About Archaeology Helper

Archaeology Helper accelerates your surveying by providing triangulation on a Heads-Up Display (HUD)

  • Survey then press green, yellow or red button to add new sector to the HUD and narrow down the position of your fragment
  • HUD optionally includes GatherMate2 pins showing possible fragment positions, further accelerating the process
  • Shows Dig Sites on Battlefield Minimap
  • Keybindings and various settings

How to use

Go to dig site, Right Click last button (spade) to show HUD and Left Click to cast Survay. Then ROTATE YOUR CHAR, BUT DON'T MOVE in the needed direction and press colored button according to Survey result. Move to other location, do same again.
It is strongly recommended to use in conjunction with GatherMate2, which will show all previous or imported dig-points on the HUD. When using GatherMate2 jump onto fragment before gathering! GatherMate2 data accuracy depends on that. Minimap zoom buttons also zoom the HUD display.

Controls

Left Click main window to move it
Right Click main window: opens config

Left Click on colored button: adds new sector to the HUD
Right Click on colored button: temporarily hide/show that color

Arrow button: undo last sector

Left Click spade: cast Survey
Right Click spade: show/hide the HUD
Middle Click spade: open Archaeology window

Use "/arh" or "/arhcfg" for command line help

HUD

On the HUD you can also see player arrow in the center and very small red circle that represents survey success range. And ofc all colored transparent overlapping areas that were set by you with colored buttons.

version 0.9 bugged out on macro, I use macro to do /arh ar to add red, and do the same for yellow and green, it's not working anymore so I revert back to 0.83
  • #92
sorry for that, have not checked.
fixed in 0.91, also commands to "toggle color" and "remove last" are added now.

FYI - *possible* issue with latest release. Noticed that the Archeology UI opens up empty (not listing nodes). Resolution: /reloadui clears it up. It is, however, inconvenient. Love the AddOn
  • #88
correction: Not Listing anything on the Races tab (had "nodes" on the brain...)
  • #93
    fixed in 0.91
it was due badly writen blizzard's function wich fails their addon

If you are still adding features, it might be cool to temporarily disable the hud if you are not in a zone with an active site. I think this is possible to detect. I saw some other arch addon that listed zones with active sites.
  • #91
yes, looks possible, will try to add

GatherMate2 was recording new archaelogy nodes but has since stopped. I haven't done a thorough test but I suspect it's due to Arh (or maybe Archy). I kind of suspect Arh more because Archy's blue dots are also not showing up. I'll try an isolation test.
  • #84
i can confirm that with Arh loaded, GH2's nodes stop being displayed on the minimap. They do, however, appear on the main map. Also, Routes doesn't seem to be getting an event that it needs, because it isn't registering the new nodes as they are found.

Switching Arh off puts everything back to normal. Are you responding to an event, perhaps, but not passing it upstream after you've finished with it?
  • #85
tested with only two Arh and "GatherMate2 ver 1.0.8" enabled.
everyting works as intended, pins are visible and save between sessions

gathermate2 pins are redirected to arh's HUD. so if you have HUD visible you'll see pins on the HUD instead minimap (you can turn off such behaviour in the settings if you don't like). but by default HUD is off after login so you will see pins on minimap. so i can't understand or reproduce your problem.
looks like you have some unusual settings.

Love this AddOn, gotta ask though: What's the Unit Frames you have in the screenshots that make the Unit Frame and Map square? I really dig that but can't find it on here.
  • #80
    unitframe is X-Perl UnitFrames
minimap is sexymap, there is option deep inside to make it square
    both are wellknown actually
  • #81
Thanks for the quick reply. I assumed it was something well known, I just briefly looked for some of the popular ones and didn't see it set up the exact same way. Thanks. :)

Basically AVR for Archaeology. Blizz will probably break the addon.
  • #96
    1) AVR wasn't 'banned', Blizzard removed the ability for addons to detect the camera angle so the mechanism it used to effectively paint onto the 3D world was removed, because they didn't -want- them painting on the 3D world.
    2) ArH does not paint on the 3D world, therefore Blizzard will have no issue.
