About Aura Frames

Aura Frames allows you to display any kind of buff or debuff on any given unit with highly customizable filtering, ordering, coloring and animation functionality.

The "engine" behind the screens is the LibAura that is specific written for AuraFrames that provide aura information over all the units and even more. It also include information over internal cooldowns, spell cooldowns, totems, weapon enchantments, testing units and more.

The filtering, ordering and coloring is unique. No addon has ever approach Aura Frames with the way the internal system is working. The most important difference is that Aura Frames is not checking realtime aura's on all properties but is generating real lau code blocks based on filtering, ordering and coloring that are parsed by WoW/Lua and are executed as native lua functions (for non nerds: its fast)!

It supports currently 3 ways of displaying aura's. Button, bar or timeline style.

Supporting the following sources:

  • Buffs and Debuffs on any unit (your self, target, pet etc)
  • Weapon enchantments
  • Spell cooldowns
  • Spell cooldowns of your pet
  • Item cooldowns
  • All internal item cooldowns (with a self learing functionality to detect the cooldown times)
  • Mouse over
  • Test unit
  • Totems
  • Boss Mods (DXE and DBM are currently supported)

Feature highlights:

  • Support for multiple ways of displaying aura's
  • Unlimited amount of containers to order and display aura's
  • Advanced filtering configuration
  • Advanced ordering configuration
  • Duration can be displayed in multiple ways
  • Customizable animation system that can be triggered by multiple events
  • Shared Madia support for bar textures and fonts
  • Masque (ButtonFacade) support for button and bar
  • Support for cancel buffs in combat

Console commands:

  • /af - Open the Aura Frames configuration (also available from the interface menu)
  • /affixdb - Tries to fix your Aura Frames database, use this before /afreset if you have problems (the addon need a /reloadui after this command)
  • /afreset - Will reset your whole database. Use this only if you have big problems

TIP: Shift right click an aura to dump the properties to the chat window. This will help you to create filters. (This only works when an container can be clicked).

Dispell buffs are a bit tricky, no support for it yet. But its on my todo list for 2.x
  • #164
Is there a way to filter spells cast by my pet? Or by unitid in general, so I could specify (unit=="pet" or unit=="player")
  • #182
Will implement this in 2.x that you can filter by unit directly also.
  • #169
    Would also love this feature.

Then if I change buffs (ie shaman weapon buffs) the icons won't change. I have to do a ui reload for behavior to go back to normal.

This is already fixed in the last alpha build. Please try r319.

Great addon. Is it possible to add a filter for 'Cast by NPC'?
I have a small buff bar above above my player frame with a white listed group and a group with cast by player/party/raid/bg rules set to false. Basically I'd like to view select buffs (white list) and any buff not cast by a player/pet (EX: Essence of the Red during Sinestra). However, certain buffs (EX: hunter pets) slip through the filter. It would be much easier to have a 'Cast by NPC' option set to false/true.
  • #158
This can not be easily done. A solution could be that I would receive the Unit ID, and look at the ID because NPC's are having their ID's build up differently then Players/Pets/Guardians.

But an simpler solution would be to use "Cast by hostile" in combination with "not Cast by a player". In this case only in PVP pets would get thru, but in PVE it should work good. 1 exception would be controlled players pets.

I'm working on a new version of AuraFrames and this would be a nice feature for version 2.

im trying to get buttonfacde but i see no effect
  • #159
Make sure you have a stable release of ButtonFacade. If it doesn't work please make a ticket including a list of all your addons and their version numbers (can be automatically done when creating a ticket via the Curse client)

Thank you for this addon :)
I can't seem to turn off Mind Control. Anybody have any ideas?

  • #155
    ok I feel stupid lol
I forgot that if I hit any other spell it will cancel my Mind Control.
  • #154
Maybe this is related but it seems I can't remove buffs while in combat.
Is there an option for this ?
  • #160
No, Blizzard prevent addons to cancel buffs in combat. Unless the addon makes use of a buff template but which is very limited in functionality. Aura Frames don't use those template (SecureHeaders)
  • #149
Also, any chance I could ask/suggest a specific feature that I found pretty nice with Satrina Buff Frames? The possibility to add a color change of the timer under the icons when a buff is about to expire, not only the flash of the icon itself. Like, if you have more than 15 (10,5, whatever you prefer) seconds left, the timer has the default color you specified, and when it's under that amount of time, to change to red (or just to a second, different color)?
