AI's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".

AI uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.

You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.

Overview:

  • unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
  • assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
  • assign categories to the bar of your choice
  • configurable bars per row
  • configurable width
  • separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing

Key Bindings:
Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
click on Key Bindings
scroll down to ArkInventory
bind the keys you want to use

See ReadMe.txt and VersionHistory.txt for further details

Beta Versions:

ensure you make a backup copy of your saved variables file before installing a beta version - you normally cannot revert back to the release version without that backup. your saved variable file is normally located in World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua

if you have the curse client set to download beta versions then it is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file - do not complain if you lose them or they get screwed up because you installed a beta version, its what beta versions tend to do.

a simple way to back it up is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of AI or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-3-01-09.lua, or ArkInventory-2013-12-28.lua

technically thats not blank space, its empty slots. item anchor point is really slot anchor point, but item makes more sense to most people.

remove the sorting you have and youll probably get items in the top left instead of empty slots but thats not really going to be helpful.

you would probably be better off moving the empty slots onto their own bar so theyre out of the way, then the items will always be in the "correct" position for you.

    ArkInventory

Love this addon, but it's apparently causing a super slowdown when I log into a toon.  If I disable this addon, the toon loads normally.  This has been happening since 5.2 was released.  Is there anything I can do to help troubleshoot this?

  • #4597

I, too, like your addon and have used it for quite a while now.  Today I got the following and I have seen it a couple of times now.  I suspect that it has more to do with the slow downs caused by Blizz's processing and those caused by Pet Tracker which I also use.

    Date: 2013-03-14 13:17:28 ID: 1 Error occured in: Global Count: 1 Message: ...rface\AddOns\ArkInventory\ArkInventoryPetJournal.lua line 75:    script ran too long Debug:    (tail call): ?    ...rface\AddOns\ArkInventory\ArkInventoryPetJournal.lua:75: FilterClear()    ...rface\AddOns\ArkInventory\ArkInventoryPetJournal.lua:164: Scan()    ...rface\AddOns\ArkInventory\ArkInventoryPetJournal.lua:54:       ...rface\AddOns\ArkInventory\ArkInventoryPetJournal.lua:40    (tail call): ?    [C]: ?    [string "safecall Dispatcher[2]"]:9:       [string "safecall Dispatcher[2]"]:5    (tail call): ?    ...Inventory\Externals\Ace3-AceBucket\AceBucket-3.0.lua:116: func()    ...s\AckisRecipeList\libs\AceTimer-3.0\AceTimer-3.0.lua:43:       ...s\AckisRecipeList\libs\AceTimer-3.0\AceTimer-3.0.lua:36 Locals: None

I like the pet journal information displayed in the concise form in the chat pane.   As an enchancement, could you consider adding the Battle Pet IDs?  Personally, i prefer the numbers instead of the letters system.  so it would look like [Amber Moth] (9/19) - Upgrade? [Amber Moth] (8/18), [Amber Moth] (3/13).  Or, maybe put that information on the info panes that popup if you click the [Amber Moth] respective links.

While I don't think the Amber Moth comes in a 3/13 that is just an example.

    Hey Guys,

Love your addon and have been using it for a few years. I'm encountering an unusual error relating to it everytime I try to focus a target. Here is the error message:

    Date: 2013-03-14 14:10:52
    ID: 1
    Error occured in: AddOn: ArkInventory
    Count: 1
Message: Error: AddOn ArkInventory attempted to call a forbidden function (FocusUnit()) from a tainted execution path.
    Debug:
    [C]: FocusUnit()
    ..\FrameXML\UnitPopup.lua:1699: func()

    [string "*:OnClick"]:1:
    [string "*:OnClick"]:1
    Locals:

If I could get any feedback on how to fix it I'd really appreciate it. Would rather not have to raid without arkinventory enabled!

That is not an ArkInventory related issue, but a long-standing issue with the blizzard code.

A long while back blizzard chose to block every 3rd party addon from setting focus via the right-click menu, instead allowing it only via their default unitframes.

You can set and clear focus with the /focus and /clearfocus macro commands, or via the keybinding interface but cannot through the right-click menu if the unitframes are being replaced.

Chances are a unitframe addon you are using is also using Ace3, which is a library of common functions often used by many addons.

Therefore errors coming happening in that can be mistakenly attributed to any other addon also using that library.

    Bank

So, I logged onto my monk today and tried to access my bank and it has every item shadowed like it is offline. I can deposit items into my bank but not take any out, and if I disable ArkInventory bank monitoring, the normal Blizz bank works fine.  Any ideas?

I'm having the same issue and it seems to be a strata problem. Doing framestack shows all elements are on the medium layer but the order within the layer seems to be wrong as the "Frame" and "FrameContainer" are higher than the actual BagItems. Compared to my bag - whish is showing correctly, where the Bag#Item# are highest on the medium layer... if any of that makes sense?

Just reloaded and it's functioning now... strange

    Rules for Raid Loot Rewards

First off, I love  your addon. Perhaps I'm just missing it, but I can't get this to work.

I've not been able to get the loot that LFR drops to be routed by a rule and sorted into a particular bag. I'm probably going to have to used the item IDs as a work around. I've tried  tt( "Open" ) or name("Open") and it will not sort even if I separate the line into a single rule. Everything I've read says that tt("Open") should work.

For example, Amber Encased Treasure Pouch.

I've tried turning all the other rules off, and also setting the priority of this rule to 1 while the other are lower, and still don't have any luck. I don't believe there are any bag assignments overriding it, either. For now, I'm just using this, which should cover most lockboxes.

id( 95619,95618,95617,97268,72201,90840,86623,95343) or tt("Right Click to Open")

If you have a better suggestion, that  would be great, thank you.

  • #4601

A long-standing issue with the blizzard code, where the code behind dropdown menus is being tainted, something which it has been demonstrated to be possible even without the use of a single addon.

Just another issue blizzard do not give a damn about fixing.

Is it possible to re-route the restacking messages to a differnet channel?
