindow.
    There is an additional setting that disables autolooting for bossmonsters, plus you can disable it manually by holding down the shift key while looting the monster.

  • Autopass and Autogreed:
    When you are in a party and the loot is distributed by rolling, you have the possibility to let the addon do the rolling job for you. You can choose upto which rarity you want to pass or greed on an item. The appropriate selection will be highlighted until a selectable delay has passed.

  • Itemfilter:
    As looting- and rollingbehaviour based only on the rarity of the items is most off the time not enough, you can add a list of itemnames, that should be looted/rolled differently. You can also use some keywords that count for every itemname with the spcific type, i.e. $ammo for all types of ammunition, or $rune2 for Grade 2 runes.
    You can add these entries either in common for all of your characters, as well as special rules, that only count for the currently played character.
    Basically you can write all these itemnames into the list, but there are some functions that makes your life easier:
    You can rightclick every itemlink in the chat, where you will find an additional entry in the dropdownmenu, allowing to add a filterrule.
    There is always an extension of your bag, a small symbol located on the upper right corner, simply drag the item of your choice onto it.

  • Display Systemmessages of Lootomatic:
    You can select, in which tabs of the chatframe messages of Lootomatic get written and in which color. You can find this setting as usual in the chatsettings of the appropriate tab.

  • Hiding Rollresults:
    Especially when rolling on all rarities (even white), the chat gets overflooded with rollresult-messages. So there is a possibility to hide these lines for every possible rarity.

  • Change the position of RollFrames:
    You can alter the position of the rollframes, by placing the first of them and then adjust the distance between the others with a slider, either up or down.

  • Dropping Questitems:
    The newly integrated confirmation-diaglogue when dropping questitems has been replaced with the regular one. Its really annoying, to enter "delete" everytime you want to drop a questitem you dont need...

  • Controlable via a single Minimap-Button:
    The addon can be controlled via a single button, that shows the current settings in a tooltip on the one hand, and provides access to every setting via a dropdown.

  • Integrated in Addonmanager:
    The addon can be disabled via the Addonmanager, there is also an accesspoint to the Itemfilter.

  • Integrated in AddonConfig:
    When AddonConfig is installed, you will find the settings for Lootomatic in the ingame-settingsmenu.

Unpack the Archive and move the Folder "Lootomatic" into "Runes of Magic\Interface\Addons". If this is your first Addon, then these folders won't exist, in that case you have to create them manually. After you have done this, just start the game as you always do. After login, you should see a line in the Chatwindow, informing you that the addon has been loaded.

If you want to update to a newer version, just replace the Folder "Lootomatic" with the new one, thats all thats necessary. When you start the game, there will be a message in the chat, informing you that a new version was detected and you should check your settings. These will be all resetted to standardvalues to prevent problems, except for the itemfilterlist, this will be imported to the new version without any loss of data.

If you are using the CurseClient, you dont have to care about anything, everything will be done automatically.

The addon can be fully configurated via the minimapbutton.
If you are using the addons "Addonmanager" and/or "AddonConfig", there are additional possibilites.

Again I want to thank the guys from all over the world for translating my prior versions!
Everytime, I release a new version, it will be released only for german and english clients and afterwards an update will be released, containing the additional languages. If you want your language to be added, open either the english or german localesfile, translate it to your language and name it as your languagecode. Then send me this file through CurseForge and I will add it to the next release.

"Lootomatic v1.3" - Deutsch

  • AutoPassen and AutoGieren:

  • Integriert in Addonmanager:

  • Integriert in AddonConfig:

    ive got a feature request too (a rather big one that is)

    id love to see predefined (predefinalble) filterlists
    (in a separate lua for easy user editing)
    so that i can just add
    $projectiles, $potions1 or $runes1 (or something like that)
    in the filter dialog (preferably would show up as one item only too)

    would keep the list tidier, and would speed up configuration a lot
  • #14

    I love your addon. It is very nice to be able to fine tune your looting this way.

    I have a couple of feature requests if I might be so bold:
    - it would be nice if the roll box did not pop up at all. With WhiteRoll and AutoLoot, the box never popped up with the roll selector. I have limited screen space and I find that those roll boxes can sometimes cover up a skill button. Granted it is only for about a second before the auto-rolling function kicks in, but I find it distracting and worry that it could cause a misclick for me.

