About Guard Enhancement System (Ges)

The Guard Enhancement System or Ges tries to cover all of your guarding needs.

It automatically notifies party members who your guarding (your Guardee) and just as importantly when you stop guarding.

It has a visual monitor to help you track your Guardee's health and status as well as a visual tracker that helps you to easily locate you Guardee in even the heaviest fights. The tracker and monitor have the ability to monitor your Guardees health and change colour as their health drops below configurable thresholds and will even play sounds to help get the point across.

Everything is configurable through an easy to use GUI setup window, enabling you to turn functionality on and off with the push of a button, customise colours, thresholds and sounds, and create your own custom notification messages.

Ges is designed to be fully configurable to suit your play style (I hope) and if not, leave your suggestions in the comments section below.

  • Taldren for the initial inspiration for this mod.

Note: This addon has a dependency on the Libslash addon in order to run.

Further Note: If you would like Ges to speak in your native language please click here and add the appropriate translations. Russian translations are ready to go, just awaiting another language before I enable localization.

So, everytime I launch the game I join this strange "KageDestro" channel in purple. The channel spams numbers and .. stuff. Is this related to the GES mod? If so, can you explain why it does this or point me to something to read to explain it to me?

No range check? I need some type of monitor for range. :)

If you're a tank and not running this....you're wrong.

    Suggestion for improvement:
I would like to see the ability to add a sound to the act of guarding and removing guard under the sound section.
  • #53
Ahhh Taldren you truely are a font of useful ideas. I will add it in to the next release. Cheers.
  • #56
this would actually be amazing if you can do it.

Something else popped into my head as well ... and chance it could track the amount of guard damage you are taking and reporting it to you in a DPS format? It would help me to keep inside guard range if I see my guard target under attack and I show 0.0 DPS taken from guard.

Also total guard damage taken over say a play period and/or a scenario would be nice as well. Give us tanks a stat WE get to brag about ;)

Sure it's definitely doable and I can really see where it would be useful. The only issue is that it is new functionality so it won't be in the next release as I'm trying to get the new Guardee mod released asap.

I might also be able to combine this functionality with another mod I plan on writing, a sort of plug-in functionality for mods...

Anyway, another nice idea, thank you.

Quite a fine addon really, kudos ;)
One question: how would i size/opacity of the tracker icon from the game level?
  • #45
The size can be adjusted via Warhammer's Layout Editor. Look for the window labeled "Ges Tracker". Normally the Opacity would be set via the layout editor also but for some reason I have left out the code to cater for this. That has now been rectified and will be available in the next patch.

I can't find the Ges Tracker. I moved everything in my layour editor.. all I can find is Ges Monitor and Ges.
  • #49
Ah, yes, found it, the window jumps around the layout editor, which is quite understandable, being a dynamic thing.

One minor thing: if one could set the x-y offset of the tracker. I would like to move it a wee bit higher ;)

Open up the options window by Right clicking on the Shield with the letter "G" in it or type /ges in your chat window.

Select the Extras tab. Use the controls in the bottom right hand window of the screen, under the title "Adjust Tracker Icon Position", to alter the X,Y Offset of the tracker icon.

Note: If your going to use the text boxes to enter the offset, you need to pres either , or after you've entered the numbers in the box, to have a preview of the offset before saving.

Well, that would be a perfect addon, for my needs at least, thanks mate ;)

Opacity actually works fine for me to edit through the layout editor.
