AI's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".

AI uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.

You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.

Overview:

  • unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
  • assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
  • assign categories to the bar of your choice
  • configurable bars per row
  • configurable width
  • separate keybindings for bag, keyring and bank viewing

Key Bindings:
Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
click on Key Bindings
scroll down to ArkInventory
bind the keys you want to use

See ReadMe.txt and VersionHistory.txt for further details

Beta Versions:

ensure you make a backup copy of your saved variables file before installing a beta version - you normally cannot revert back to the release version without that backup. your saved variable file is normally located in World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua

if you have the curse client set to download beta versions then it is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file - do not complain if you lose them or they get screwed up because you installed a beta version, its what beta versions tend to do.

a simple way to back it up is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of AI is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-3-01-09.lua

I'm trying to do a very simple rule:

not outfit( ) and equip( ) and soulbound( )

I want it to sort any item not in a set into a spot in my inventory so I can easily see items I've replaced and need to bank or DE. However, anytime I create a rule that uses outfit in this way, whether not outfit () or outfit (), it breaks the build in soulbound equipment rule - even if I don't assign the new rule to anything. Just the act of creating this rule seems to break it. Am I doing something wrong?
  • #2556
sorry, what do you mean "breaks the rule"? are you getting an error message of some sort? or are your rules just not working?
  • #2562
I'm not sure what is going on - now everything is working fine in my bag, but in my bank if I assigned system default to 1, and equipment soulbound to 2, and don't assign anything else, nothing goes into the Equipment Soulbound bar.
  • #2563
What I did to get around this was to just assign everything except default to bar 2, and just leave default on Bar 1 so all the soundbound equipment ends up there. Still pretty weird, I know this worked before.

Using ArkInventory 3.02.45 and Outfitter 5.0b8.

    Rule for items in outfit:

    outfit ()

    works.

However, rules for item in specific outfit (for example battleground)

    outfit ( "Battleground" )

    does not work.

No error is thrown, but no items are moved.

    Pleas advise.
  • #2549
which outfit mod are you using?
  • #2550
    As above, Outfitter 5.0b8. ;)
  • #2554
sorry, missed that. i presume its a beta version as i have 4.10 and curse says thats the latest?

the new outfitter must have changed the API function which means outfit wont work. i wont change my code until theres goes gold or i end up breaking it for all non beta users

the first one is most likely because you upgraded with wow running. i moved all the companion data to a new file, which wow wont see until you exit and come back in.

2nd error i cant figure out, a couple of people have said they get it but i cant see how it would be possible.
  • #2541
and if I disable AddonLoader the addon won't start, no error message
  • #2543
you cant just disable addonloader - you have to remove it completely or any mod that uses it just wont load
