About Auctioneer

Auctioneer Suite

Auctioneer Suite provides you with the tools and data necessary to make those difficult auctioning decisions with ease.

From purchasing to posting, the Auctioneer Suite provides time-tested tools to allow you more time to actually play your characters or play the market. As you will soon discover, it is much more than a simple "Auctioning AddOn", the Auctioneer Suite also shows in-depth information for all game items, such as those used in quests or recipes, enchanting, milling, prospecting and more.

Numerous other AddOns will also use the Auctioneer statistics you gather via scanning. This is especially true for many of the popular crafting AddOns, such as Little Sparky's Workshop, GnomeWorks, and Skillet.

Looking for Ultra Lightweight and Fast?

Try the "Auctioneer" download from our primary site, rather than the "Auctioneer Suite" we upload to Curse and WoWInterface. All of our downloads are accessible from our primary site at http://AuctioneerAddOn.Com/dl . This version offers a small footprint, with only the basic "Post" frame and tooltip information to assist in your purchasing decisions.

When updating, this time...

Be sure to remove all old files- follow the instructions at http://wiki.norganna.org/Installing .

Please, do not post errors here; instead, kindly visit http://forums.norganna.org/ , our Support Forum, and be sure to search before posting- many questions and errors reported are duplicates.

For the fastest service, various questions are addressed in the Auctioneer FAQ, http://wiki.norganna.org/Auctioneer/FAQ . We have gone to great lengths to ensure that the most common issues have been addressed

Basic Auctioneer Suite Details

The Auctioneer Suite contains Auctioneer, all of its modules, BeanCounter, Enchantrix and Enchantrix Barker, and Informant to help provide a comprehensive view of item data, whether at the Auction House or out questing. Some highlights are:

Appraiser

An intuitive auction posting frame.

  • Remembers your preferences for bid/buyout prices, stack sizes, and number of listings to post per item.
  • Allows queuing of auctions, so you can instruct it to list hundreds of auctions at a time. Note that Blizzard introduced a hardware event requirement to confirm each posting, but, with Appraiser's Batch Posting, you reduce the total clicks from two per auction, to one.
  • Allows you to specify the value price of your choice and remembers your selection
  • Displays competing listings, the age of the data, and allows you to sort these listings and refresh them easily.
  • Provides a scrollable list of all auctionable items in your bags; allowing you to quickly post all of your goods.
  • Provides a "Match Competition" setting which will automatically undercut your competition when posting auctions, within your parameters
  • Provides the ability to change to a "Simple" view; a bit like the Auctioneer Classic posting interface.
  • Allows you to change column width by Right-Clicking and dragging to the column width of your choice.
  • Allows you to post multiple auctions with the single click of the Batch Post button.
    • Alt+Left-Click == Refresh Pricing of all Batch Postable Items.
    • Shift+Left-Click == Trial or List Posting. Does not actually queue any items to post but prints the exact pricing that will be used on the Auction House in an easily readable format in the "chat window". This allows a user to verify their settings and make adjustments if necessary.
    • Ctrl+Shft+Alt+Left-Click == Queue all items that have the "Allow Batch Posting" checkbox selected (located at the top of the item information pane).

CompactUI

An alternative to the standard auction browsing interface.

  • Displays more auctions per page
  • Displays more data per auction
  • Allows you to change column width by Right-Clicking in the column heading and dragging left or right to resize the column to your liking
  • Provides a percentage comparison with the Market Value Statistic of your choice
  • Allows auctions to be color coded by price level
  • Allows multiple sorting options not available on the standard interface

Statistic Modules

There are a variety of fully customizable statistic modules included with Auctioneer that can provide a variety of pricing information- all based upon your needs.

  • "Market" - a custom designed formula that merges the various statistics into a usable price. This is the default setting and is highly recommended.
  • Auc-Stat-Histogram - Returns Median and IQR values, based upon a Histogram of pricing data. Essentially, a median value, based upon all prices ever seen; no data is ever discarded.
  • Auc-Stat-iLevel - Statistics modules that groups all items of same rarity, type, and iLevel together (e.g. all green weapons of iLevel 180). Useful for pricing random "of the ..." items.
  • Auc-Stat-Purchased - Statistics module that tries to infer purchase prices based on items disappearing before they could have expired. (Requires more frequent scanning of the AH)
  • Auc-Stat-Sales – Uses data from BeanCounter to display historical statistics on actual purchase and sale prices. Note that this statistic is installed along with BeanCounter, and cannot be installed separately.
  • Auc-Stat-Simple - Statistics module that performs simple averaging of data, converted daily to exponential moving averages of the orders 3, 7 and 14.
  • Auc-Stat-StdDev - Statistics module that keeps the last 100 price points for an item and performs a standard deviation on the data list to exclude outliers from the sample space and provide a normalized mean.
  • Auc-Stat-WOWEcon - Statistics module that uses the WOWEcon AddOn's data (if separately installed) to provide the price to other Auctioneer modules.
  • Any other stat module that you or others wish to create can be easily added to auctioneer functionality!

