AI's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".

AI uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.

You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.

Overview:

  • unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
  • assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
  • assign categories to the bar of your choice
  • configurable bars per row
  • configurable width
  • separate keybindings for bag, keyring and bank viewing

Key Bindings:
Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
click on Key Bindings
scroll down to ArkInventory
bind the keys you want to use

See ReadMe.txt and VersionHistory.txt for further details

Beta Versions:

ensure you make a backup copy of your saved variables file before installing a beta version - you normally cannot revert back to the release version without that backup. your saved variable file is normally located in World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua

if you have the curse client set to download beta versions then it is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file - do not complain if you lose them or they get screwed up because you installed a beta version, its what beta versions tend to do.

a simple way to back it up is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of AI is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-3-01-09.lua

    Thanks!  Worked great

    This seems to work. Thanks.

There are 3 spots in the ArkInventory.xml file that need to be commented out.. All 3 lines have the same exact statement..

Seems the game dosen't like the missing file name as a base texture

    Lines to change   240, 428 & 571

    From :  <NormalTexture name="$parentNormalTexture" urgency="5" file="" />

    To:        <!-- 5.1 Temp Fix   <NormalTexture name="$parentNormalTexture" urgency="5" file="" />  -->

I've been trying to debug the green boxes, and I'll post what I've found here in case it can help Ark or anyone else independently working on this.

In ArkInventory.SetItemButtonTexture, obj:SetTexture is returning 1, meaning that the texture files can still be found. However, the green boxes as of 5.0.4 are a symptom of texture files *not* being found, as explained at http://www.wowpedia.org/Patch_5.0.4/API_changes . It could be a file type mismatch or something.

However, obj:SetTexture is working in other places, i.e. the TEXTURE_ITEM_QUEST_BANG on unused quest items (did anyone else think that was a native feature, only to just find out that that's an Ark innovation?). So it's not like all the paths are messed up.

If you type some random text into the search box of the addon, like "asdasd" all the items that don't match that text (which happens to be all items in game) will be tinted a dark green, however, you can now distiniguish the tooltip images of them.

  • #4469

This is definitly a temporary work around. Thank you for pointing this out!

Was just about to post this.  Probably means it's just a highlighting issue with the code then, not a missing texture issue.

I am also getting the bright green bug in the bags.

  • #4461

Guys, give Adibags a try while you wait on arkinventory.

  • #4458

If it helps the troubleshooting, if you click on an item the tooltip does appear.

  • #4455

The items do appear if you click them, but then disappear immediately.

  • #4452

im at work so this isnt going to get fixed for at least 12 hours

if all the textures are really bright green then that texture is missing - its possible that blizzard are caching the textures now so you dont have them when you start - does it still do it after a /reload or exit?

it could also be a bug in the bag highlight code - if you could open the bag changer and mouseover a bag, see if it highlights and then brings them all back, or not.

its also possible that its a background issue, you may want to try changing the items background from texture to just a plain colour and see if that helps (it probably wont)

  • #4460

No luck, Ark.  Tried a /reload, relogging, no change.

Bag changer also didn't change anything.

Played around in config:  Nothing there seems to have much effect.  Tried Settings->Window->Background, played around in Frames, and under both Items and Bars.  Nothing I did had ANY effect, even Clumping, which should've changed the way the window was drawn.

I think the fault lies higher up than just display of items.

Worth noting though; if you click and hold on an item, the icon are still there.  Item counts show through the green.

    Also:

If I type a search in the box for anything, even something that doesn't exist, it moves to a darker green color and I can see all of the items in my bag.

I think it's worth noting that BugSack isn't trapping an AI errors.
