when posting a comment about an error do not include the list of addons, just the actual error and trace is fine.


AI's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".

AI uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.

You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.

Overview:

  • unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
  • assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
  • assign categories to the bar of your choice
  • configurable bars per row
  • configurable width
  • separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing


Key Bindings:
Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
click on Key Bindings
scroll down to ArkInventory
bind the keys you want to use

Beta Versions:

ensure you make a backup copy of your saved variables file before installing a beta version - you normally cannot revert back to the release version without that backup. your saved variable file is normally located in World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua

if you have the curse client set to download beta versions then it is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file - do not complain if you lose them or they get screwed up because you installed a beta version, its what beta versions tend to do.

a simple way to back it up is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of AI or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-3-01-09.lua, or ArkInventory-2013-12-28.lua

    login to the problematic toon, open the bag window,  click on the switch toons icon, select the current  toon, select erase all data.

    reload your ui and it should be ok

    i just added the opponent links because it was simpler than writing a whole new mod and i had to add most of the code in any way to handle battlepet storage and tooltips.

    custom battlepet tooltip (in config > tooltip) and item counts on critter tooltips (thats just the generic add item counts option)

    i dont touch the actual petbattle ui in any way though

    Aha, I wondered about that.  It's getting to the point that so many addons are overlapping functionality and I'm seeing odd conflicts that are getting hard to track down.

    For example, several addons are injecting info into tooltips, doing things during pet battles etc.

    I'll have to disable some and see just what's going on with the tooltips you mentioned.  You've also traditionally had a lot of configurability, so I'll check to see if there's anything pet-related.

    theres a bug in the item count code, which ill fix when i get home from work (about 10 hours)

    to get around it go into the config and under tooltip item counts tick the options to display all toons (not just me) and both factions, that should allow it to bypass the bad code.

    i think theres another issue to do with translation for some languages but im still working on that one.

    Yes, that's right, arkinventory aborts for me on the german translation. I reverted to th eprevious version of AI as this results in not properly categorized bags.

    the german client had one of the string constants i use in a different format to every other language which is why it only broke for you.

    I generally have all toons showing but not all factions. I've changed that part so that in Display/tooltips/item counts: enabled, guild bank, show tabs; are the only things checked.

    That seems to have helped. Thanks for the work around.

    I'm in agreement with striker3 and techkyle. I didn't even know which addon did it. All I knew was that I used that information on a regular basis for decision-making. This addon is one of my few cant-live-without addons.