SearchUI

An Auctioneer Utility that prompts you when it sees auctions that fit your criteria for buying and, or, bidding.

  • Uses Searchers that you can customize for various desired deals such as:
    • Resale - Prompts you for deals based on discount from the market value, AH fee, and expected relistings
    • Disenchant - Prompts you for deals based on disenchanting armor and weapons
    • Prospecting - Prompts you for jewelcrafting deals from prospecting ores
    • Vendor - Prompts you for auctions listed below vendor sell price
  • The "RealTimeSearch" will continually reload the first and last page of the AH, within reason, as per your configuration, to find the newest bargains and auctions that are just about to come to an end. Both great times to find some amazing deals.
  • Piggybacks on your AH scans if allowed to do so

BeanCounter

An associated addon that tracks your bid, postings, and mail to help you determine your overall and item-specific profitability.

  • Creates journal entries when you bid, buy, post, or retrieve AH mail.
  • Provides a searchable interface that can display all activity or only certain items
  • Allows you to change column width by Left-Click and dragging the column to the size of your liking

Enchantrix

Enchantrix displays values for disenchanting, milling, and prospecting; plus suggested values for selling enchants. Enchantrix can also automate disenchanting, milling and prospecting. Some baseline pricing is built in, but Enchantrix also uses values from Auctioneer to provide up-to-date prices for your server/faction. Enchantrix also includes controls to let you customize the pricing by enchant material (fixed prices and weighting).

Informant

Informant displays additional information about items in their tooltips: buy price; sell price; item level; what quests, classes or professions use the item; the value of the item produced by a recipe; etc. Informant can also tell you what vendors sell a given item.

What Can Auctioneer Do to Help Me?

Once a user moves to the Auction House (AH) and beyond just buying and selling from/to vendors, the whole game changes. No longer is the user dealing with the static prices of the vendor to support their character's income. We are now dealing with the fluid and hectic nature of a dog-eat-dog market economy.

In such an economy, which is in a constant state of flux, it can be difficult to select the correct pricing points for your item at the AH. Sometimes, the prices and value of your items can be wildly different compared to the vendor price due to many factors, the value of items that can be made from your item, the use of a particular item in a quest, the suitability of a particular weapon or armor to specific classes, and the disenchantability of an item to enchanters.

Primarily, the driving factor of the price fluctuations, as in the real world is supply versus demand. When supply is high, but demand is low, competition drives the prices down, and conversely then supply is low, but demand is high, the market is driven into a sellers market.

The Auctioneer Suite can help you alleviate this lack of market knowledge over time by watching the market evolve.

When you go to the Auction House (AH) for the first time after installing Auctioneer, you will see a row of 3 buttons along the top of the main "Browse" frame, click the "play" button to begin your first scan of the entire AH. Auctioneer will begin recording statistics for every item it finds, including the bid, buyout, and more.

Once the market analysis has completed, you will notice additional information about the items in the tooltips when you mouse over them.

What happens when you go to sell items via the Auction House?

If auctioneer has enough data, when you try to put an auction up for sale, it will attempt to provide you with intelligent pricing points based upon the market data it has accumulated through scanning.

When you select an item in the full or simple "Appraiser" frame, Auctioneer will suggest a minimum price, a buyout price and display relevant data about it's decision making process in the right, receipt window, including how it has arrived at its prices.

When you place an item in the SimpleAuction, "Post" frame, Auctioneer will suggest a minimum bid, a buyout price, and display relevant data, including the deposit and more.

What are the available pricing models, or statistics, again?

There are numerous pricing models from which to choose, they are discussed in the FAQ, located at http://Wiki.Norganna.Org/Auctioneer/FAQ .

Conclusion

We hope this helps people to understand the Auctioneer Suite a bit better. Visit our main site for indepth information and help - http://AuctioneerAddOn.Com .

