What it does

Ackis Recipe List is an addon which will scan your trade skills and provide information on how to obtain recipes. It works for all tradeskills including Runeforging.

How to get it to work

You open up a trade skill window (ie: enchanting) and click on the Scan button which is attached to the trade skill window. Results will be printed out to the chat frame, or into a separate window depending on preference.

Command Line

Ackis Recipe List has recently changed to use a GUI for change parameters. Type /arl to open up the GUI. Acceptable commands include:

  • Opens up the about panel, listing information about the mod: 
    /arl about
    • Opens up the sorting options: 
      /arl sort
      or 
      /arl sorting
    • Scan a profession: 
      /arl scan profession
    • Opens up in-game documentation regarding ARL: 
      /arl documentation
    • Opens up display options: 
      /arl display
    • Opens up profile options: 
      /arl profile
    • Prints out a list of all the profession tradeskill links: 
      /arl tradelinks

Clicking

Ackis Recipe List will behave differently depending on which modifying keys you use to click.

Scan Button

This is the functionality that occurs when you are clicking the scan button.

  • Normal Click
    • Performs a scan of the current tradeskill displaying recipes in a new window.
  • Shift Click
    • Generates a text dumping of the current tradeskill in a format (CSV, XML, BBC) specified by the user.
  • Alt Click
    • Removes all waypoints on the World Map and Mini-map generated by ARL.
  • Ctrl Click
    • Provides development code for use when updating trainers, vendors, etc in the recipe database.

Recipe

This is the functionality that occurs when you click on a recipe.

  • Normal Click
    • Expands or contracts the recipe acquire information.
  • Shift Click
    • Generates an item link of the item that the recipe will make into your default chat box.
  • Ctrl Click
    • Generates a spell link for the recipe you clicked.
  • Alt Click
    • Adds or removes a recipe from the exclusion list.
  • Ctrl-Shift Click
    • Adds the specific recipe acquire methods to the World Map and Mini-map.

Known Issues

  • When gaining a reputation level recipes for that faction will still appear in red when doing a scan.
  • Recipe acquire information is slightly inaccurate. We are updating recipes daily as information is identified. If you find something inaccurate or wrong, submit a ticket here and we will get it updated.

Feature Requests/Bug Reporting

Read the Bug Reporting and Feature Requesting information before submitted a bug report or feature request. Posting reports in the comments is not the place to do so. Ackis had to turn off the comments at Curse.com because of constant bug reports and feature requests. Comments are for questions on how to use the mod, or you can see the thread on WoW Ace. Please follow these small little instructions to make our lives easier. The easier you make development for Ackis Recipe List, the more time we will have to develop other addons.

Please use the WoW Ace tracker to file bug reports. Posting bugs in the comments is not the place to do it.

Feature Request

Please use the WoW Ace tracker to add suggestions and feature requests. Not all suggestions will be accepted: there are many people who use this addon, each with separate views. We will, however, try to make it as user friendly as possible...but when a decision is made please accept it.

Integration

Ackis Recipe List strives to integrate with existing trade skill mods out there. If you have a request for integration, please submit a feature request at WoW Ace. We make no promises to implement the feature at all. There is a limited API documented to interface with the ARL database. If you are a developer and would like more functions, please contact us on IRC. Currently, the mod works with:

    Make a ticket for adding recipe info back into the tooltip, if there's enough votes for it I'll readd it.

    Hi ... love this add on few things tho on this release

    can you move the scan button or make it a little smaller? On some proffs and with smaller UI scales it ends up covering the new Proff linking button that blizz put in (I see there is a new build today so if you have already fixed that, thanks and nevermind


    Also I get an error whenever I try to link a pattern into chat, and I don;t know if it was changed or removed or blocked by blizzard but I also am not getting tooltips for the pattern on hover, Like you used to when hovering on the + next to the recipe, I miss that.

    I got a message about some enchanting recipe missing as well, but don´t know which one it was. Will update when i get home.
    Also you are missing at least 2 cooking recipes, will try to find those too.

    I assume you are referring to the achievements interface listing 2 more recipes than ackis...it seems to be counting the expert and master cookbooks you use to master the skill. @Ackis: I double checked your list just now, you appear to have every cooking recipe. Great mod.

    Hello Ackis, i really love this addon and am lost without it. i was trying to use skillet with this addon, is that ok firstoff?

    Also my profession is inscription and im having a hard time gettin your addon to work, here is the error i got this morning after installing beta 7 (which still says beta6 ingame)

    interface\addons\ackisrecipelist\arlframe.lua:322:attempt to concatenate local 'recstr' (a nil value)

    the first time i got the error i was using skillet so i uninstalled it and just used yours and still got the same thing with the actual window showing up with no recipes and a weird word with all the + marks beside them. plus in chat it pretty much listed all of the recipes for inscription that the addon did not know and said to tell you.

    so i guess im hoping i can use this for inscription, hopefully you can get it fixed.

    thank you for your hard work, love this addon and will be lost without it:)

    Hi Ackis and thanks for a wonderful addon. I'm a miner however, and it tells me that I know all recipes for this trade skill when I do a scan.

    However, while I once did know 'Smelt Elementium' before switching tradeskills I certainly don't know it now. Yet it doesn't show as a lacking skill.

    I'm aware that this recipe was somewhat weird as it could even be taught to non-miners.

    A text file would be nice for new users. It is advertised as working with most other proff adons but I seem to have a problem with ATSW. I don't even see the scan button. And again, with no text file I have no idea what the / commands are.

    Ackis...Thanks, as always, for keeping this fantastic addon going! Couple of things with the latest Beta release. (1.0B7)...I just d/l the newest Beta (7), however, it is still identified as Beta 6 in the Addon options menu on log-in menu, as well as the "About" section in ARL's menu. Also, while I was able to scan my professions by using slash commands to open ARL's menu, the actual "scan" button on Tradeskill window was not operating at all, both before and after I scanned my recipes. (Also, some of my 1st Aid recipe lvl. requirements are still incorrect, but you had mentioned it was an issue with WoWDB, so I realize there's not a whole lot you can do about that) Thanks again very much for all your effort and hard work. It certainly shows in the quality of this mod.

    Disregard the scan button issue....I use ARL w/ Skillet, and it was that addon causing the issue, not ARL. After rebooting WoW, the scan button worked fine, though it was still showing up as Beta version 6, if that makes any difference. Thanks again.
