About Archy - Archaeology Assistant

If you care at all about my wishes, you won't download this AddOn from SolidIce: They are leeching it from the site I actually choose to put it on.

Archy is an assistant for Archaeologists that want information at their finger tips.

Features

  • Localized for English, French, German, Russian, Spanish, and Traditional Chinese users
  • On-screen customizable and movable list for the dig sites on the continent you are current on
  • On-screen customizable and movable list of the artifacts you are researching that can be filtered to display only the races for the continent you are on
  • Racial fragment types are shown for each of the dig sites
  • Solve artifacts with (left click) or without (right click) keystones by clicking on the racial crest icon in the on-screen artifacts list or bind a key for a one stop solve shop
  • TomTom support to help you navigate between dig sites
  • Able to display dig sites on the minimap (closest only or all dig sites)
  • Able to display dig site boundaries on the battlefield mini map
  • Blacklist dig sites in the on-screen digsite list by right clicking on the dig site name. Perfect for when you have a bugged node or a dig site that is in a zone that you dislike.

  • Sound triggers for when you have enough fragments and/or keystones to solve an artifact
  • A dig recorder to see where at a dig site you have successful dug
  • LDB Tooltip showing missing rare artifacts per race and overall archaeology progress
  • many more features

I would LOVE to see this too.

This would probably be a low priority, since there is a quick set of steps to get the Uldum dig site being the closest...

    1) Just look at the list and see if an Uldum site is up

    2) Port to Org, then take portal to Uldum

    Bingo! Uldum site is closest.

Hello, I've installed this addon and love it's interface and all the information it provides on-screen.

However, after digging for a couple of minutes, every time I loot the fragments my game/screen freezes for a tiny bit. The more time passes and the more I dig, the freezing just becomes longer and longer.
After like 10-15 minutes of digging, every time I loot fragments the game freezes for about a second or two.

Restarting or just /reload-ing clears it out, but again, only for a couple of minutes.

Would love some help here because I really don't want to remove this addon.

    Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Also clicking the keystone icons next to the progress bars seems to make the game freeze. Again, at start just a tiny bit, but if I click it like 20 times in a row it just starts freezing like crazy, and then again my looting freezes more and more for each time I clicked the keystone icon.

Make sure you have "Show lua errors" enabled from Game Options -> Help or a bug catching addon installed. (BugGrabber+BugSack or Swatter are good options)

I've gotten one other report like this but was never able to reproduce myself and other user never came back to expand on it.

Whether you manage to get an error report or not please create a ticket and add as much information to it as you can:

    • WoW language (eg. enGB, deDE etc, or English, German and so on)
    • Exact Archy version (you can find from Archy header in options)
    • OS (eg. Windows 64bit, MacOS)
    • Continent and area where you can reproduce this or "all" if it happens anywhere.
    • A list of your other addons. [optional]

Sorry, I think this was me, and I stopped doing archaeology for a long time and then was ill and didn't play for a while.

I was only seeing it in Pandaria at the time and only when I had continent filtering turned off so that all my artifacts were showing.  I had it set like that because I was using my Pandaria artifacts to buy old world crates.  I had planned to go back to the old world to see if it was happening there as well, but I never made it back before I had my long-ish break.

I did notice today when I was in Kalimdor that even though I have continent filtering off still, I was not getting pauses there.  I haven't done archy in a while back in Pandaria, though, to see if it's still a problem there for me.

I have totally completed itIT.lua, you can view it here:

Dridzt: Thanks, moved it to ticket 446.

Is it different to the translation already submitted via the localization app?

    disable tooltip

Is there a way to completly disable the tooltip on the minimap icon? I like the icon but the tooltip is just anoying. I even reduced the size to the minimum but it still not useful at all (for me). Thanks in advance.

  • #1620

I am experiencing a problem whereby the tooltip (which is toggled ON in preferences; I checked) stops showing. I think this is happening after I change zones via teleport.

Once this disappearance occurs, whenever I mouseover the minimap button (as to invoke the tooltip) there is a momentary freeze of all action (as if the tooltip is trying to render), but then nothing shows up. Definitely a bug (or possibly a conflict with another addon).

Another issue, is with Tomtom support toggled ON, I get an error message asking me if I want to disable Tomtom's automatic waypoint setting or ignore the issue. Once ignore is clicked the warning no longer appears.

I wonder if the two issues here related are linked?

Please look into it. I like this addon very much, but I will discontinue using it if in order to restore the tooltip I have to continually relog (the only means I have found to be effective).

Make sure you have "show lua errors" enabled in Game options -> Help or a bug catching addon installed (at least when you're trying to troubleshoot addon problems).

For your first issue the only thing that comes to mind is if crossing a loading screen while in combat (be it portal/reload or login).

In WoW 5.x Blizzard has imposed a time limit on lua scripts (and that includes addons) during combat.

No one knows what that limit is exactly so you might be hitting that.

As for your second issue, the warning is exactly what it says. TomTom's automatic quest waypoints breaks the map in a very subtle way (this in turn breaks Archy or any other addons that might rely on the same map functionality).

The conditions for this problem are very specific so I've given the users the option to ignore the warning at their own risk (for some, the problem won't manifest itself and they can happily continue to use both addons with TomTom's automatic questpoint navigation in place - until they happen to hit a zone change where there is actually a quest they're tracking at which point Archy will break)

Hopefully if Archy breaks due to the incompatibility they'll have some idea what to change to make it working again. Since you're probably ignoring the warning there's a good chance your first issue is indeed related to the second.

Finally while addon authors generally make every effort to fix bugs and keep their addons running this is a hobby endeavor on the side of work/family/school/play, whether you discontinue using the addon or not is largely indifferent to me and I say this with no hint of hostility, it is as it is Smile

This is what I am getting (Tomtom support now off):

    Hope this is helpful,

    Driizt: Filed as ticket 442

Please visit the ticket to add some more information in the comments.

Error is partial (Archy version doesn't show), it would also help if we knew language of the wow client and OS details (windows or MacOS, 32 or 64bit)

Not a bad add-on but it the shovels no longer show up on my world map. Is that fixable? I've tried everything. I like being able to mouse over and checking to see if the digsite is the faction I need.

Go into Archy options, General section and check "Manual Tracking".

Then Archy will not automate digsite tracking. The default is to track when shown and untrack when hidden.

  • #1618

Make sure "Show Digsites" is checked off at the bottom of your world map - it became unchecked for me when I installed Archy, and I had to reactivate it.

Sounds like it also might have been the problem that Fenixdown was having last week.

  • #1611

So i was just wondering if there was a way i can see the dig sites on my mini map. If anyone knows how to fix this I'd greatly apreciate it. Thank you

  • #1613

Digsites on minimap are provided by the game since a few patches.

You can either manually track them from the minimap tracking menu, if you have selected the option in Archy to "manually track", or Archy will toggle tracking automatically depending on its enabled/disabled state.
