About Aura Frames

Aura Frames allows you to display any kind of buff or debuff on any given unit with highly customizable filtering, ordering, coloring and animation functionality.

The "engine" behind the screens is the LibAura that is specific written for AuraFrames that provide aura information over all the units and even more. It also include information over internal cooldowns, spell cooldowns, totems, weapon enchantments, testing units and more.

The filtering, ordering and coloring is unique. No addon has ever approach Aura Frames with the way the internal system is working. The most important difference is that Aura Frames is not checking realtime aura's on all properties but is generating real lau code blocks based on filtering, ordering and coloring that are parsed by WoW/Lua and are executed as native lua functions (for non nerds: its fast)!

It supports currently 3 ways of displaying aura's. Button, bar or timeline style.

Supporting the following sources:

  • Buffs and Debuffs on any unit (your self, target, pet etc)
  • Weapon enchantments
  • Spell cooldowns
  • Spell cooldowns of your pet
  • Item cooldowns
  • All internal item cooldowns (with a self learing functionality to detect the cooldown times)
  • Mouse over
  • Test unit
  • Totems
  • Boss Mods (DXE and DBM are currently supported)

Console commands:

  • /af - Open the Aura Frames configuration (also available from the interface menu)
  • /affixdb - Tries to fix your Aura Frames database, use this before /afreset if you have problems (the addon need a /reloadui after this command)
  • /afreset - Will reset your whole database. Use this only if you have big problems

TIP: Shift right click an aura to dump the properties to the chat window. This will help you to create filters. (This only works when an container can be clicked).

    There is no way to know ICD's, and Aura Frames does not ship with a static list of all known ICD's. so no, aura frames does not support this. Maybe some day tho.

    Positively love this add-on. It is highly flexible and very easy to layout and configure. I have a few things I'd like to do that, after much working on it, don't think is possible with Aura Frames, but seems like it should be. If you scope out my screenshot:

    You'll see I am tracking Beacon of Light. I am using Xorcist to do this (where all my other buff frames are AF), but would prefer to drop that and just use Aura Frames. I can get AF to do it, but only if I am, say, throwing BoL on my focus, in which case I make a frame for buffs by me on my focus, but this isn't what I want to do. I'd also like to run something similar for Prayer of Mending on my priest, and have the same problem since the buff moves around the raid. Seems like this same thing could be used for things like Dark Intent, Focus Magic, etc.

    Let me know if this makes sense. Would be happy to help test and give feedback if you need someone.

    Hey, good to hear you like the addon, I'm doing it for ppl like you :)

    As for your request, I totally agree that Aura Frames should support this at some point, but you are also the first one that has requested it and next to that I'm working on Aura Frames 2.0. So this will have a low priority but I made a ticket for this (http://wow.curseforge.com/addons/aura-frames/tickets/76-support-for-tracking-buffs-on-non-specified-units/) so that I won't forget it.

    That's cool, just wanted to throw it out there. I suspect most people use Xorcist like I do, but I kind of loath that addon, haha. Look forward to future versions!

    Bug when DK using timeline-cd effect!

    This occure almost every time for me, but weirdly only with DK. The CD "popup" effect stuck on the unholy skills on timeline. I have to reloadUI but it will start again in a couple of minutes. Could you please try to fix this? I've reported it before in the past. See picture!

    I didn't forget you, but I don't own a DK and it seems this is purely related to those spells. I started levelling one but its not going fast. I'll report back here when I know more.

    Seems like all green (unholy) spells? Once one of the attack stuck, and I push another unholy based skill and the "big" frame stick to the new spell on the timeline (on the new unholy based spell) and then stuck on the end again. And its not anymating of course it just on the highest size of the "popup" graph. Hard to explain but its easy really.

    Go to the configuration (/af) and open in the menu the bar, select layout => Size and Scale and there you will find an option for changing the number of aura's

    I can confirm this mod uses about 1/4 as much CPU and memory resources as Raven.

    Raven's features are a little more robust.  But Aura Frames is a really great addition too.

    I have skimmed through the posts, as well as instructions. I do not see any information on the ability to physically move the buffs around. I assume this is not possible, but please correct me if I am wrong. I see this is a rather popular addon, but in all honesty, I dont want to use it unless I can manually move the buffs / debuffs around on my UI as I see fit. Thanks for your time. =)

    2 options: Go to a container in the configuration and click the unlock button or click the button in the configurtion window next the the close [x] button. That will enable you to move the containers.
