AI's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".

AI uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.

You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.

Overview:

  • unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
  • assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
  • assign categories to the bar of your choice
  • configurable bars per row
  • configurable width
  • separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing

Key Bindings:
Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
click on Key Bindings
scroll down to ArkInventory
bind the keys you want to use

See ReadMe.txt and VersionHistory.txt for further details

Beta Versions:

ensure you make a backup copy of your saved variables file before installing a beta version - you normally cannot revert back to the release version without that backup. your saved variable file is normally located in World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua

if you have the curse client set to download beta versions then it is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file - do not complain if you lose them or they get screwed up because you installed a beta version, its what beta versions tend to do.

a simple way to back it up is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of AI or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-3-01-09.lua, or ArkInventory-2013-12-28.lua

    Thanks for the quick reply

It is missing the DE-EU Server Krag'jin/Azshara as far as I can tell none of the items on my main (Azshara) are reflected in the tooltips on my banktoon (Krag'jin) - and vise versa also missing: gold information. Maybe a cache issue? As Items are listed under the dedicated search function? But no clue to where or on which character they are.

I also found the condense empty bag option sorry about bugging you with that. And the sorting isn't really needed but I sometimes did put my pvp set in a specific bag or my food/consumabels and just switch bags with my bank... no real issue just a small QoL change, but if there is a possibility to throw errors keep away from it ;-)

    Hey there!

I play on a mac. After the last wow patch I also updated Arkinventory. Now I noticed that it doesn't show anymore if another character has the item or if I have it in my bank. Every item only says: 11 ("Tasche" 11). I play the German game, so "Tasche" means bag. Is that feature gone?

    Cheers,

    Shyrkina

its still there, check you havent changed the tooltip options to self only, also log into the other toon and check

  • #5036

Hm, I checked the settings and no, only me is not selected. What else could it be? Does it not work on a Mac?

  • #5008

as of today 10 /17/14 ark is not saving offline contents properly.

  • #5005

I'm running 3.04.08 (issue has been there since 3.04.07 i believe), but my empty bags (the bags that are displayed but have no contents) are red-bordered, meaning AI thinks they're an "unknown" bag type. Removing the bags from my bag bar and then placing them back in seems to have fixed the issue, but I think it's gonna come back. I'll post back when it does, but I wanted to let you know.

EDIT: AFAIK, the bags function as normal.

red border just means the api didnt tell me what type of bag they are, happens if the server is a bit slow and usually only when logging into the game, a ui reload will usually fix it for the rest of the session (or moving the bag)

  • #5052

Found that a Cleanup and Refresh generally gets rid of the red slots

  • #5015

that is the bug, when i ask the server for the size of the bag it says it has 0 slots, which is ovbiously wrong as theres a bag in the slot so i just use saved data until it comes back with a size greater than zero

like it says, you can turn the warning off if you want

  • #5012

I am experiencing this same issue everytime I log in, several red squares.  Then, when I move to a new zone this goes away, but I get the following every time

ArkInventory: WARNING> Aborted scan of bag 0, location 1 [Bag] size returned was 0, rescan has been scheduled for 10 seconds. This warning can be disabled in the config menu
ArkInventory: WARNING> Aborted scan of bag -1, location 3 [Bank] size returned was 0, rescan has been scheduled for 10 seconds. This warning can be disabled in the config menu
ArkInventory: WARNING> Aborted scan of bag -3, location 3 [Bank] size returned was 0, rescan has been scheduled for 10 seconds. This warning can be disabled in the config menu

Been an Arkinventory user for a long time, but with the new patch and the updated Arkinventory (3.04.06) I constantly get a warning message "Warning: no land mount available, checking flying mount for fallback".  They roll into chat so frequently I almost can't read chat or keep up with the conversation.  It doesn't matter where I am (world, BG, dungeon, etc).

I can't figure out how to stop this warning.

upgrade to 3.04.08, i took them out because the blizzard api keeps telling me you can mount in some instances but none of the mounts actually work there

  • #5011

Excellent!   All good now, thank you!

  • #5004

    Thanks for the speedy fix!

  • #4998

I can not find how to disable the whole new sorting feature WoW added, All i would like is a stacking like items and depositing reagents into reagent tab. I seen on change list there was a option to do this i can not find it. any help would be greatly apprectiated.
