when posting a comment about an error do not include the list of addons, just the actual error and trace is fine.


AI's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".

AI uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.

You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.

Overview:

  • unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
  • assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
  • assign categories to the bar of your choice
  • configurable bars per row
  • configurable width
  • separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing


Key Bindings:
Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
click on Key Bindings
scroll down to ArkInventory
bind the keys you want to use

Beta Versions:

ensure you make a backup copy of your saved variables file before installing a beta version - you normally cannot revert back to the release version without that backup. your saved variable file is normally located in World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua

if you have the curse client set to download beta versions then it is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file - do not complain if you lose them or they get screwed up because you installed a beta version, its what beta versions tend to do.

a simple way to back it up is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of AI or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-3-01-09.lua, or ArkInventory-2013-12-28.lua

    I still cannot figure out what is causing this. I have toons on 4 different servers. Draenor, Arygos, and Staghelm (current main) all work fine, but my toons on Blackhand (which my guild will be transfering to next month show "nothing" in their bags (and yes there are items in their bags).

    I use AI for a very long time (since TBC I think). I love it :)  But, now AI takes more than 14 MiB RAM in the game, and no matter which character I am playing (even a new char), the number is always extremly HIGH...

    Is there any way that can reduce the usage of memory?

    Is there a way to disable ArkInventory from being faction-centirc? With account-bound items, it'd be nice for it to be server-centric, so that I could see what's on my other-faction alts.

    Is there an option I'm missing that can turn off all of the pet-related functions? From what I can tell, AI is messing with my tooltips (most notably, the "view this pet" line/button is missing when clicking a link from chat) as well as frequently displaying inaccurate info when I am battling (it doesn't always show correct owned counts or upgrades) and becoming quite the resource hog. 

    Those issues aside, I am a very long time user of this addon and can't really imagine not using it. It addresses every single issue  I have with the default bag interface. Many thanks for this wonderful addon, and if there is a setting or a fix for the problems I'm having that would make it even better. Thanks :)

    I am consistently getting the following error when a pet battle is over and immediately exits to character battle.  That is, my character gets attacked as soon as the pet battle terminates.

    I am having this trouble aswell. It's happened to me twice. Once a long time ago (a year or so maybe) and once today. I logged in to my char and all my settings were gone and I have no idea why. 

    Is this something you are aware of, and maybe even know why?

    I'm not sure why, but something about arkinventory is suppressing the breedID window in the Auction House use of the PetBattle BreedID tooltip.  It might be breaking it everywhere, it was just pointed out to me that you COULD see AH battle pet BIDs and I couldn't, so I did some troubleshooting via process of elimination and the AH. 

    Is there a setting I can turn off to make it stop doing this?

    Thanks for a fantastic addon,  I would be lost without it!

    Please add battlepet breedid info to your addon when it shows what pets are in the battle with you and ask if its an upgrade?

    ** NEVERMIND *** Somehow my Outfit slot ended up with the System/Equipment category.

    Ever since last week the Outfit() rule doesn't seem to be working.  Now all equipment is getting put into that slot instead of just equipment that is saved as one of the Bliz Equipment Manager sets.

    i was wondering why you changed / removed the ability to spereate boe items and soulbound items in the inventory editor. everything falls under a single equippable catagory, which ruins the AI bags for me. please put this back the way it was.. it was sooooo much better. also when i set up the AI mount to include / exclude certian mounts this feature always goes back to default when i log out, and i have to go back through the mount "LDB" list and exclude the mounts i dont want to use again.

    A simple rule does the trick ; "equipand sb)" will select all equipable soulbound items while "equipand not sb)" will select all BoE equipable items (maybe you'de have to set a quality threshold as this rule also selects common quality items) :)

    Check out the wiki if you need any other rules :D

    As for the mounts, I don't really know about that, it's linked to the profile settings so if you tried logging into another character that has a different profile, it might explain why it's "resetting" the selection. If not, I don't know so maybe Arkayenro can give you an answer if that problem remains.

    ArkInventory reverse order

    Hi,

    First: amazing addon. Kudos for your work, it's really impressive.

    Now, everything is great, but I'm having ONE problem: when you set your item anchor to top left, shouldn't the items grow FROM top left?

    What I'm experiencing: With top left item anchor, items grow from bottom right (when I loot an item it goes to the first free bottom-rightest slot, when I sort my items it starts from the bottom right.)

    What I would like: With a top left item anchor I'd like my items to grow  from top left. Like this: http://i.imgur.com/DVsq2G8.jpg

    If I set a bottom right item anchor, then the items grow from the top left, but I have this annoying blank space: http://i.imgur.com/RQRpUt3.jpg

    I would really like no blank space AND items growing from top left. Is this possible?
