About Aura Frames

Aura Frames allows you to display any kind of buff or debuff on any given unit with highly customizable filtering, ordering, coloring and animation functionality.

The "engine" behind the screens is the LibAura that is specific written for AuraFrames that provide aura information over all the units and even more. It also include information over internal cooldowns, spell cooldowns, totems, weapon enchantments, testing units and more.

The filtering, ordering and coloring is unique. No addon has ever approach Aura Frames with the way the internal system is working. The most important difference is that Aura Frames is not checking realtime aura's on all properties but is generating real lau code blocks based on filtering, ordering and coloring that are parsed by WoW/Lua and are executed as native lua functions (for non nerds: its fast)!

It supports currently 3 ways of displaying aura's. Button, bar or timeline style.

Supporting the following sources:

  • Buffs and Debuffs on any unit (your self, target, pet etc)
  • Weapon enchantments
  • Spell cooldowns
  • Spell cooldowns of your pet
  • Item cooldowns
  • All internal item cooldowns (with a self learing functionality to detect the cooldown times)
  • Mouse over
  • Test unit
  • Totems
  • Boss Mods (DXE and DBM are currently supported)

Console commands:

  • /af - Open the Aura Frames configuration (also available from the interface menu)
  • /affixdb - Tries to fix your Aura Frames database, use this before /afreset if you have problems (the addon need a /reloadui after this command)
  • /afreset - Will reset your whole database. Use this only if you have big problems

TIP: Shift right click an aura to dump the properties to the chat window. This will help you to create filters. (This only works when an container can be clicked).

    There is a small button next to the close button at the top right of the configuration window. You can always access this button (is there a long time :))

    I can't remove buffs while I am in a fight. Why?

    • Cancel buffs in combat doesn't work (Thanks Blizzard)

    So currenlty with Alpha release AF no longer work, Can I assume this is becuase of the update going on and it would be better to just use releases only?

    Scratch that I can't get any to work, guess that means I'm going to have to delete my lua file which is annoying as I don't want to remake my containers. I'll post the error on curseforge for you in case it's something that was overlooked.

    It should work, but there was a bug in the alpha with the database upgrade. I'll make a new alpha in a few min.

    Good to hear, I ran into the same error outside of my dev wow :) I'll close the ticket (that must be a record time for fixing a bug :P)

    In the last alpha we got finally internal cooldown support. Special thanks goes to Chaud from Curse for helping me out with compiling internal data from wowdb.com.

    Installed this via curse installer and nothing shows up.

    /af in chat window and zip.

    Am I doing something wrong?

    Awhile ago I started getting really, really awful fps lag during certain fights, and every time a challenge mode started. After a week of messing with turning off various addons, I identified Aura Frames as causing the problem. Based on the LUA errors I received, it is having some interaction with the world frame (where the timer for challenge mode shows, etc). I have had to disable Aura Frames ever since and I have not once had the problem come up. I'm sorry that I can provide so little information on it, I have no idea what would cause Aura Frames to cause this issue, but would it be possible to see a fix or update in the near future? I absolutely love this addon and want to be able to use it again.
