About Perylous Action Bars

Perylous Action Bars

A simple add-on to allow scaling and context opacity of the Runes of Magic action bars. Perfect for use by those who enjoy creating minimalist UIs.

Sorry for the long delay in updating this. I've mostly left the add-on development scene, and it is difficult to find the time to update. Anyway, this is now the full 1.0 version.

Game Version

Verified to work with Runes of Magic client version 4.0.1.2430

Features

  • Allows scaling of all four action bars, as well as the pet bar.
  • Opacity setting for the action bars
  • Change opacity of action bars based on various selectable in-game contexts.
  • Can fade opacity over time.
  • Localization support (see inside the locales folder for details)
  • Ability to show or hide the pet bar's border frame
  • Ability to shift-drag action bar buttons if action bars are locked. They act normally if unlocked.
  • AddonManager support
  • Ability to suppress action bar tooltips per bar (thanks to skitey for idea)
  • Ability to hide the action bar drag anchors
  • Show/hide action bar button hot keys per bar
  • Show/hide action bar button names per bar

Opacity contexts

  • Mouse over action bars (affects all bars, or individually)
  • In combat
  • In a party or raid
  • When targeting
  • When spell casting
  • When a debuff is applied.

Upcoming Features

  • Selectable user profiles. Currently, though it saves settings per-character per-realm, there is no way to select a different profile.
  • Localization files for other languages. Need folk who can translate to various languages for that. If interested, make a localization file and send it to me.

Known Issues

  • When the action bar button names are shown, and an opacity less than one is used, the ellipses (...) that can show on the text does not have the opacity value applied to it. There is no fix for this issue as the ellipses are handled directly by the game engine.

  • Fixed the rather embarrassing bug related to the code that was supposed to handle settings updating. Sorry about that!

  • Added feature to suppress tooltips for individual action bars (thanks goes to skitey for the idea).
  • Fixed "hide pet border" check box reset problem on opening config panel.
  • Added feature to hide the action bar drag anchors (finally).
  • Added checks for old versions of saved settings and convert up to latest version.
  • Added support for KeyBinder (plug: KeyBinder is an upcoming addon to be released soon).

  • Fixed an issue where the addon could cause the game to crash on exit / return to character select.

    I keep getting a Error Message...when i try and do anything with the bar and then when i log off or relog, it resets the bar...its not a big deal because i have gotten into the habit of relogging as soon as i reconfig my bar. but still..just thought i'd let ya know ;) its a great addon and that is the only flaw i have found with it :)

    I have noticed a small glitch: if any of my action bar spaces have an ellipsis (...) in their text, the ellipsis does not fade out when the rest of the bar does. So even after my action bars have disappeared, I have these tiny dots on my screen. It's just a cosmetic issue, and doesn't impact performance at all.

    That said, I love this addon to death.

    Well I'm embarrassed! The v0.7 bug people are having was in the code that was supposed to stop this thing from happening. A fix has now been posted.

    //I can't believe I didn't run into this during development.//

    There are tickets posted already on the curseforge.com site, but wanted to post here to let people know that v0.7 appears to be bugged.

    After installing an interface execution error message awaits you in game, the configuration of the bars seems to revert to default, and the configuration window itself is blank.

    Just wanted to mention that I've got some basic code to do the tooltip suppression implemented. Still need to hook it to the config GUI and such, but it will be in v0.7 when I get around to finishing it. I've got a few other features I want to add, and I *really* need to get my newest addon finished ( shameless plug :) )

    Hi Peryl,
    first of all, I love this addon :)
    But yesterday I have installed the latest version v0.5 and since the installation was done everytime I tried to log out of RoM I got a critical error (every time, its really boring :( )
    Today I tried RoM without Perylous Action Bars v0.5 and got no critical errors..
    Somethings seems to be wrong with the new version...
    Maybe you could have a look at it.. Anyone else the same prob?

    Well I'll certainly look into the matter. I've been seeing something like this as well, but as I also got a couple of development addons going, didn't really notice the problem showing up in Perylous Action Bars.

    OK. Got version 0.6 should fix the issue and will be up as soon as it clears approval through CurseForge.
