About CastSequence

Description

CastSequence allows you to create a list of abilities and attach it to a specific hotbar page and slot. Abilities will not be auto selected, there are no conditional checks and the abilities will always be executed in sequential order.

Dependencies

Optional

LibSlash is needed to use the slash commands.
LibAddonButton is needed to use the configuration button.

Accessing CastSequence

The Sequences window can be displayed by clicking the gear icon and selecting CastSequence or by typing the command /cs or /castsequence

Creating a Sequence

A sequence can be created by clicking the New Sequence button on the Sequences window.

Give the sequence a name and enter the page and slot of an action bar where you would like the sequence to be shown. If you need help choosing, click the Show helper check box to highlight you action bars. You can then click one of the highlights to automatically set the page and slot.

Once all the required information is filled in, click the Create button to finalize your sequence. All sequences will appear in the Sequences list. Any sequences that are tinted grey are not enabled.

Editing a Sequence

You can edit a sequence by simply clicking on it in the sequences list.

Deleting a Sequence

You can delete a sequence by right clicking it and selecting remove. You could also edit it and uncheck Enabled to disable it.

Settings

The settings can be accessed by clicking the wrench icon on the Sequences window.

Sequence Advancement

  • A sequence can advance based on the cast time of the spell, or at the beginning of a cast

Cast Time Modifier

  • Adjusts the cast time, for use with "On cast time" sequence advancement, to compensate for factors such as the spell queue. For example, if a spell takes 3 seconds to cast and this is set to 1 second, the sequence will advance 2 seconds into the cast

Reset Conditions

Timeout

  • The sequence will be reset if it hasn't been successfully used in X seconds.

Target Change

  • The sequence will be reset when your target changes. The target can be set to your friendly target, hostile target, or either of them.

Combat Change

  • The sequence will be reset when you enter or leave combat.
  • Fixed an error where instant cast abilities would skip if there was more than one of the same ability in sequence

    Hi finalfatex,

Found another bug whereby the sequence will stop to work whenever i die from respawn or when i get a knockdown. This happens not always, maybe 3 out of 10 times. Had to manually open up the config box and apply changes again.

When it breaks, does the sequence not progress at all, even if you use the ability shown, or is it breaking because it's getting stopped on a uncastable spell.

Do you have any reset options enabled? If so, does the specified reset not fix it? If not, try setting the idle timeout and see if that fixes it.

I have 4 chosen's aura running on the sequence, the aura will not advance to the next. That's what I'm facing, what I need to do is to open up the config page and press again for it to work.

No i do not have any reset enabled. Will try and see, and if I dont reply back in here means its working :) thanks

    Some things to note:
I did find a bug with instant cast abilities, but it should only occur then the same ability is in a sequence more than 2 times in a row.

A sequence will only update when you successfully cast the spell.

Auras are toggle-able, so if the sequence lands on an active aura (has the white ring animation around it), activating it will turn off the aura, put it on cooldown for 5s and not update the sequence. Activating it again will turn the aura back on and update the sequence.

The reset options will basically reset your sequence to the 1st item, though it shouldn't matter for just auras since they're always useable.

When it breaks, can you cast the aura multiple times (successfully) and not have the sequence update? If so, try to manually cast the other auras in the sequence (specifically the one that should be shown) to see if that update's it.

Yes I manually cast other auras and it will auto reset it and casts back normally.

Saw the new updates, however, the gear icon is missing.

Make sure LibAddonButton is enabled (1.4 would have disabled it).
  • #14
Thanks! I thought LibAddonButton was an optional thing previously.

It is. LibAddonButton is only for the gear icon

Some bug encounter while creating hotbar page & slot.
Example: I use 11 slot on a single bar, the bar:3/slot:1 sequence was created on bar:2/slot:11. Even with the "helper" it still doesn't help.

    Question:
    1. Can it be done to do a check to advance to the next sequence if it's on cooldown?
    - Reason is the when a skill is on cooldown on one of the sequence, it stops there.

    2. Can it be done to do a check to advance to the next sequence if the skill is greyed out/unavailable?
    - This would help BO/SM to advance their plan skills.

    Anyway, great addon overall. Cheers

Though #1 and 2 are possible to do, this addon abides by the definition and cannot perform any checks on abilities.

+1 for this idea. I want make sequence with Friction burn (9s cd) and blunderbuss blast (co cd). I want always spam BB and FB everytime when on cd. Btw much better then NB because NB greatly decrease fps but CS not:-) thx:-)
  • #1
    NerfButtons Lite? :p
Seems like i'll give this a try on my sorc, since NB doesn't have a way to stop the sequence on a spell like Hand of Ruin.
  • #3
in NB use the stay-on-cast soc option for channeled spells.

Nice to see a castsequence addon, great work finalfatex.
  • #4
I don't see a stay on cast option in the UI of NB. If it's a command only option, any chance of having that added to the UI? I'm sure there's plenty of ppl like me that really hate having to add stuff through command lines, and only use the UI to add their skills.

The goal was to make cast sequences available without the "nerfed". It's basically a port of Blizz's /castsequence macro standard.
