Profession AddOns

Due to the increasing data size and memory usage with each WoW expansion, the professions have been split into their own AddOns; you need only download the ones you'll be using. Each installed and enabled profession AddOn will load whenever it's first accessed by the ARL core.

You can either download the Ackis Recipe List Addon Pack which has Ackis Recipe List's core and all profession AddOns, or install the profession AddOns separately:

Note that Ackis Recipe List will not work without the AddOn for the profession you are trying to scan. If you attempt to scan a profession that is not installed, you will be informed.

Known Issues

  • When gaining a reputation level recipes for that faction will still appear in red when doing a scan.
  • Recipe acquire information is slightly inaccurate. We are updating recipes daily as information is identified. If you find something inaccurate or wrong, submit a ticket here and we will get it updated.

Feature Requests/Bug Reporting

Ackis Recipe List strives to integrate with existing trade skill mods out there. If you have a request for integration, please submit a feature request at WoW Ace. We make no promises to implement the feature at all. There is a limited API documented to interface with the ARL database. Haven't played wow since the end of Wrath, came back and started using mods again after two months. Having issues with where to put the profession mod folders. I don't have a need for a few of the professions, but all of them seem to have over-lapping files, like Core.lua; Discoveries.lua, Recipes.lua etc.

Do I leave them in their respective folders, and put the extra's somewhere specific so ARL knows they exist? Drop the folders into a sub-folder inside of ARL? Or something else.... right now I only have DBM, ARL, and AtlasLoot for mods, so it's unlikely another mod causing the ARL error that tells me:

[[Error no profession module addons were found. As of version ... blah blah blah. ]]

  • #2303

All of the folders go in Interface\AddOns right next to Ackis Recipe List itself.

  • #2304

Hmm, odd then I seem to be having an issue :\ I have the addon folders sitting next to ARL core and it doesn't notice them. I'll try deleting, and only using one addon, and verify it works with only one profession before adding more.

Edit: just deleted, and checked with a fresh download of just the cooking addon, still getting the same error. Folder named either the downloaded [AckisRecipeList_Cooking-] or [AckisRecipeList_Cooking] in the main wow/interface/addons folder, and ARL doesn't seem to recognize.

Edit 2: and now suddenly it chooses to work this time, I'm very confused and going to add some other professions one by one until either it stops working again, or I withdraw the issue.

Edit 3: Ok, last night when I posted with the files where they are now, it didn't work. Now all professions work, very confusing, but it works so I'm not going to complain. Thanks

I installed this addon like 1 year ago and deleted it now, since I don't need it anymore.

unfortunately my wow keeps crashing since I deleted it from my addons ordner. any fix for this?

  • #2300

If you come visit me, and provide information I ask for, I can figure out the cause of your crash, and help you fix it...  But ARL won't be the cause.

  • #2301

Well, I dont understand this IRC. Could we talk via PM or something?

  • #2299

AddOns are completely separate from the WoW client binary; their presence or lack thereof is of no consequence to the operation of the client.

when scanning multible professions, we've been able to just click the profession icon (upper left in the scan window) to go to the next profession.

but for a while now, when you get to mining, it won't click to the next profession.

don't know if it makes any difference, but it's called "smelting" on the wow icon, and "mining" on arl.

    and thanks, love this mod

  • #2296

I've found another bug, this time with the Cooking (I suspect it is with other professions as well). When playing as an alliance race, uncheck the 'horde' faction. The Horde recipes will still be visible, but when clicking on the little (+) will not expand it to show the vendor name. A message also comes up:

'No recipes to display. If you see this message please submit a ticket to [wowace website/arl/tickets]..."

  • #2294

The search feature doesn't seem to search for recipe list, only searches for vendor names.

    Also, some recipes are bugged.

im just wondering if there is any way that archeology can be added to the quickscan list used on the titan panel?

  • #2282

    Hi, Torhal & Team
When I ocassionally look through unlearned items in ARL, I sometimes get confused by the logic applied to Sources of unlearned recipes.
    Let me clarify:

    • If a recipe can only be obtained in a Dungeon or Raid & I uncheck Dungeon or Raid (as Source), the Recipe stays visible - confusion
    • If a recipe can only be obtained in a Dungeon or Raid, but from a specific mob., if I uncheck Dungeon or Raid, then it makes sense for it to stay until I uncheck Mob. Drop.
    • If a recipe can only be obtained outside of Instanced Content, then should it stay vsible in the list UNTIL World Drop is unchecked? If so, Confusion reigns when it doesn't.
    • If a recipe can only be obtained outside of Instanced Content AND from a specific mob., then should it stay visible if World Drop is unchecked & ONLY disappear if Mob. Drop is unchecked? If so, confusion reigns when this it doesn't.

With the above said, however, I'm not a coder & don't know what complexity can be handled, by querying & flagging, to make the above possible without adding too much demand on system resources; so, if the above scenarios are a nightmare to code for I'll bow to greater knowledge than mine & stick with what I'm given.

If required, I can look for examples of the above to clarify further.

Thanks in advance & apologies if this post is in the wrong place &/or causes any of you major headaches. :(

From my observation, there are two reasons for this:

    1. A recipe can be obtained both from a vendor and from a mob drop. For example: Flask of Distilled Wisdom is dropped by Balnazzar in Stratholme and also sold by Fedryen Swiftspear in Zangarmarsh. In this case, turning off Mob Drop will still show the recipe, because it's obtainable via another means. The best I can do in this case is, when on the Acquisition tab, have the header for that acquire type not show at all.
    2. Raid, Instance, and PVP are additional flags - they aren't in themselves ways of acquiring a recipe. Setting a recipe as Mob Drop and also Instance, for example, would allow you to filter out all non-instance mob drops. That also means the inverse is not true. I admit, this is rather confusing and is something that existed before my tenure. I'll try to come up with ways to make these fit better, or even replace or remove them.

It wouldn't make it use any more resources, really. It's just a matter of coming up with a way to do this that doesn't exhibit the confusion of the current methodology.