Happy Auctioneering!!

Nikk and the rest of the Team at Norganna's AddOns

Bugfix changes from previous 5.21 Release:

* Fixes Informant error at vendors
* Usable items and exact match filters now (mostly) works as expected on CompactUI
* Fixes some BeanCounter issues, especially with mail (English only, until we get new localization translations)
* Prices now accept 5 digits
* Sidebar matcher details now showing again

* Some attempts to fix the disconnection issues some users see when using a Fast Scan
** New Scanner setting - "Throttle Scanning stage during fast scans" - try this and see if it helps.
** When you enable this setting, you should probably change a few other settings first:
** Set FPS back to around 25 (Throttle effectively quadruples the FPS setting)
** Set Time-to-Live to 5 or less
** Set Unresolved Auctions Tolerance up to 10 or more
** (Slowing down Scanning too much can result in unresolvable auctions - these two settings mitigate that a bit, at the expense of permitting a tiny number of 'errors' to be ignored)
** As usual, if you're having issues, try using a less populated AH, or scanning at off-hours, and see if that helps with your issue.

    Sdfghcdf,

Easy bid and Easy buy are both configurable in the Auctioneer Advanced settings- with the past 2 versions they have both been set to off.

If you do not wish to use one, or the other, or both, then simply disable them.

They are in the Utility section.

    Thank you,

    Nikk

i hate this its rly anoying because if u double click it autobids and i have wasted over 100g on this stupid thing because of the auto bidder -.-

    NeverLift,

The default options is one area that is receiving more attention as we move into the Beta testing phase- the current Alpha set is decent, but not refined. One nice thing is that Advanced uses the graphical user interface so that setting the options is much easier than nearly 100 "slash commands".

As related in the post to Nyan, the scanning bar and such is simply Auctioneer Advanced displaying a visual representation of what is going on in the background- Auctioneer Classic does much the same but there is no notice to the user. That was one of the big requests from our users, to ensure that there was more feedback so folks understood what is/was happening rather than just looking at a "frozen" screen.

If you do not want the output in the chat pane- you can either set that to Off or re-route the output to another window. Both options are delineated in the FAQ, available at The AuctioneerAdvanced FAQ.

Appreciate the feedback, please consider taking some time and commenting about what things you would like to/not like to see as we move forward over in the main forums feedback thread.

    Thank you,

    Nikk

There's alot options to check and turn off imho.

Just take your time and go through and turn off all the unneeded or unwanted stuff.

I just wish I could make it stop scanning the damn auction house when I'm just looking at stuff, seeing the AucAdv: Processing every time I try to look at stuff it does it nonstop.
It's so bad its causing my game to pause or stutter so I can even browse the auctionhouse smoothly and go from section to section without seeing the scanning bar with it saying AucAdv: Processing.

Is there away to turn this off?

PS: I at least got rid of the long pause the AucAdv: Processing scanning bar would have when it got half way done.
I set the search process priority to 250.

  • #1440

    thx for the info Nechckn.
I'll try to study the setting and learn the function now. =P

  • #1438

    Nyan,

You can easily use the Full Suite listed here, simply disable the "Auc-Advanced" entry and that will leave out any trace of Advanced. On our main site, we offer many different packs- but we only post the "Full Suite" on these second-party sites.

Do note that Classic will soon be nearing the end of its usefulness, as stated in my previous replies here and numerous entries on our primary site, http://AuctioneerAddOn.com , and elsewhere.

Much of what you are seeing with delays is because of having to update 2 sets of complete statistics, which using the Full Suite does, in essence. The bar you see from Advanced is simply showing what is going on in the background- Classic does much the same but just has no progress indicator.

    Best of luck,

    Nikk

The small font can be turned off by the compact ui check box setting I think.

  • #1436

the font is so small here, it hurt my eye everytime I go to Auction House!
so many options to go through and most of them I don't use.
To NeVeRiFt: I too really hate the AucAdv processing at the back, just pause my game and take too long to load...

So, I'm going to http://www.auctioneeraddon.com and found out they just updated the classic pack, great news! I'm going to download it now.

  • #1441

I'm not sure if its my pc, I would think not thou.
    spec's A64 2ghz, 2gigs ram and a 9800gtx videocard with an audigy 2 zs soundcard with fairly nice hdd's.

