About Guard Enhancement System (Ges)

The Guard Enhancement System or Ges tries to cover all of your guarding needs.

It automatically notifies party members who your guarding (your Guardee) and just as importantly when you stop guarding.

It has a visual monitor to help you track your Guardee's health and status as well as a visual tracker that helps you to easily locate you Guardee in even the heaviest fights. The tracker and monitor have the ability to monitor your Guardees health and change colour as their health drops below configurable thresholds and will even play sounds to help get the point across.

Everything is configurable through an easy to use GUI setup window, enabling you to turn functionality on and off with the push of a button, customise colours, thresholds and sounds, and create your own custom notification messages.

Ges is designed to be fully configurable to suit your play style (I hope) and if not, leave your suggestions in the comments section below.

Acknowledgments:

  • Snotslinga and Musanna for their endless ideas that made this mod so much bigger than intended.
  • All the tanks of Dominus Nocturnus who tested the mod and left me with hours of bug fixes.
  • Taldren for the initial inspiration for this mod.

Note: This addon has a dependency on the Libslash addon in order to run.

Further Note: If you would like Ges to speak in your native language please click here and add the appropriate translations. Russian translations are ready to go, just awaiting another language before I enable localization.

The addon doesn't track the buff on the target, it tracks the mod on you. So unless another tank threw guard on you within the same second as you threw guard on the healer, then Ges will be tracking the wrong buff.

I have noticed that if you try to mash the button, triggering the GCD exploit, the Warhammer API doesn't cope and the buff removal event isn't captured properly. This has the result of Ges not turning off when it should and therefore tracks the wrong target.

I tend to smash buttons so I thought it was like you said, but I did some testing today. I put guard on someone right at the start of a Nordenwatch, then we flipped the barracks and when we got to the Fortress I switched guard and it went all crazy again. I didn't press any buttons from the 1st time I guarded someone at the start to the time I guarded someone else at the Fortress and the icon still went flickering and moving around from person to person.
Seems to happen only in scenarios tho.

Doesn't seem to happen in every scenario either, just a couple of them.

Found another one. I've done about 20 scenarios since I got the 1.1, and this visual bug only happened twice, so it's not all that often that it happens.
When I'm in a scenario and I guard someone their health/name are shown in the monitor part of the addon, but once I leave the scenario their name/health are still showing instead of no showing anything at all, like it does 90% of the other time.

Is it only the name and health labels or is the monitor icon still showing as well?
  • #28
The whole monitor part is the one that still shows. After the scenario the name and health (even got stuck at 85% health in one case) were still showing after I left the scenario.

Just a quick comment to say that your addons are going down a storm at the moment, both this and RES have been greatly received. Keep up the good work!

    Thanks mate. I'll try.

Getting used to this addon now. It's brilliant. Thanks so much mate.

This is turning out to be a really good addon!
One request: Is it possible to resize the guard icons?

I can't wait for the next release, WTB no more channel spam :P
  • #14
The icons can be resized via the layout editor. Although now thati think about it, the tracker icon will not save the new size past logoff. /facepalm
I've fixed this now and will include it in the next release.

and maybe make the monitor click through as well?
I like to have it sit in the middle of the screen so it's easy to spot... but I keep accidentally clicking on it.
