About Archaeology Helper
Archaeology Helper accelerates your surveying by providing triangulation on a Heads-Up Display (HUD)
- Survey then press green, yellow or red button to add new sector to the HUD and narrow down the position of your fragment
- HUD optionally includes GatherMate2 pins showing possible fragment positions, further accelerating the process
- Shows Dig Sites on Battlefield Minimap
- Keybindings and various settings
How to use
Go to dig site, Right Click last button (spade) to show HUD and Left Click to cast Survay. Then ROTATE YOUR CHAR, BUT DON'T MOVE in the needed direction and press colored button according to Survey result. Move to other location, do same again.
It is strongly recommended to use in conjunction with GatherMate2, which will show all previous or imported dig-points on the HUD. When using GatherMate2 jump onto fragment before gathering! GatherMate2 data accuracy depends on that. Minimap zoom buttons also zoom the HUD display.
Controls
Left Click main window to move it
Right Click main window: opens config
Left Click on colored button: adds new sector to the HUD
Right Click on colored button: temporarily hide/show that color

HUD
On the HUD you can also see player arrow in the center and very small red circle that represents survey success range. And ofc all colored transparent overlapping areas that were set by you with colored buttons.

Hi There,
Can adding new sector do not paint outside of archaeological site? Putting in other words; Can you be able to process it with dig site and add only intersected area?
And again similar question for area stacking, can program show only overlapping areas?
I believe this way will be more efficient to find correct digging place. I generally go to painted area and try to cut in half, after that do the same for overlapping area (at least I tought that would be the best way to use, espacially with red ones). If outside of digging site is also painted, it is harder to find the optimum place do it.
Another suggestion may be; can the add-on paint the area automatically after I survey, I believe you may be able to get the data where it stands, where it is pointed and which color it is? So digging will be more faster.
Sorry if I do comment to early, I am new on archaeology and I did use this add-on for couple hours, but these were two things to come in my head.
Regards,
P.S.: Is there any banned action on the add-on? I did see warning about it I believe. I did use it with compass from the very start, after seeing that I did close it to try to see it happens again, after that I did not see any warning, it may be related with that option.
Also does this add-on counts as botting?
Although they are old posts, I see some comments about banning with archeology helpers.
I love the app! Thank you for your hard work!
I thought I'd let you know that there is a bug with the HUD X-offset. It remembers the figure that I enter between sessions, but it doesn't actually offset the HUD. I have to click in the box and hit enter for it to apply the offset each time I log on. This bug may also exist for the other settings, but I haven't tested them.
I don't see any Draenor Artifakt Pins exept the one from clans of draenor.
Is this a Gathermate2 problem or is Archeology Helper not working propely?
The setting to show digsites on the mini map keeps getting turned off. Each character change or login I have to turn the digsites back on. Same thing happens with digsites on the main map. this has been going on since Mists.
Problems with HUD tracking in Frostfire Ridge of Draenor should now be fixed in addon v1.4.2.
Thanks to everyone for the help in tracking it down.
Verified working. Thanks!
This addon is breaking my quest log. I'm having trouble getting them to open. My quests aren't opening at all on the all quests view. And clicking on quests with icons to the right causes the icons to migrate to the right with each click.
Fixed in addon v1.4.1
I was a bit skeptical at first. But I've been using it now for 2 hours, and it is just amazing. Thank you for this, really. :)
Recommended for everyone.
This addon is amazing! It literally halved the number of surveys for me, especially on big plots. Thanks a lot, man!
i downloaded this but i see nothing. there's no changes to my screen. no nodes, nothing on the minimap or that green circle i saw on youtube with people using it. spent an hour trying to figure out how to work this
Were you in a digsite? By default the addon will show/hide when you enter/exit an active digsite.
Try "/arh config" to bring up the options. If that command fails that means the addon is not correctly installed.
First, thanks for a great addon, this really helps save time with searching for nodes.
My one comment, and I'm surprised I've not seen anyone mention this before, is that the arcs for yellow and green areas are much too broad. Yellow should be something like 45 degrees and green around 30 degrees. I've manually edited the tga files to match mhy experience and so far not found a node outside those. I've not found any more official definition of the angles though.
To my knowledge there is nothing official posted, they don't generally like to expose those kinds of details.
In my hundreds of archaeology hours using this addon the zones seem about right, although it's of course very difficult to ever "prove" if the survey angle is too wide. There's also some "slop" built in because it's difficult (and unnecessary) to perfectly match your character facing to the survey indicator. The "center line" on each zone shows your exact facing for that zone, so that's always available as a reference.
Any chance you could share your replacement images on Dropbox or something for those who want to use them?
