About Archaeology Helper

Archaeology Helper accelerates your surveying by providing triangulation on a Heads-Up Display (HUD)

  • Survey then press green, yellow or red button to add new sector to the HUD and narrow down the position of your fragment
  • HUD optionally includes GatherMate2 pins showing possible fragment positions, further accelerating the process
  • Shows Dig Sites on Battlefield Minimap
  • Keybindings and various settings

How to use

Go to dig site, Right Click last button (spade) to show HUD and Left Click to cast Survay. Then ROTATE YOUR CHAR, BUT DON'T MOVE in the needed direction and press colored button according to Survey result. Move to other location, do same again.
It is strongly recommended to use in conjunction with GatherMate2, which will show all previous or imported dig-points on the HUD. When using GatherMate2 jump onto fragment before gathering! GatherMate2 data accuracy depends on that. Minimap zoom buttons also zoom the HUD display.

Controls

Left Click main window to move it
Right Click main window: opens config

Left Click on colored button: adds new sector to the HUD
Right Click on colored button: temporarily hide/show that color

Arrow button: undo last sector

Left Click spade: cast Survey
Right Click spade: show/hide the HUD
Middle Click spade: open Archaeology window

Use "/arh" or "/arhcfg" for command line help

HUD

On the HUD you can also see player arrow in the center and very small red circle that represents survey success range. And ofc all colored transparent overlapping areas that were set by you with colored buttons.

I love this addon, make my archaeology work much easier! but there's some strange thing, the HUD on my priest is very large, around 200% of its original size, I didn't change any setting, it was on the default setting, the other character is ok, only priest. and if I change the scale on the priest, all other characters r effected, become very small.

It is based on the Mini map zoom, so if you zoomed in all the way the Hud is bigger.

  • #242

im not sure if it started just now, but red/yellow/green areas and little circles arent on same dimension anymore. while i fly they move in different speed.

  • #246

It's a problem with Gathermate not knowing which zone you're in.

  • #245

Ive got that too every once in awhile, just since updating gathermate today.

  • #243

and..... its fixed after reloading ui. odd

  • #244

I was just seeing that too, /reload made it go away. Was only really noticable while a red/yellow/green block was up

  • #241

I also noticed this is working fine once you update GatherMate to 5.x

It just no longer tells you the site is exhausted, because in 5.x you get 6 artifacts out of a site instead of 3, but other than that, it's fine.

The 4.x version is working fine for me on 5.x, just "Load out of date addons". biashanord still has exclusive control of the source repo, but  I'll update the TOC eventually if he doesn't get to it.

    Please report any problems here:

This great addon deserves an update --- missing it

    please update

Archaeology was confusing, frustrating, and boring before, but this addon has helped tremendously. Thank you!

    Great addon, works perfectly!

But (there's always a but), I'd love to see this addon integrated with libdatabroker library, being able, for instance, to toggle between displaying/hidding the addon's main window.

    Keep up the good work!

This mod would be perfect if after your second survey, it only showed overlapping regions. Would be much less screen clutter, and even easier to zero in on artifact location.

Still an amazing addon, thanks for the hard work making it for us.

I just wanted to thank you for making this addon. I never leveled archaeology beyond skill level 5 because of how boring it was. This addon along with GatherMate make leveling archaeology easy and most importantly fun! I have been digging sites all day! Laughing So thank you and keep up the good work!
