About Alert

A fairly simple addon that can play a sound and give a text or icon warning whenever important talents or abilities proc, or you gain certain buffs. Most important procs I could think of are included by default, but more can be added or removed.

Icons for abilities which are off cooldown can also be shown, as a visual warning that said ability should be used immediately.

When adding a buff or spell to look for, remember to use the exact, case specific name.

To use your own sound, add the file to the Interface\AddOns\Alert\sounds directory, type the file's name in the edit box in options, and choose custom under the drop down menu.

Please report bugs and comment with ideas for changes, additions, or improvements.

Nice Addon works like a charm for me. Just a few options that would improve it further:
    - Fade In / Fade Out (when out of combat or if you are grouped or not). Bartender4 and AutoBar have a few cool options.
    - Options to control Icons Layout.
    - Button Facade Support :)

Can someone please walk me through what I need to do to add a custom sound? I put the wave file here - C:\program files\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\Alert\sounds - and in the add on in game I have tried everything to get this file to work, its a wave file. the name of the sound clip is "warning", I really hope I have given enough information so that someone can help me because I can't figure it out on my own.

I don't know if this will help you or not, but move your World of Warcraft folder outside your Program Files folder and try it again. Just cut and paste out of C:\Program Files and into C:\.

It was in a comment added 2 months ago and still hasnt been added to the addon, you are missing Taste for Blood a Arms warrior proc. Would be nice to see this one added to this addon.
  • #32
You should be able to add Taste for Blood by going to the options menu and pressing the button labeled "Buffs". I've just respeced my own warrior to arms and tried just to be sure it is working properly. Be sure that when you add the buff, it is spelled exactly as it is in the buff the proc gives you.

i cant use a .wav file with custom options have tried everything but still it wont work, the file is sa.wav sound that old slam alert had "Perfect".
copy the file to the right directory, write is name with extension in the right place but it wont work
  • #30
Not sure why it isn't working for you, I got it to work immidately with the same sound file. Make sure you restart the game client after copying the file to the sounds directory or it wont work.

I have done this but, still no icon. I cant seem to figure it out.
  • #25
I cant get the icon to display since last update. Am I doing something wrong?
  • #26
It has a tendency to wander off to unknown places sometimes for unknown reasons, have you tried pushing the button to reset it to the center of the screen ?
  • #28
I have reset, loaded an older mod and still no icon. Could it be something in the standard WoW interface? I haven't changed anything but since patch everything works but the Icon display.

Am i the only one getting an odd lua error when loading this addon? I'd like to try and use it as a replacement for Slam Alert, but it's not working...?
