Ok so I thought this addon would help a ton with seeing personal tells. So I downloaded it and libslash together (just a few days ago so both are at the latest versions). Once installed I decided to turn off some sounds and then change some sounds around. Incoming Tells are most important so I changed the sound to be something a bit more noticing then the default. Once I did that none of them are working now.

I went in and deleted the folder from the Addon directory and unzipped a new one. Still not working. I then replaced the whole interface directory and let WarHammer create a new one. Once that was done I unzipped again both programs and they are still not working. I verified the sound is turned on but nothing happens when I receive an incoming tell. The only thing I noticed was that even though I got a whole new interface folder the settings for what channels are turned on or off remained. So when I reloaded the 2nd time all the channels I originally turned off were still off.

I just really wanted to get incoming tell alerts. Any help or advice would be great. Thanks

You might want to delete the saves user settings for the addon since this is probably what is corrupt for you. In you WAR folder, you will see folder called "user". In there, traverse down until you see your character's folder and inside there you should see a folder called "ChatAlert". Delete the ChatAlert folder. Be sure the game is not running when you do this. This will reset everything to the way it was when you installed the addon.

Hmm... I'm trying to change the sound.

    When I type

    /ca sound SHOUT 303

    the responce is..

Unable to set sound for channel 303 to .

I have the most recent LibSlash. Also if I just type.. for kicks..

    /ca sound

    I get.. [string "Interface/AddOns\ChatAlert\ChatAlert/lua"]:127

    Any ideas?

I'm having the same problem. The only way I found to change the sounds is to do it manually. Since there have been no updates to this addon for 7 months, I thought I'd post my answer to help others like you.

In your WAR folder, you have a subfolder called "user". In there, traverse down until you find your characters folder and eventually you will come across a folder called ChatAlert. This folder contains the settings for the addon. The file SavedVariables.lua you will want to open in notepad and change all the sound ids in there. Be sure to not have game running when you do this and make a copy of the file before editing it as backup. This works for me and hope it helps you and all who read this.

The channels names are case-sensitive IIRC. I had this problem about 2 weeks ago, and fixed it, but I've sense forgotten exactly what it was. But I do believe that either the "sound" command or the channel name had to have the first letter capitalized. Hope this works for y'all. :)

Same problem. I try: /ca sound SHOUT 220
and get the message: "Unable to set sound for channel 220 to"

I'm using a german client and tried it also with /language engslish

    Need help!

looks like heavy metal update changed the sound 220 which is used for the /scenario chat

Yeap, thats one reason I sat down and reworked things so people could change the soundIDs. This way won't have to mess with it anymore ;)

Great update. Thank you very much.

How about a text signal on the screen? Or at least a symbol near the minimap like in SpamMeNot?! Sometimes with all the battle dim around ya, you can barely hear yourself thinking ;)

Hmmm, do that and I will learn English. =P

in-game sound tester would be appreciated. if theres anyway to make some sort of tab around mini-map (like in alot of wow mods) that had option such as, selecting channels, choosing sound for each channel, possibly uploading new sounds. Visual options would be awesome for user friendly

Added in game sound test and the ability to change your soundIDs for whichever channel you want.

I am having an error with this addon: [string "Interface/AddOns\ChatAlert\ChatAlert/lua"]:127

I have updated both the addon and LibSlash.

    Any thoughts/suggestions?

Love this addon, and hope to get it working again.
