About Twister

Twister is an aura-twisting helper for Chosen and Knights of the Burning Sun. It allows you to specify up to 3 auras that should be sequenced. Its display will show you what aura is currently active, and what auras are fading/expired. Any aura icon can be clicked to refresh (or in the case of the active aura, deactivate) that aura. The currently active aura is shown larger on the left side of Twister's "trough", auras which are about to expire will turn red as they near the end of the trough, and the longest-expired aura is shown at the far right side of Twister's trough. The trough's background will turn blue when you're able to cast another aura.

In addition, you can specify a hot bar binding number (from 1 to 120, defaults to 119) to bind to Twister, after which pressing the key bound to that hotbar binding will activate the next aura in the sequence (Twister is smart enough to only activate this keybinding when the shared aura cooldown is not active, meaning that you shouldn't get many "ability not ready yet" spam messages if you hit the key while the cooldown is still going). The hot bar binding number you choose does not necessarily have to be one that is associated with a visible action bar (as you may have guessed from the default value of 119).

To set up which auras (and which button #) Twister should use, simply right-click anywhere on its display. Then drag auras from your abilities window to the 3 squares, and/or change the button number in its edit box.

To save or load sets of auras, use the following commands:

  • /script Twister.SaveSet("setnamehere")
  • /script Twister.LoadSet("setnamehere")

Either command can be macro'd if desired (especially useful for loading sets).

Twister's display will only be visible (and Twister will only be active) when the current character is a KotBS or Chosen.

There is not really a viable way to do this.

Great mod, but as a clicker is there a way i can set it up so that if i click the particular button i want to use, it will set twister off working? right now it does nothing
  • #239
you can click them in the twister bar
  • #236
can this add on be updated to work with several hot bar key bindings?

    Great mod =)

Sorry if this has been asked before but does anyone know how to add it with a Mac? Curse client doesn't have WAR yet and I'm not sure how to find the Mod folder.
  • #241
In general, all addons will work with Mac. They're just LUA scripts. The same applied to World of Warcraft also. I had 200 someodd WoW addons and they all worked on Mac.

The only thing different is the way they are installed. When you manually download the addon on Mac, you have to unzip the downloaded zip file. then move the root directory of the addon to your WAR/Interface/Addons directory and fire up WAR. If the addon isn't showing u as expected, then double check your directories. It should be WAR/Interfaces/Addons/MyCoolAddon and NOT WAR/Interfaces/Addons/MyCoolAddon/MyCoolAddon which can happen if you're not careful and depending on how the original author zipped up his files.

Great Mod thanks for the work.

I have a little feature request.

Would it be possible to set a mode where the first aura is locked, or otherwise considered high-priority?

For example, I have twister set to do the Strength Aura, Toughness Aura and Resist Aura, in that order. But I always want the Strength one to be active no matter what. What happens sometimes though is that the strength aura falls off, and the 2nd aura is active. So when I hit twister, it casts the 3rd aura. This means I have to wait for the next cycle to get my strength aura back. But in the situation that only 1 aura is active, I'd like it to always cast my "primary aura".

    Hope this makes sense :)

Unfortunately due to the way the logic currently works, I'd basically have to rework a lot of it to be able to do this, so it's probably not going to happen. :x

what i think hes saying is is there a way to make the auras come in patterns , like:
    strength - thoughness - strength - resist - strength - toughness .

I also have a suggestion but i know it most likely would need to be another addon , when certain events happen , a aura will activate itself asap . An example of this could be when i hit my 2nd morale ability shield wall , the aura that makes every block heal me activates and then switches back to my normal morale after the shield wall effect is over.

I don't think I understand properly. Do the auras you set in the sequence automatically switch between them on cooldown, or do you have to manually have to manually have the auras change?
  • #231
Some keypress still has to happen for each aura change. Some enterprising people have figured out that you can set Twister's bind number to be the same as a hotbar slot that has an often-used attack in it, and thus have the usage of that ability provide the keypress trigger, if you so desire.

Just a heads up for those of you who like to change specs and use twister. If you change specs and leave an aura you used to have in twister, the mod will not work.

    Very nice addon

but I'm a "mouse clicker" and i'd like to know if it's possibile to make twister work when i mouse click the binded button on the bar, not just when i physically click it..
    thanks a lot
  • #228
It won't work for the button on the bar, no, but you can click on the icons shown in the Twister window itself to recast the corresponding aura, if that helps.
