About Twister

Twister is an aura-twisting helper for Chosen and Knights of the Burning Sun. It allows you to specify up to 3 auras that should be sequenced. Its display will show you what aura is currently active, and what auras are fading/expired. Any aura icon can be clicked to refresh (or in the case of the active aura, deactivate) that aura. The currently active aura is shown larger on the left side of Twister's "trough", auras which are about to expire will turn red as they near the end of the trough, and the longest-expired aura is shown at the far right side of Twister's trough. The trough's background will turn blue when you're able to cast another aura.

In addition, you can specify a hot bar binding number (from 1 to 120, defaults to 119) to bind to Twister, after which pressing the key bound to that hotbar binding will activate the next aura in the sequence (Twister is smart enough to only activate this keybinding when the shared aura cooldown is not active, meaning that you shouldn't get many "ability not ready yet" spam messages if you hit the key while the cooldown is still going). The hot bar binding number you choose does not necessarily have to be one that is associated with a visible action bar (as you may have guessed from the default value of 119).

To set up which auras (and which button #) Twister should use, simply right-click anywhere on its display. Then drag auras from your abilities window to the 3 squares, and/or change the button number in its edit box.

To save or load sets of auras, use the following commands:

  • /script Twister.SaveSet("setnamehere")
  • /script Twister.LoadSet("setnamehere")

Either command can be macro'd if desired (especially useful for loading sets).

Twister's display will only be visible (and Twister will only be active) when the current character is a KotBS or Chosen.

This looks like it's easier to use than the other twisting-focused addons. I'll definitely check this out, it looks like a winner. :)

This addon is awesome! It's made playing my Knight so much more efficient. Big thanks for making this. A couple design suggestions, though:

    1) Could you make the colors used optional? I might want white instead of blue, or perhaps purple. Just something to make it more versatile for UIs.

    2) This one is a big suggestion, and a lot of work, so I have no illusions about it. If you could set the "trough" up so that it cycles the three like you have it, but put all the auras that a person loads in visible at once, it would allow us to click-select auras that we need in a pinch without waiting for them to cycle around. It could be handy in some cases, though the LoadSet and SaveSet commands might do that well enough that it's not needed. I haven't messed with those yet.

Anyway, thanks so much for making this addon, it's fantastic!

Awesome! Will be testing this when I feel like playing my Chosen again. I used ChosenHelper Auratwister before but it kept bugging, hopefully/likely this'll work better! Keep up the good work Aiiane.

I've added basic capability for saving and loading sets in 1.6 - use /script Twister.SaveSet("setnamehere") and /script Twister.LoadSet("setnamehere")

I'm loving this mod a lot right now, thanks for making it :D

Got two problems/suggestions with it so far though:
    1. 'Stay Focused!' (Kotbs aura) breaks the cooldown display, most likely because it creates a duplicate buff of the same name (with a shorter cooldown) each time you defend against an attack.

    2. As with the twisting sets idea, I keep using different sets of auras and every time I drag auras into Twister to use I lose them on my action bars and have to replace them from the abilities window, kind of annoying.

  • #10
Hmm. I'll have to see if I can get the effectId for the shorter-duration portion of Stay Focused so I can just tell the mod to ignore it.
  • #11
For now, I just added a blacklist for fading abilities that start out at 3 seconds or less, that should take care of it.

This sounds as though it could benefit from someone making a short video showing what it looks like.

Resizing the window smaller causes some issues with the icons that end up too far right, can't be clicked, and other similar problems.

Feel stupid suggesting anything to one of your Addons, because it's probably either already in there or on the way, but, switching around different Twisting Sets would be very nice.
  • #6
Hmm, I think a /reloadui after resizing it should get rid of that, but let me know if it doesn't.

As for twisting sets, that's an interesting idea. :)

To bad there's no mod that can do the switching automatically on a timer.

Nice, I mapped 119 to Mouse5 and its easy to follow the little "timer" track.

    Two issues:
    1. The black bar displays on non-Chosen/Knight characters. I logged on my Magus and had a big black bar staring right at me. I assume that its also loading. I see in your notes that it is not supposed to be doing either. I just tested my Magus, then came to write this, but will look at some others later.

    2. The icon for the fading aura stops at the far right end and remains displayed as a light-red aura icon.

    Hi,

Right now I can only use 1,2,..0 for twister

I would love to be able to use "left-click" from the mouse as the twister activation bar.

Can some give me instruction how I can do it?

    Greetings,

    Peter

    #1 should be fixed now. I typo'd a function name. :)
  • #2
    #1 I will look into, thanks. :)

#2 is intended. You can click the icons to refresh them, so that provides an easy way to refresh an aura even after it has run out.
