when posting a comment about an error do not include the list of addons, just the actual error and trace is fine.


AI's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".

AI uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.

You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.

Overview:

  • unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
  • assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
  • assign categories to the bar of your choice
  • configurable bars per row
  • configurable width
  • separate keybindings for bag, keyring and bank viewing


Key Bindings:
Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
click on Key Bindings
scroll down to ArkInventory
bind the keys you want to use

Beta Versions:

ensure you make a backup copy of your saved variables file before installing a beta version - you normally cannot revert back to the release version without that backup. your saved variable file is normally located in World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua

if you have the curse client set to download beta versions then it is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file - do not complain if you lose them or they get screwed up because you installed a beta version, its what beta versions tend to do.

a simple way to back it up is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of AI is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-3-01-09.lua

    I just want to reiterate this point. My ArkInventory memory usage goes up by 0.5-0.7MB of memory usage per half second, and is having extremely high CPU usage (62.98% while idle - 70% when opening bags).

    There's an image of what I'm getting, the ArkInventory memory usage continues to rise until garbage collection is done (at which point it resets to about 8MB and starts rising again).

    As of patch 5.3 or the last upfate all of my rules are broken.  Remaking them does not fix.

    The outfit problem is casused by a change to the EM unpack string..

    To fix the error yourself:

    Change file : \ArkInventoryRules\ArkInventoryRules.lua

    Old line #830 :

    local wearing, bank, bags, slot, bag = EquipmentManager_UnpackLocation( location )

    Change line to this (all in one line, ignore the word wrap in this comment):

    local wearing, bank, bags, voidstorage, slot, bag = EquipmentManager_UnpackLocation( location )

    I am gettung a rule error

    all i have is outfit("resto")

    and when i save i get

    rules.lua 828  bad argument #1 to pairs table expected, got nil

    rule 7 flagged as damaged and will no longer be used

     

    ideas?

    Renaming the "outfit" to tooltip ("tt") worked for me. Only tricky thing I had to do was rename my "resto" set because so many items use "restores xx" and it was picking those up as well.

    I'm getting a simlar error in the chat log with my outfit rule.

    It is because of the voidstorage change..

    You can patch it yourself by changing the following file:

    \ArkInventoryRules\ArkInventoryRules.lua

    Need to add "voidstorage" to the unpack string.. 

    Old line #830 :

    Change to :

    I am reporting this error once again.  I have gotten it so many times this morning while pet battling in The Wicked Tunnels of Maradoun.  It forces me to reload everytime it happens.  And it happens everytime i finish a pet battle but my character gets attacked immediately on exiting the pet battle.

    I have started a panda monk and for some reason Arkinventory says my bags are empty. I can open my bag and click around to pick stuff up, but there are no icons (until I click on something). Also the bags at the bottom of the window say 16/16, 6/6 and 8/8 as if they truely are empty. If I disable Arkinventory and log in I can open the regular bags and see all of my stuff. I made a blood elf monk and an orc warrior to test it, and the same thing is happening to them (these are the only toons I have on this server. The addon works fine on another server I play on.)

    I still cannot figure out what is causing this. I have toons on 4 different servers. Draenor, Arygos, and Staghelm (current main) all work fine, but my toons on Blackhand (which my guild will be transfering to next month show "nothing" in their bags (and yes there are items in their bags).

    I use AI for a very long time (since TBC I think). I love it :)  But, now AI takes more than 14 MiB RAM in the game, and no matter which character I am playing (even a new char), the number is always extremly HIGH...

    Is there any way that can reduce the usage of memory?
