About Map

Map is aimed at filling the gap between Mythics Full Screen Map and the Minimap.

While current Minimap addons provide zooming out to a Zone View, due to it being always visible it´s usually set too small to make the Full Screen Map obsolete, and using the later while roaming around typically ends up on the bottom of the nearest cliff.

So, here´s a resizable map that´s visible on demand and doesn´t fill your screen - if you wish so.

Commands:

/m or /map or /zm or /zonemap

Arguments:

  • toggle
  • config

Features:

  • Set the Size via the Layout editor
  • Choose between different Texture Sets for the Map Border
  • Set Colors and Alphas
  • Toggle the Map via Makro: /script Map.ToggleMap()
  • (optional) Toggle the Map by clicking on a Minimap
  • WarCommander, MapMonster & MapMonster Navigator Support
  • Option to automatically hide the Map when in Combat; to show OoC

Planned Features:

  • LibAddonButton Support
  • WarBoard Toggler

v1.1 supports mouse clicks for MapMonster, MapMonster Navigator and WarCommander.

I´ve found a way to calculate everything needed in MapMonster, seems consistent, so I´ll be converting from the user gathered empirical zone data in the succeeding updates.
This will happen starting with the major revision update MapMonster v2 beta with the PlayerCoordinates, which is online now.
When this conversion will be completed, it will be tagged MapMonster v2 release.

Tested V2 beta with MM-Nav 0.5 beta 2. Normal pins, waypoints, and WarC waypoints created correctly. However, MM-Nav Waypoint indicator shows "???" ft and arrows orient to player direction of North.

    No errors detected by Busted.

will probably be fixed tomorrow, just revert to the last version if you need it until then.

Just checking in, do you still plan to update soon?

Still using previous version, and it's working fine, but eager to try your new calculation method.
  • #29
Since I now got control over MM, I´ll focus on getting a working version of it and the other addons that depend on it out first. The method does not work everywhere yet (not in scenarios for example), and I´m unsure if it wouldn´t increase cpu time comparable to the one used now. So, it´s not from the table, but it made sense to shift priorities now that I´ve the possibility to push an official update.

sounds great, I'll keep checking back.
  • #30
    Yes, I need a better management ;D
Hopefully I´ll get home tomorrow, don´t want to push this update on the road unable to get in game in case problems occur.

I've been using Map a few days now and I really prefer it over Custom Map. I used it as an addition rather than as a replacement to the default mini-map, and I didn't care for all the extra buttons that I could never figure out how to disable. I really like the combat hide/show functionality.

Some things I'd love to see added:

Scroll in to mini-map view: really helps out when you need a larger mini-map window in dungeons, etc.

Quick flip to other zone maps in the current pairing.

Ability to create Map Pins and Waypoints directly on the Map Window.

Otherwise it's great as it is, thanks for all your hard work!

Noted, priority in reverse order though ;)

MapMonster Point creation support: probably the next one (I have to work on other addons first, though)

Quick flip: Probably first with the option that when you click on a zone of the T4 Campaign overview window (the small one you can always show, forgot how it was named in english). Other ways to flip may be added when I figure out the least intrusive way to add such a menu. Probably a modifier-click bringing up a selection, don´t want to add a combobox on a map border or sth. like that.

Minimap stuff: Comparatively much work, so I can´t squeeze it in my todo list that easily. Maybe someday.

*ding* MapMonster clone updated to beta 0.4e.

FYI: MapMonster clone updated to beta 0.4b, fixing the offset on map point creation on certain resolutions (original MapMonster Ticket 7)
  • #11
I tried 0.4b and 0.4c, no luck getting either to work. I created a fresh character and disabled all other addons.

On 0.4c, there's several errors in the debug log, beginning with a "Error Reading Lua Buffer on (I think) MapMonster_Pins.lua.

Is there a way to copy text from the debug log in order to post it?
