About Auto Safari Hat

Auto Safari Hat alerts you if your Safari Hat isn't active when fighting wild pets and activates it when battling Pet Tamers. Additionally, it automatically accepts quests, starts battles, completes quests, and switches pet teams when you right-click on a Pet Tamer.

  • Notify user if missing Safari Hat for Wild Pet Battles.
  • If you have the quest for a Pet Tamer, automatically start the battle OR activate the Safari Hat buff.
  • Automatically switch to an appropriate battle pet team from PetBattleTeams when battling a Pet Tamer with the same name as an existing pet team; this feature defaults off.
  • Automatically pick up quests from tamers.
  • Automatically turn in quests to tamers.
  • Adds a key binding for users to activate their Safari Hat; this feature defaults off.
  • Automatically equip Guild Tabard for pet battles (to increase Guild Rep gain); this feature defaults off.
  • Attempt to return your tabard to the correct state when you are interrupted by combat.

All of the above functionality can be easily disabled through the Options menu. Just hit Escape and go to Interface -> Addons -> Auto Safari Hat. Alternatively, you could just type "/autosafarihat" or "/ash".

* Added additional calls to ASH_ButtonShow and additional checks to prevent its failure or repetition.
* Cleaned up conditional statements and made PetBattleType a slimmer state machine (single char).
* Fixed elusive capitalization typo made in v1.5.4.
* Fixed bug causing support for tamers with popup dialog boxes from working...

* Fixed typo preventing new support for tamers without popup dialog boxes from working.

* Added basic support for tamers without popup dialog boxes, including PetBattleTeams integration and tabard equipping.
* Added a warning message that occurs if you don't have the Safari Hat buff while having a Safari Hat in your inventory and starting a battle with a Pet Tamer who doesn't have a popup dialog box.
* Added support for cases where the team name includes the tamer's name (previously only supported the other way around).
* Fixed an error that could occur on tamers without popup dialog boxes.
* Cleaned up whitespace and alphabetized same-line variable declarations.

* Adjusted GetAddOnInfo returns to (mostly) fix PetBattleTeams integration.
* Inform the user if they do not have a Safari Hat in their bags and they try to use the secure button.
* Restricted tooltip reminders to wild battle pets.
* Fixed bug that occurred if unitID from GameTooltip:GetUnit() was nil.
* Resolve ticket #6 - add 1 second delay to beginning of tamer battles to allow team switching to occur.

* Added support for new DMF tamer and new Draenor tamers.

* Switched Static Popup box button hooks to a more versatile system (not based on displayed frames).

* Added button pushing simulation to fake tamer button.
* Add warning via OnTooltipSetUnit for not having the Safari Hat buff when mousing over a Battle Pet.
* Reorganize code into logical blocks; remove support for emptying pet slots as it can no longer be done.
* Hide fake tamer button when combat begins instead of when combat ends - secure system allows a small window to do this.
* Fixed multi-popup button cases; added button highlight simulation to fake tamer button.

The only thing I can think of is that maybe on the character selection screen the Addon is disabled for the Priest for some reason, or your Priest doesn't have her Safari Hat on her.

Great addon. Could you make an option to never equip the hat if all 3 active pets are level 25?  Even better, to only equip it after dealing the killing blow to the last pet so the hat is only on for the moment pet xp is gained. I think that gets you the boost. I ask this because I try to minimize any time spent missing important gear while battling on a pvp server.

Good idea. I'll look into this for sure soon, but it may not make it in until the Patch 5.4 version.

In your addon description it says

    • Optionally, automatically equip Guild Tabard for Wild Pet Battles (for Guild exp)
I'm currently not getting any guild XP for winning any wild pet battles O.o

You're right, I meant guild rep.

Love this addon, thank you for making it!

Just found this addon and love it.  Thank you!

Uploaded a new version as a beta because there are pretty huge changes (just in case something is broken; didn't want a repeat of the issues surrounding v1.1).

This version should hopefully, finally fix all issues related to Hats/Tabards being forgotten or misremembered due to server lag, computer lag, combat, and rapid target changing.

Will publish it as a release version if no major issues pop up within a day or two.

EDIT: Posted as release now; fingers crossed.

Just wanted to come and respond, thanks for continuing to perfect this addon, it seems the failsafes you put into this latest version have solved all the helm returning issues, much respect.

I will continue to use and post any updates I come across while using it.

I noticed with the elite pet fights (new in 5.2), sometimes my hat doesnt auto re equip itself. was working fine otherwise.

Any specifics on this? I couldn't recreate this issue, but my guildie was having the same problem.

Maybe a specific fight or something?

  • #32

Well, Im honestly not sure why it does it with the elites, but one thing I've noticed that glitches it sometimes is if you just click on a pet it equips the hat and then clicking off it attempts to remove it again. Sometimes if clicking pets while mounted or too quickly (clicking on and off the pet without fighting it) it loses track of it and keeps the hat on even after clicking it off.

The craziest thing is that, I re installed version 1.0 and I can spam click pets all day and it still remembers to put my original helm back on without an issue.

Great, thanks, and thanks for making/maintaining a useful addon.  (I see there's already one for the Chef's Hat, which I should get.)

  • #27

Is there any way to have the hat equipped when batting the tamers with only the first option ticked?

  • #25

Update, seems to work properly if I DO check "Automatically battle tamers...".  Sorry, I should have experimented more first.  I still have Automatic Pickup/Turn-in unchecked.
