Profession AddOns

Due to the increasing data size and memory usage with each WoW expansion, the professions have been split into their own AddOns; you need only download the ones you'll be using. Each installed and enabled profession AddOn will load whenever it's first accessed by the ARL core.

You can either download the Ackis Recipe List Addon Pack which has Ackis Recipe List's core and all profession AddOns, or install the profession AddOns separately:

Note that Ackis Recipe List will not work without the AddOn for the profession you are trying to scan. If you attempt to scan a profession that is not installed, you will be informed.

Known Issues

  • When gaining a reputation level recipes for that faction will still appear in red when doing a scan.
  • Recipe acquire information is slightly inaccurate. We are updating recipes daily as information is identified. If you find something inaccurate or wrong, submit a ticket here and we will get it updated.

Feature Requests/Bug Reporting

Read the Bug Reporting and Feature Requesting information before submitted a bug report or feature request. Posting reports in the comments is not the place to do so. Ackis had to turn off the comments at Curse.com because of constant bug reports and feature requests. Comments are for questions on how to use the mod, or you can see the thread on WoW Ace. Please follow these small little instructions to make our lives easier. The easier you make development for Ackis Recipe List, the more time we will have to develop other addons.

Bug Reports

Please use the WoW Ace tracker to file bug reports. Posting bugs in the comments is not the place to do it.

Feature Request

Please use the WoW Ace tracker to add suggestions and feature requests. Not all suggestions will be accepted: there are many people who use this addon, each with separate views. We will, however, try to make it as user friendly as possible...but when a decision is made please accept it.

Integration

Ackis Recipe List strives to integrate with existing trade skill mods out there. If you have a request for integration, please submit a feature request at WoW Ace. We make no promises to implement the feature at all. There is a limited API documented to interface with the ARL database. If you are a developer and would like more functions, please contact us on IRC. Currently, the mod works with:

If your mod should be on this list, please submit a ticket.

--------------------

James D. Callahan III:
    - Profession modules are now responsible for allocating entity item_list and recipe acquire_data tables.
    - Added a helper function to get rid of duplicate location-handling code.
    - Some variable name changes for clarification.
    - Updated call to AddRecipe to use the new method.
    - Refactored AcquireType:AddEntity() to take a module and an entity as parameters: It is now the caller's responsibility to generate the entity.
    - Re-added a mining/smelting check with a comment on why it's needed.
    - Reworked addon:AddRecipe() to use module and recipe tables passed in from the profession module AddOns.
    - Added GAME_VERSION_NAMES to constants table for module access.
    - professionModule.version => professionModule.Version
    - Added module version checking. Modules with a non-matching version will be inoperable.
    - Updated MODULE_ERROR_FORMAT to clarify that the error is a missing or disabled profession module.
    - Removed comments which explained what TRADE_SKILL_SHOW and TRADE_SKILL_CLOSE accomplish...
    - Another MINING_PROFESSION_NAME/PROFESSION_MODULE_NAMES change.
    - Remove check for MINING_PROFESSION_NAME since PROFESSION_MODULE_NAMES handles it implicitly.
    - Map MINING_PROFESSION_NAME to "Smelting" in PROFESSION_MODULE_NAMES.
Ressy:
    - Add Murg Stonecrack

There were 2 full releases yesterday (I goofed the first, sorry!) to address several of the issues users have been raising:

    • Filters were incorrectly set for some items
    • Where some items don't appear, despite filters being set correctly.

These issues and a few others were mostly caused due to a partial rewrite of the filters system - which wasn't finalized til the latest release.  This was done to attempt to streamline some of our datamining processes; the previous input process for the database had me adding everything manually into it due to some limitations of the WoW game engine resulting in me disconnecting from the game when trying to do a profession dump. This constant manual input of course resulted in some mistakes on my part (which many of you have noticed, THANK YOU for the tickets!), for which I apologize for.

Torhal has since implemented a work-around which was incorporated into 2.4.9 (now on 2.5.0), which does not result in my disconnection, and has allowed me to datamine in-game without having to manually update everything.

So why do you care?  It means things are easier on updating for me, meaning it should result in faster updates, with fewer mistakes (I'll still need to manually add some, but not as many as previous!).  Hopefully I'll keep mistakes to a minimum.  If you do find a mistake, please create a ticket, and it'll be dealt with usually within a few days with an alpha build.

Thanks for putting up with the rockiness the last few months all, and thanks for using Ackis Recipe List!

i since last update this addon stopped working for me. i didnt touch any settings or do anything at all. it simply not working for me. when i click on the scan button nothing happens. plz any solution to this? for i so like this addon it did help me a lot in find  recipes i am missing.

  • #1931

I'm a bit confused, my addon says I only have 1 origami recipe left to get to have all the recipes for Inscription. Yet, when I do research more glyph recipes appear. I've not tampered with any of the settings, am i doing something wrong or does this addon need updating?

  • #1941

There is a filter for discoverable recipes.  Are you by chance looking at the location tab?

  • #1942

The problem was solved by doing research for 2 more days after your addon said I had them all. I'm guessing it has been solved with your latest update. I generally find the addon very useful and have no problems, so I'm guessing this was just a small glitch. Thanks for spending the time on it for all us wow folk.

  • #1934

@Adm111: Can you be more specific on the origami recipes? Because there is the Origami rock and slimes which are found as drops in Deepholm and Vash'jir respectively. If you're referring to the ones from MoP, then it's a random chance to discover when you do the research. You'll just have to get lucky. Best bet, learn all the glyphs you can from research. Might as well because in patch 5.4 there will be new ones and I'm betting I'll either have to buy them from the trainer or learn them via research (oh bother!) Get researching! ^-^

    @amaki80

I will get that last origami recipe one day, but I have no reason to visit Vash and it isn't on my priority list. While the sun is out I intend to enjoy that instead. Happy researching :)

It needs serious updating since the most recent patch.  For me it shows leatherworking patterns I've already learned and levelled past, plus I have world drop/events and pvp, raid both unchecked in filters yet it still shows those recipes/patterns.  Even with that being said, it's still the best prof addon around.

  • #1945

Well I had submitted a ticket but it was removed.  "Declined - We decided not to take action on this ticket."

  • #1944

    Okay, ticket has been created.

  • #1940

All recipes should be up to date.

Would you mind submitting a bug report here:

    http://www.wowace.com/addons/arl/tickets/

If possible, add some screenshots of the weird data.

  • #1930

When will they finish the translation of the addon in Portuguese??
I like it a lot and it's making me really miss... =/

  • #1936

Localizations are pretty much left up to the fans of the addon.  I don't speak anything other than english fluently.

For some reason, it doesn't work if you have the Archy addon. It doesn't crash, but if you click "scan" nothing happens. If Archy isn't active, ARL works normaly.

  • #1939

I'm running both Archy and ARL.

    Are your lua errors enabled?
