About Aura Frames

Aura Frames allows you to display any kind of buff or debuff on any given unit with highly customizable filtering, ordering, coloring and animation functionality.

The "engine" behind the screens is the LibAura that is specific written for AuraFrames that provide aura information over all the units and even more. It also include information over internal cooldowns, spell cooldowns, totems, weapon enchantments, testing units and more.

The filtering, ordering and coloring is unique. No addon has ever approach Aura Frames with the way the internal system is working. The most important difference is that Aura Frames is not checking realtime aura's on all properties but is generating real lau code blocks based on filtering, ordering and coloring that are parsed by WoW/Lua and are executed as native lua functions (for non nerds: its fast)!

It supports currently 3 ways of displaying aura's. Button, bar or timeline style.

  • Buffs and Debuffs on any unit (your self, target, pet etc)
  • Weapon enchantments
  • Spell cooldowns
  • Spell cooldowns of your pet
  • Item cooldowns
  • All internal item cooldowns (with a self learing functionality to detect the cooldown times)

  • Totems
  • Boss Mods (DXE and DBM are currently supported)

Console commands:

  • /af - Open the Aura Frames configuration (also available from the interface menu)
  • /affixdb - Tries to fix your Aura Frames database, use this before /afreset if you have problems (the addon need a /reloadui after this command)
  • /afreset - Will reset your whole database. Use this only if you have big problems

TIP: Shift right click an aura to dump the properties to the chat window. This will help you to create filters. (This only works when an container can be clicked).

    Hi, I'm using 1.2.4. I have a 'spells cooldown' bar and an 'item cooldown' bar. I noticed that the 'time remaining' text on them was smaller than I remembered, and tried to adjust them. However, no matter what font size adjustments I made, the size did not change. I was able to reposition the text without issues, however.

    This is an issue between Aura Frames and ButtonFacade. This will probably not be fixed in 1.x, 2.x have a complete new redesign on this.

    I have a small frame which only displays debuffs on myself cast by NPCs. It works flawlessly until I change targets (or select no target) at which point the debuffs often disappear.
    For example, tanking Riplimb (H. Shannox) I like to track Jagged Tear stacks/duration, but whenever I change targets the debuff disappears and won't reappear until I re-target Riplimb.
    The issue seems to be the frame only displays debuffs cast by your current target rather than any/all NPCs (not sure if this is a bug).

    There is not filter for NCP. Could you exactly describe your filter?

    Thanks for the reply.
    I've worked around the lack of NPC filter by setting "Cast by Player" to False. Some unwanted debuffs sneak through but it works well enough. Still, if I click off the source target that was responsible for casting a debuff, that particular debuff disappears.

    Hey. Just tried this addon for the first time and I like it pretty much. The config menu is very clean and intuitive. I had the same irritation like the other guy below with the white border and button facade but I found it after a while ;)
    One suggestion for the layout options though: I would like a possibility to grow the addons from the center and not only from the side of a container. I place the debuffs container directly on my character and if I only have one debuff I can place that in the middle but if I have 2 debuffs and more it grows off to one direction. It would be nice if I could place the container on my char and the icons would always center inside the container.

    Is there a way to change the width of the bars on a scale of 1 pixel instead of 10 at a time? If not, may you tell me what quick change I can do it to? Also, I use a solid border which requires to have border width setting of '1', but you only allow people to go down to '2'. May I also request this to be changed or at least know why You can only set it so low? Please and thank you.

    And change the 2 in 1 on line 189. Eg:

    BarBorderSize:SetSliderValues(2, 24, 1);


    BarBorderSize:SetSliderValues(1, 24, 1);

    How can I right click to cancel my buffs when fighting?

    Does not work, as Addons which filter buffs/debuff and cancel buffs do not fit together. It would be cool if a future version could handle this similar to the addon "Raven", though where you can specify an extra bar where certain named buffs are listed which can be clicked off (I like Aura Frames better than Raven due to other features, and currently have to install both addons in parallel, due to this).

    Does this mod give the option to somehow highlight dispelable buffs on a target unit? For example, could I set up a frame that shows me all short-term buffs on my target and highlights enrage effects, which I could dispel?

    Dispell buffs are a bit tricky, no support for it yet. But its on my todo list for 2.x

    Is there a way to filter spells cast by my pet? Or by unitid in general, so I could specify (unit=="pet" or unit=="player")
