About Archaeology Helper

Archaeology Helper accelerates your surveying by providing triangulation on a Heads-Up Display (HUD)

  • Survey then press green, yellow or red button to add new sector to the HUD and narrow down the position of your fragment
  • HUD optionally includes GatherMate2 pins showing possible fragment positions, further accelerating the process
  • Shows Dig Sites on Battlefield Minimap
  • Keybindings and various settings

How to use

Go to dig site, Right Click last button (spade) to show HUD and Left Click to cast Survay. Then ROTATE YOUR CHAR, BUT DON'T MOVE in the needed direction and press colored button according to Survey result. Move to other location, do same again.
It is strongly recommended to use in conjunction with GatherMate2, which will show all previous or imported dig-points on the HUD. When using GatherMate2 jump onto fragment before gathering! GatherMate2 data accuracy depends on that. Minimap zoom buttons also zoom the HUD display.

Controls

Left Click main window to move it
Right Click main window: opens config

Left Click on colored button: adds new sector to the HUD
Right Click on colored button: temporarily hide/show that color

Arrow button: undo last sector

Left Click spade: cast Survey
Right Click spade: show/hide the HUD
Middle Click spade: open Archaeology window

Use "/arh" or "/arhcfg" for command line help

HUD

On the HUD you can also see player arrow in the center and very small red circle that represents survey success range. And ofc all colored transparent overlapping areas that were set by you with colored buttons.

    Hey Guys,

Everytime when I change the zone from Barrens to Stonetalon Mountains or Uldum to Tanaris, my fps goes from 60 to 5. I can get my 60fps back when I open the world map. My addons:

Addon Control Panel, Archy, ArkInventory, Atlas, AtlasLoot Enhanced, AuctionLite, BattlegroudTargets, BG Defender, Capping Battleground Timers, CauterizeCooldown, CombustionHelper, DocsDebugRunes, DBM, DBM WotLK, BC an Vanilla mods, Gatherer, GatherMate2, Galdius, GoblinVendorFilter, Healers have to die, Mage Nuggets, Omen Threat Meter, PhoenixStyle, PlayerScore, Postal, Power Auras Classic, Prat 3.0, Rawr, ReforgeSaver, Scorchio! 2, ShadowTimers, Skada Damage Meter, Tidy Plates, TipTac, WIM and an Modified TukUi : Sinaris-AsphyxiaUi 5.0

I hope you can find whats the problem :D

The HUD scaling keeps resetting.  The smaller the compass, the larger the gathermate nodes are.

  • #233

It appears that the HUD is linked to the minimap.  If the minimap is zoomed in then the HUD/compass will be a lot bigger.

    Great Addon!

Can you make an option to cancel out non overlapping parts of red? Edit: Or green or yellow :-)

I thought about exactly the same as Pirex1900. Addon could delete parts which are outside

    Edit 2:

Maybe I need to clarify a bit. If you mark it with a second survey (whatever color) the nonoverlapping parts can be deleted. makes it even easier.

Pointer to Closest Digsite would be amazing, especially if you could just integrate it with TomTom like Archy does, the only thing i miss about that addon.

  • #225

The scaling keeps jumping around seemingly at random. More nuisance than anything, but it is pretty annoying having to open the options and change the scale every couple of minutes.

    Otherwise, GREAT addon.

what scaling? how to reproduce it? its better to make ticket on dev site.

This addon is causing a crash-to-desktop error in 4.3 PTR.

    Error #132 Fatal Exception
  • #222

    can't reproduce on 4.3

You cant unbind anything once binded through the addon interface, but I fixed it by going into the wow default keybinding menu.

    fixed in version 0.92

    Halp D:

Everytime I log out, it apparently shrinks my scaling (eventhough the scaling at the settings is still at max). So everytime I log on, there's a shrinked version (as if it reset the scaling, but not the scaling-bar). So I have to reset my settings everytime.
