AI's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".

AI uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.

You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.

Overview:

  • unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
  • assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
  • assign categories to the bar of your choice
  • configurable bars per row
  • configurable width
  • separate keybindings for bag, keyring and bank viewing


Key Bindings:
Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
click on Key Bindings
scroll down to ArkInventory
bind the keys you want to use

Beta Versions:

ensure you make a backup copy of your saved variables file before installing a beta version - you normally cannot revert back to the release version without that backup. your saved variable file is normally located in World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua

if you have the curse client set to download beta versions then it is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file - do not complain if you lose them or they get screwed up because you installed a beta version, its what beta versions tend to do.

a simple way to back it up is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of AI is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-3-01-09.lua

    theres only one way to "add" new bars now and thats to move a category to the last bar and then insert an empty bar to create a new row.

    yea i figured this out yesterday, apparently you have to have categories assigned to the last bar for whatever reason before adding new bars, i was trying to add them before having assigned categories. thx for the help

    Could we have cosmetic/display settings and sorting/category settings split up? I would like to have the display settings consistence across all characters while having different sorting settings. But as it stands now it's a lot of trouble to accomplish. If I have to make a cosmetic change after all other settings are applied, I would have to go through all profiles and make changes individually. I also would have to duplicate display settings for bank/bag/so-on manually if I want to have different sorting settings for them.

    I am having an Issue with my addon. I have a few spots set up in my bags for items like Trash, BoE gear, soulbound items and so on. Lately I have noticed that any Items that I pick up WILL NOT move from the general section into any of the predesignated areas that i have assigned for it, UNLESS I open up edit mode and then close out of edit mode. Any help?

    how do i make the tokens show with my gold and open slots cant figure out how to do that

    first time (ie when you have none)
    press C (character screen)
    click on currencies tab
    click on the currency you want tracked
    tick "show on backpack"
    ie the same way you would normally turn it on

    once you have at least one you can just click on the icon in the ai status frame to change them around

    He there...any luck with changing where the names go instead of then defaulting to the bottom all the time after making it anchor top left?

    next version will allow you to move it off automatic and force it to either top or bottom.
