when posting a comment about an error do not include the list of addons, just the actual error and trace is fine.

AI's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".

AI uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.

You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.

  • unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
  • assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
  • assign categories to the bar of your choice
  • configurable bars per row
  • configurable width
  • separate keybindings for bag, keyring and bank viewing

Key Bindings:
Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
click on Key Bindings
scroll down to ArkInventory
bind the keys you want to use

See ReadMe.txt and VersionHistory.txt for further details

Beta Versions:

ensure you make a backup copy of your saved variables file before installing a beta version - you normally cannot revert back to the release version without that backup. your saved variable file is normally located in World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua

if you have the curse client set to download beta versions then it is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file - do not complain if you lose them or they get screwed up because you installed a beta version, its what beta versions tend to do.

a simple way to back it up is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of AI is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-3-01-09.lua

I have in my addons folder. Does Arkinventory use that?

If not, I'm assuming that's something installed by another addon I'm no longer using, and I'll get rid of it.

  • #3827

datastore_inventory belongs to another mod, all my directories start with arkinventory

  • #3822

my saved variables and/or WTF files keep deleting/resetting themselves. i've had some luck manually replacing the files from an older archived version, but every once in a while since the 4.3 patch i will open my bags, and it will all be pure default settings. any help would be appreciated

  • #3823

thats a 4.3 patch bug, blizzards own variables dont save, eg the mature language filter and some others.  addons have no control over the actual savedvariable file at all.

i presume theyll fix it eventually but its really annoying in the mean time.

  • #3816

I'm having a bit of an issue since 4.3.  I have my bags sorted (and have had them like this for a long time) basically by use.  One of the bag slots is only my equipments set items, anything that is part of an equipment set goes there using the rule outfit("DPS","Tank","Fishing") and so on.  For some reason since 4.3 and the last update any weapons that are part of a set won't go in the slot but instead get stuck in the slot that has only the System Default rule.  No matter what I try I cannot get the weapons to not get put in the system default.

  • #3817

enable edit mode, click on the item and check the debug data - ie does it have a category assigned (which would override the rule)

  • #3830

stupid forum, why cant i reply to your post, it keeps sticking it here instead

its meant to do that, any rule that isnt assigned to a bar goes onto the one the system default is on

although i am changing that so that if a rule or category isnt assigned to a bar then it wont be enabled, should be a little bit more intuitive that way.

in the mean time you could add location( "bank" ) to your rule so that it only collects bank items

  • #3818

OK, they're part of the rule Weapons which I only use in my bank.  The Weapons rule isn't used at all in my bags.  If I disable the Weapons rule then these weapons will go where they're supposed to in my bags with the Outfits, but then I don't have them sorted in my bank obviously like I would like.  I guess I'm wondering why that rule is taking any effect in my bags when it's not being used and how I can get around this.

edit: Ok, it's sticking anything this falls into a rule that I don't have assigned to a specific slot in my bags into the System Default.  I can't find a way to get it to stop doing that.

Trying to use this, and getting a message when trying to prospect ore:

"ArkInventory has been blocked from an action only available to the Blizzard UI.  You can disable this addon and reload the UI."

    Seems to be a problem.

  • #3815

dont move or turn while prospecting - there was a really old blizzard bug that did this but i thought theyd fixed it

  • #3812

There seems to be a problem with Void Storage and Reforging with the current version of ArkInventory. If I log out and disable the addon, both works.  Any fix around the corner for this - and are you including items in Voidstorage to be searchable in future version ?

Great addon btw - cant live without it!

  • #3813

seems to be a general issue with the reforger, its interface screws up entirely, and the void storage seems to just stop showing your items - both happen after some time in the game, a logout fixes them.

  • #3825

I had the problem once and just a reloadui fixed it.

  • #3808

Why was rule bag( ) removed? Is there a replacement?