    - BetterLootMod and Lootfilter++ both seem to allow for faster looting such that the loot box never shows on my screen

    - If you added in an auto-destroy feature (garbage sweep) like Lootfilter++, I'd only finally need just this 1 loot related mod :D

    But anyway, I digress. Very nice work, thanks much for the contribution.
  • #15
    - If you added in an auto-destroy feature (garbage sweep) like Lootfilter++, I'd only finally need just this 1 loot related mod :D

    But this already exists, just choose the option "Drop"
    I do however agree that i wish there was an option for the loot box to not show at all, like in FasterAutoLoot
  • #16
    The problem is, there is no Event when an rollframe is poping, so the only possibility is to check every second (thats the interval i am checking this right now, can be modified), if an rollframe is displayed and then rolling on it to destroy it again.

    So the only possibility to instantly destroy the rollframe, is checking the display of these windows every millisecond, but this could result in lower framerates of the game.

    I have built this addon already taking in concern to let the user change the update interval, all thats missing is a configframe to change the value :D

    Yes, this is already existing since v0.1 of my mod :D
    Just open the ItemFilter an add an Entry with the Looting-Behaviour "Drop". Like in the popup described, Items with this name are lootet first, then thrown away. This is also triggered, when you get one of these items after you "won" the roll and therefore receive the item much later than the pickup, which LootFilter couldn't handle :D
  • #18
    Oh, sorry about that. I didn't realize there was drop functionality already, that rocks :D

    As for the subduing of the roll frame, I know it is possible because 2 other addons have worked this way, WhiteRoll and AutoLoot.

    Here is some of the relevant code from how WhiteRoll did this:

    function WhiteRoll_GroupLootFrame_OpenNewFrame(lootIndex)
    local self = WhiteRoll
    local lootName, _, _, quality = GetLootRollItemInfo(lootIndex)
    if self.TmpSettings.IsEnabled and quality
    RollOnLoot(lootIndex, "pass")--pass,greed,need

    function WhiteRoll_ChatFrame_OnEvent(this, event)
    if not WhiteRoll.TmpSettings.IsEnabled or arg1==nil then
    WhiteRoll.Hooked.ChatFrame_OnEvent(this, event, arg1, arg2, arg3, arg4, arg5, arg6, arg7, arg8, arg9);
    local textline=string.lower(string.gsub(arg1,"cff",""));
    if not (
    or string.find(textline,WhiteRoll.Strings.LOOT_GROUP)
    -- or string.find(textline,WhiteRoll.Strings.LOOT_GREED)
    -- or string.find(textline,WhiteRoll.Strings.LOOT_NEED)
    ) or (
    ) then
    WhiteRoll.Hooked.ChatFrame_OnEvent(this, event, arg1, arg2, arg3, arg4, arg5, arg6, arg7, arg8, arg9);

    function WhiteRoll_SetLootThreshold(LootThreshold_value)

    function WhiteRoll:Hooking()
    local self = WhiteRoll
    if not self.Hooked.SetLootThreshold then
    self.Hooked.SetLootThreshold = SetLootThreshold
    SetLootThreshold = WhiteRoll_SetLootThreshold
    if not self.Hooked.GroupLootFrame_OpenNewFrame then
    self.Hooked.GroupLootFrame_OpenNewFrame = GroupLootFrame_OpenNewFrame
    GroupLootFrame_OpenNewFrame = WhiteRoll_GroupLootFrame_OpenNewFrame
    if not self.Hooked.ChatFrame_OnEvent then
    self.Hooked.ChatFrame_OnEvent = ChatFrame_OnEvent
    ChatFrame_OnEvent = WhiteRoll_ChatFrame_OnEvent

    p.s. with regards to the faster autolooting, betterlootmod is the fastest one. I barely even kneel and I never see the loot frame.
  • #13
    Damn, I noticed that I havent localized a small, tiny, little textstring...

