AI's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".

AI uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.

You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.

Overview:

  • unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
  • assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
  • assign categories to the bar of your choice
  • configurable bars per row
  • configurable width
  • separate keybindings for bag, keyring and bank viewing

Key Bindings:
Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
click on Key Bindings
scroll down to ArkInventory
bind the keys you want to use

See ReadMe.txt and VersionHistory.txt for further details

Beta Versions:

ensure you make a backup copy of your saved variables file before installing a beta version - you normally cannot revert back to the release version without that backup. your saved variable file is normally located in World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua

if you have the curse client set to download beta versions then it is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file - do not complain if you lose them or they get screwed up because you installed a beta version, its what beta versions tend to do.

a simple way to back it up is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of AI is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-3-01-09.lua

I've been using Ai for quite a while now, and one feature I'd like to suggest is while the Mount summoning thing is really nice, it would be great if it checked to see if you're mounted, and if so, dismount, rather than just post "You're mounted, dismount before summoning another mount" when flying for instance.

Yes, I know people will dismount and fall to their deaths, but I suppose that will teach them not to press that button when high in the air.
Maybe an option setting for the careless ?
  • #3746
there should be an option under the flying mounts menu to not have the warning. just untick that if you want it to dismount while flying.

I've looked but can not find a way to do a search that spans all my characters. Is this possible with this addon?
  • #3744
There's a button that looks like a magnifying glass on the bag window - that is a cross-character search. You will have to have logged in on your characters, opened bags, bank etc. with ArkInventory enabled to be able to search.

Its blizzard who has problems, servers will be restart...

    I cant move item's either.... :(
  • #3736
Not sure if its an addon bug or not but as of 9/7/11, a few items are sticking to their slots once moved inside bags. Have done some testing and it appears that items in Tattered Hexcloth bag, Glacial bag and Otherworldly bag are affected. Items in other bags either crafted or boss drops aren't affected.

If an item is moved to a slot then placed back on the original slot, the item then becomes un clickable / movable. A /reloadUI does not fix the problem.

    Anyone else had these problems?
  • #3737
    Hi,

yes I have exactly the same problem with the Addon Bagnon. I didn't find out yet, that this is linked to a couple of bags. Sometimes it works, but most times I have bugs, if i try to move items.
  • #3739
Ok it seems, that this has nothing to do with addons. In the EU blizzard forum there is a thread that many user have the same problem:

See this link (but it's in german)
    http://eu.battle.net/wow/de/forum/topic/2364596667

    I did some tests.
This happens even if I turned off my Bagnon Addon (blizzard default inventory). But it only happens if i move an item from one bag to another bag (in the bank, too) in the inventory. So if i move it in another slot in the same bag, everything is fine.

First Off, love the addon, could not play without it. When I am setting up the addon I have found that it adds a bar when it is not always necessary.
Is there someway to turn this feature off, to only allow a Bar to be added manually? I have tried looking through the settings to see if there is something I could adjust to no avail. I wouldn't mind so bad but on some of my toons I end up having 25+ bars before I have 3 setup the way I like em.
    Thanks for your time. FG34
  • #3747
it always adds one extra row in setup mode so that you can move items onto those bars.

if yours has "too many" rows then you have categories assigned to the bars under that top row, you just dont see them when youre not in edit mode because you dont have any items from those categories.

completely agree w/ what chocobochicken said!
great job on an addon i won't play wow w/out! :)
  • #3733
I've been using this for awhile now, but I don't think I've ever fully expressed my appreciation for this add-on. This is a major game-changer for me, and it's the first add-on I've seen truly address the long-standing problems with MMO inventory management that have otherwise remained stagnant throughout the industry over the last decade. Well done, and thanks for updating!
  • #3727
Pretty please update Arkinventory - nothing else compares!

    Thanks!