The only mod I have ever used that effected my games performance was Questhelper, its so bad off right now thou that I cant use it.

    Thanks for this great mod.

Anyone using a C2D or faster cpu like one the quad core types from AMD or intel, and have any of this happen that I posted about?

If this is the small price I have to pay for accurate prices then so be it. ;)

  • #1444

    NeverLift,

Really not sure what exactly you are seeing- only explaining the specific package that we have posted here at Curse. Every time you perform a search there is processing performed- when you scan the AH, that is quite the intense effort and many people find that there machines go down to 1-3FPS during the scan and processing, then the machines pop back to normal afterward. That is because there are large amounts of data being requested, received, and, most importantly, processed upon receipt. All statistics that the user has selected are computed then, at least one function per item, per statistic - some requiring more. What results is a delay that varies based upon your server's load, the server's response, your Internet connection, your settings, and your specific machine.

If you only want to use Advanced, great, simply disable the "Auctioneer" entry in the main Addons Manager. That keeps AuctioneerClassic from loading, the reverse is also true with disabling the "Auc-Advanced" entry, that disables Auctioneer Advanced and keeps it from being loaded into memory.

Then you can see if there is a difference between updating the two sets or not- that is *if* you have not already disabled one version or another.

There really seems to be something that we are missing here, please feel free to join us on IRC for live help, simply click on the Chat link from our main site, http://AuctioneerAddOn.Com . Note that the number of people logged in to help varies throughout the day- your best bet is roughly 8am-11pm US EST, that is GMT -5. Simply connect, state your issue, and then wait for a reply- sometimes that can be an hour or so- more often, than not, the reply is immediate.

    Thank you,

    Nikk

    Nechckn posted saying this....
Much of what you are seeing with delays is because of having to update 2 sets of complete statistics, which using the Full Suite does, in essence. The bar you see from Advanced is simply showing what is going on in the background- Classic does much the same but just has no progress indicator.

So the version here on curse is the cause of this?
I mean its so bad for me its like im compressing or uncompressing a rar file while looking at the auctionhouse.

Please post back if this is right, cause I just want the advanced new version of auctioneer and would love for it to be smooth again.

  • #1450

    NeverLift,

Now, just to be sure, you are talking about the pause that occurs after the processing bar appears and just before the scan summary is shown... right?

We do have some requests to disable the database update when searching via the Browse Frame / CompactUI but that will most likely not be done until after Auctioneer reaches "release" after WotLK.

Disabling AuctioneerClassic should have helped and we are looking into ways to further the speed benefits- look for more in the next few weeks.

I'm on feathermoon which is a crowded server I guess, I have a 10Mbit internet connection.

I'm gonna guess its because its running both versions that I'm seeing what I'm seeing.
(classic and advanced) and its updating both when I browse or do a search.

I will try disabling "Auctioneer" and see how this goes.
I would bet this fixes the problem I'm seeing thou... because the way the scanning bar AucAdv: Processing is doing. Sometimes right after a scan or just me browsing it will appear and then reappear.

Almost like its doing it for the advanced and then again for the clasic?

  • #1448

    Epileptick,

For which version, and on which screen are you looking when making these decisions? Do you mean the percentages shown on the main, Browse screen with CompactUI, via BottomScanner, or SearchUI?

    Thank you,

    Nikk

Edit: Will guess that you are talking about the Browse Window and CompactUI- if not AAdv/Full, let me know.
To change the basis of the coloring and the percentages- look in the options, within the "Utility" subsection- the setting is "PriceLevel". There you can set whether to base the Pct column and coloring on Bid and Buyout, next Bid, or Buyout.
Personally, have that set to "Market Value" and "Bid and Buyout" for most of my characters/servers, since one or the other could be a really good deal- but you can change them as you like. Also note that you can change the banding for the coloring there, so you can zero in on awesome bargains really fast, based on the color.
Note: To open the options click the "Configure" button at the top of the Appraiser Frame or click the "Coin Stack" icon on the Slide Bar menu.

  • #1447

Thank you Nech for replying to my last question, it was very informative and helped me alot!

    I have another question:

How do I make the percentages (when I am buying things primarily), only take into account buyouts - NOT bids.

I noticed that sometimes when I buy things I'm buying because it shows as like 50% under market price but It's actually only that low because their bid price is extremely low and the buyout is still high.....

I only buy things on buyout usually so I would like the percentage to only take buyout price into account.

    Thanks,

    - Epi