    Just in case you are wondering what "Keine Bosse" means xD

    I will fix this in the next version, which will include a characterspecific Itemfilter. I will add an option "this character only" in the Itemfilter, which can be added additionally to an global setting of the same item.

    btw @Mavoc:
    functions which return gold worth and durability sound interessting. I thought on looking into the sourcecode of the tooltip that pops when pointing on equipment, to get these values, but if you already have some working routines, it would be nice if you send these to me.
  • #17
    sent you a PM with the functions
  • #12
    I would also like a per character filter list but i propose something different. Have a global table and a per character table that get merged into a working itemfilter. Whenever someone adds a filter they have to select from a 4th dropdown for all toons or for , then the filter gets added to the working filter table and the appropriate saved table. I think this is the best solution to be able to easily filter out the things you don't wish to loot at all(link runes, simple pots, etc.), and the things that your current toon doesn't want to loot again(items that start already completed quests, mana pots for non mana users, etc.).

    If you need or would like any help with this, I'd be glad to help out.

    Also I was asking the new dev of itemfilte++ to add an ability to filter based on item gold worth and based on item dura. I have already developed to functions that will return these values and was wonder if you might add them to your code.

    Thanks a bunch for making a superior loot mod
  • #10
    I second Exaxxion's idea for per char setting. BTW great to see an update so soon after release. :)
  • #9
    This is a very nice addon, I especially like that it checks items won from dice rolls (unlike the other loot-related addons I've used).

    I also would really like to have shift-clicking of item text (would save a lot of time), but more importantly, I would love for it to save settings per character! I'm sure I'm not the only one who plays several different characters that might want different looting and rolling settings for each character.

    There's a way to do it using a function, I think it's SaveVariablesPerCharacter. Several addons use it and it's a great feature. Please consider it! Thanks in advance :)
  • #11
    SaveVariablesPerCharacter is how I how I changed mine to do it. There arent alot of addons using it so it keeps that savedvariables file really small. The way others have done it is there is a tables of char names in the root of the main save table, and all the options are inside of that. so instead of
    Lootomatic_Settings.Enabled you would use Lootomatic_Settings[charname].enabled, but if you just change SaveVariables("Lootomatic_Settings");
    then you can leave the rest of the addon the way it is
  • #8
    Really a great job on this addon, actually combining a lot of little things i was currently working on. I would really like if you could enhanced the item filtering section and changing it a little to extend is functionallities for the future.

    I would really like this addon to be able to sell item to vendor or to mail them to alts or friends, making it a more complete item manager addons. If you need assistance with the coding of the mailing or the selling i could mail ya some code from my basic addon. My coding skills are very limited, interfacing xml with lua is way behong comprehension at this time.

    Right now your itemfilter row template is devided into 3 groups, itemname, looting and rolling. what i am suggesting will required a 4th tab that should be call like "Action". Action to perform on the item now or later when the triggers are meet. Action should be a drop down menu offering those possibilities { "", "Keep", "Drop", "Sell","MailTo: x" ... }. While x could be you or any of your friends, they should all be in the dropdown list. I already got some vendors and mailing routines coded that i could mail you if you want. If you like this idea you will need to change the dropdown menu for looting and change options to just "", "Yes" and "No".

    Great initiative with this addon of yours =]
    I was actually in the process of writing up something similar myself, combining a mishmash of functions from various existing addons. But seeing as yours is already better than mine, I'll just come with a few feature requests here instead:

    -Would be nice if you could include a notification on loot-change like in this addon (

    -Perhaps also include an option to move the lootframe window like in these addons ( or (

    I might have a few more elaborate ideas, but need to iron them out a little first. Plus they might be out of scope of your planned feature set for this addon.

    But great work so far, keep it up! =]
  • #7
    Sorry, seems i required a feature that already exists ;p One of my other addons was messing up the notification on changed rollsettings. But perhaps you could make the notifications discern between "Master Looter/Dice Loot" as well.
  • #5
    Yes, I am already working on the possibility to Shift-Click or drag the item from your bag into the filterwindow, but its not working by now ;)

    I am also adding an additional option for autolooting based on the monsterclass. So it will be possible to autoloot normal mobs, while bosses wont be looted, so you dont have to turn it off at every boss ;)

    And deactivating autoloot by pressing Shift will also be included in the next update.
