when posting a comment about an error do not include the list of addons, just the actual error and trace is fine.

AI's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".

AI uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.

You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.

  • unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
  • assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
  • assign categories to the bar of your choice
  • configurable bars per row
  • configurable width
  • separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing

Key Bindings:
Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
click on Key Bindings
scroll down to ArkInventory
bind the keys you want to use

See ReadMe.txt and VersionHistory.txt for further details

Beta Versions:

ensure you make a backup copy of your saved variables file before installing a beta version - you normally cannot revert back to the release version without that backup. your saved variable file is normally located in World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua

if you have the curse client set to download beta versions then it is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file - do not complain if you lose them or they get screwed up because you installed a beta version, its what beta versions tend to do.

a simple way to back it up is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of AI or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-3-01-09.lua, or ArkInventory-2013-12-28.lua

    edit arkinventory.lua

    line 4224 onwards should look like the code below - without the assert line - add that assert line in and post the error stack. that should tell me how the code got there when it shouldnt have;

if not ArkInventory.Frame_Container_Draw( obj ) then
assert( nil, "forced code error, please report stack trace to author" )
ArkInventory.OutputError( ArkInventory.Global.Location[loc_id].Name, " data has become corrupted and will be erased, please visit the ", ArkInventory.Global.Location[loc_id].Name, " again to update its data" )
    ArkInventory.Frame_Main_Hide( loc_id )
    ArkInventory.EraseSavedData(, loc_id )
    return false

Don't bother reading the comments from the author or anything. I mean it's not like he warned you you might "lose your bags" and how to fix it or anything.
  • #3177
Having the same problem with displaying inventory as well with the new update. Could view bags after disabling the mod.
  • #3179
try reading the notes below to solve the problem
  • #3175
Even with r62 I am still getting the unresponsive "b" command. I too hear the bag sound but nothing appears. Strangely enough this is only the case on one of the accounts I've logged in with after installing r62. Both accounts have all the same other addons shared but I'm only able to open my bags on one of them. R60 still functions perfectly as far as I can tell.
  • #3174
I keep losing frames in the UI, and Ark is one of the frames that just vanishes. No error, no message, I click the bag icon on my broker display or hit "b" and I hear the bag open sound, but nothing shows up. I had to uninstall ark inventory to get into my bags...I wish I had an error or something to share, but there was none. Any ideas what that might be?
  • #3168
Heres a new one that I'm not sure you are aware of Ark.

I logged on with one of my toons and tried to retrieve an expired item from my mailbox using the postal addon("Girdle of Gailforce" to be exact).

The item bugged and the tooltip was stuck on retrieving item information.

Upon shift-clicking the item to force retieval the item disappeared and did not show in my bags (Arkinventory). After closing Arkinventory I found I could not reopen it on any of my toons even after a restart.

    Any thoughts?

fyi, I could view my bags again after disabling Arkinventory also, the only other mod I am running that may have effected this (that I can think of) is Auctioneer.

reposition if your window isnt on screen, once its there it should stay in place and scale properly even through uireloads/logouts
  • #3176
The anchor / positioning problem seems to be fixed in 3.0.62.
    Thank you! :-)
  • #3169
reposition" every time I log in on a toon.
    Using Release version 3.2.61
  • #3170
    Same here with r268.
2 profiles shared by 2 chars and using the default profile for a third char.
Everytime I login or reload the UI on any char any window (bag/bank/etc.) seems to be off screen or invisible.
  • #3171
curse packager is borked atm, cant push new builds, get .62 from one of the other sites if you need it now
  • #3173
Helped me too, just needed to Reposition once. :-))
(On a side note, a friend who also uses ArkInv had no problem at all.)
  • #3172
Thanks a lot, that fixed it for me. :)
  • #3165

3.02.61-nolib is working fine for me. I had to do an initial repositioning of all my AI windows when I upgraded to it, but they haven't gone offscreen after multiple logouts and logins.

I have Curse Client set to "Alpha" for all downloads. I'm not sure if that might be affecting one of AI's disembedded libaries. It looks like the only dependency that's been recently updated is Ace3 (currently at r978).
