About AssistMe
AssistMe is a very small, fast, lightweight AddOn to auto promote specific persons to assistant when you are the Raid Leader of your raid. AssistMe now also promotes persons on Calendar events as well. 2.3 implemented a Spam Catcher which should stop the majority of those nasty event spams; one or two might get through, but its fairly efficient. Couple more New commands added with new features - Ready Check, Disband Raid, Demote All Assistants. Read below for more info!
Latest Updates:
3.2 <- Just bumped interface version - If you are getting bugs let me know. I am planning a complete re-write in near future.
3.1.1 <- More error purging. My apologies!
3.1 <- Semi-re-write the addon again. Made it easier to localize in future, and implemented my own framework. Shorted all the 'calendar' commands to 'cal'. Also shortened 'invitewhisper' to 'invwhisper'. See below for command updates. Colour Scheme in game slightly updated.
Adding new names or removing couldn't be easier :)
List of current /commands
/assistme - will display the addons instructions - providing commands for adding, removing and showing players on your Assist List.
Command Prefixes: /assistme or /am
/assistmeadd or /amadd - followed by a name will add that name to your List. (/amadd Someone)
/assistmeaddrank or /amaddrank - followed by a rank name from your guild will add all names from that guild rank to your List. (/amaddrank Guild Master)
/assistmeremove or /amremove - followed by a name will remove that name from your List. (/amremove Someone)
/assistmeremoverank or /amremoverank - followed by a rank name from your guild will remove all names from that guild rank from your List. (/amremoverank Guild Master)
/assistmeprint or /amprint - will print out a list of names on your List.
/assistmecal or /amcal - will turn the Calendar Promoting System on or off. This is Enabled by Default.
/assistmewhisper or /amwhisper - will turn the option for Whispering the Promotee on or off ("AssistMe: You've been promoted to Assistant by <You>!"). This is Enabled by Default.
/assistmeswitch or /amswitch - will switch the current in use Assist List between two seperate lists. Account List and a Player List. The Default list is the Account List.
/assistmecallist or /amcallist - will Enable/Disable a seperate list which will be used by the Calendar Promoting system. When Enabled, there is also an Account Calendar List and a Player Calendar List (the List in use is Determined by the switch command), when Disabled, the normal Account/Player List is used. Calendar List is Disabled by Default.
/assistmecaladd or /amcaladd - followed by a name will add that name to your Calendar List. (/amcaladd Someone)
/assistmecaladdrank or /amcaladdrank - followed by a rank name from your guild will add all names from that guild rank to your Calendar List. (/amcaladdrank Guild Master)
/assistmecalremove or /amcalremove - followed by a name will remove that name from your List. (/amcalremove Someone)
/assistmecalremoverank or /amcalremoverank - followed by a rank name from your guild will remove all names from that guild rank from your Calendar List. (/amcalremoverank Guild Master)
/assistmecalprint or /amcalprint - will print out a list of names on your Calendar List.
/assistmeinvwhisper or /aminvwhisper - followed by a message will auto invite players who whisper you the message. Typing the command with no following message will disable this feature. (/aminvwhisper raid; to disable /aminvwhisper)
/assistmedemote or /amdemote - will demote all current assistants, then your Assist List will kick in and promote your friends/guidies.
/assistmedisband or /amdisband - will quickly disband your raid for you. This command also allows you to disband with a message of your choice check the example for more. (/amdisband BYE RAID!)
/assistmerd or /amrd - followed by a difficulty ('10', '25', '10hc', '25hc') will set the Raid Difficulty respectively if your raid leader. If you are an Assistant this will send a Raid Difficulty request to the Raid Leader changing the difficulty on your behalf. Raid Leader Requires AssistMe for this to work
/assistmerc or /amrc - will initiate a ready check. As Blizzard have fixed the bug this command shall remain as a short-hand for those, like me, who can't be assed typing /readycheck.
/assistmeenabled or /amenabled - will enable/disable all promoting. (AssistMe's in-game on/off switch)
Reason for creation
Myself and friends play lot of WoW and we're also officers in our guild (Lingering) and we find it a pain to manually promote others every time we create a raid. Although there is a few larger addons that come with this feature I couldn't really find a nice small and simple version that was easy to use so I decided to create one.
Reporting
I completely re-wrote the addon (again) for version 3.n. Its now a lot more object orientated (better programmed). In all cases it was more or less copied and pasted into the new layout, but as always may be a few new errors but I did manage to get it cleaned up a bit. If you catch a error leave a comment behind!
Suggestions
Please also feel free to leave behind suggestions and ideas that you think should be incorporated into/removed from this addon and I shall consider any that seem appropriate.

I do have plans to revisit and kit up this addon soon but I'm currently busy with Uni, etc. I'll do my best to get a revision up before cata.
Glad to hear people are still using this apart from my guild :)

Framework fail! ty, its fixed in 3.1.1
Let me know of any other hixtastic failures!
One idea, not sure how it would be best implemented... often, we create a raid and then try to decide who to put on the waitlist and who should be Tank vs. Heals or Tank vs. DPS, ect. for that night. This goes on before we go in the instance and during that time we may decide one of our normal tanks should go dps so I dont want to put every tank on the auto-assist list. Maybe you could have a delayed auto-asisst list (separate from the primary auto-assist list) that, upon entering a raid instance, would detect if the ppl on this secondary list are tanks and only auto-promote them if they are. Perhaps the mod could detect if they are tanks by things like frost aura for DKs, bear form for Druids, defensive stance for Warriors, and righteous fury for Paladins.
Not sure how this would be implemented w/o creating a lot of unncessary bloat and make the mod too cumbersome to be useful. The last thing anyone wants I think is to have a mod so big and so out of its original scope that it eats away at your addon memory. Just thought I'd throw the idea out there and see if it was an easy thing to add or not and if it would actually be practical.
Again ty for your interest and your idea, I will take a look but I couldn't promise anything soon.
As for seperate lists that should be easy enough. Thanks again - keep an eye out for an update soon!
Also, I noticed that if I accidentally put in the same name more than once, the name is listed more than once in the list, and I have to remove it twice if I want to remove it. Can we have some sort of check that sees if the name you're trying to add already exists, and if so, not add it again? I had names with capitalization and without because I didn't know that you could do it both ways.
Thanks for this simple and helpful mod.
