I was having this problem also. The shift click seems to work, the option to turn it off would be nice. Great add on otherwise!
But I have to manually turn on digsite blobs every time I log into the game - do you have this issue too? I don't mind the shift clicking otherwise, but if I forget to do this right when I log in, I might accidentally fly right past a dig site if I'm not actively doing archaeology.
I'm not at my PC to test this currently (will do shortly and edit this) but...
can you follow these steps for me:
1. Show the Archy onscreen lists normally, that is both the digsite and artifact windows are visible on your screen.
Are the digsite blobs visible on the map? Yes? Good. (No? Bug I need to look at)
2. Now instead of clicking the LDB/Minimap icon to disable Archy (and thus hide the lists) shift+click them instead or type /archy stealth.
This should hide the onscreen lists (which I'm guessing is what you want to do while flying / moving to next digsite or whatever) but keep Archy active in the background and the digsite blobs visible.
If that's what you're doing but it's not working I'll look at it.
Edit: I just checked it and it works exactly as I described BUT as it might be confusing for some users I'll put an option in next version to disable automation and let you control digsite visibility manually.
Until then showing Archy lists first (simple click) and then hiding them with shift-click will keep Archy active in the background and the digsites showing like I said.
Edit2: Added an option to disable automation in v1.8.13.
Just to provide a little context of "why" it works like that.
When you do a simple click to hide Archy lists, the hiding is just a side-effect of actually disabling Archy.
So not only the onscreen lists are hidden, but TomTom arrow would disappear (if you had TomTom showing you next digsite direction/distance) also Minimap arrows would disappear etc, in short Archy is doing "nothing".
So your typical usage sofar has been: Turn Archy ON, find next digsite, turn Archy OFF, go to it manually with no help from Archy, turn Archy back ON and dig, find next digsite, turn Archy OFF, ... repeat.
The original author I think expected users to have the addon ON (lists visible) while doing archaeology and OFF when not doing archaeology why he made a minimal style also available for players with precious little screen real estate.
The /archy stealth or shift-click functionality was a "second thought" to further help any that wanted to keep all the other Archy helpers active (tomtom arrow, minimap arrows, next digsite and 'solve available' announcements etc) and only hide the digsite and artifact onscreen lists.
Bottomline: Not saying your usage isn't valid I just didn't expect or plan for users to continuously toggle Archy on/off while doing Archaeology.
Yes ... you're correct ... it's working correctly once I got the sequence of keystrokes correct as you describe, thank you! However, I do agree that it is somewhat cumbersome and counter-intuitive if the keystoke sequence is not fully understood and followed. Thank you for your decison to add a toggle to disable automation, that will be most helpful.
Nice Addon, thanks for that!!!
I'm using the Development version and have an issue with the "Show Digsite" toggle on the World Map becoming repeatedly un-toggled.
This is "by design".
The digsite tracking follows Archy enabled/disabled status under the assumption that you don't want to see digsite blobs when you're not actually doing Archaeology.
If you want to keep the digsite blobs visible but Archy's onscreen lists hidden use Shift+Left Click on minimap icon / LDB
or /archy stealth from the command-line.
This will keep Archy active and the digsite blobs showing while hiding Archy's digsite and artifact lists.
I guess there should be a user option if this feature makes it to release to allow you to decide if you want to have to manually toggle digsite blobs on/off or let Archy manage them when doing archaeology. :-)
Maybe you could add a database of found/missing items ? Something like http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/archdb does.
This is included in v1.8.12 and later.
ah I need a ldb mod to have the tooltip, thanks for the replay
Items on the tooltip with an asterisk are interactive.
You can click the race to expand the missing rares at the bottom of the tooltip like shown here.
This is one of my absolute favorite apps. It has made archaelogy much less painful, and more enjoyable. Thank you so much!
I'm having a problem in which my default archaeology skill window is blank on the races page. This is new with the most recent version.
I really like this mod otherwise. Thank you for keeping up with updates and responses.
Fixed in v1.8.12
