i just personally feel that it would be better let spam go wild maybe then blizzard would do something for it etc banning non authenticator accounts speaking in public chats or just something

Blizzards stance on spam is "report it", the spam was wildly out of control prior to the launch of the wow token and they did nothing to spam that wasn't reported.

seen how much reporting spammers made effect on how many spammers there is in chat ? me neither ,

Prior to the disconnect bug being fixed there was no reason to report them in fear of being punished for it by disconnecting.

I've temporarily re-enabled the option to hide links as I don't have much time to work on it further at the moment. I'm probably going to remove links entirely and have a little button show in the chat frame itself when there's spam to report. Or maybe a minimap icon.

To the people complaining about the links I must once again ask that you not use this option and actually click the links which will remove them from your chat frame and report the hacked accounts at the same time.

Thanks Funkydude, I find that decision a smart one.

Perhaps giving us a set of choices in options would be better and would please everyone.

#1 Report links (as we do have now). #2 Report button with option to move it around and lock it in that position. #3 Disable reports.

You won't see people raging around anymore, if you give them option to disable reports. Personally I like your idea "forcing" people to report, but ignorance is too powerful these days. :)

    Thanks Mmkx.

Atleast someone that made this addon back to its normal state...

@funkydude: I thought this addon was all about removing spam from the chatlog and not adding some pink... oh wait its green now.. Some green spam to the chatlog.. Tbh your latest decision in removing this hide spam option is a dumb move. You are losing people subbed to your addon this way.

"Blocking and reporting spam" not "blocking and ignoring spam". Ignoring the problem doesn't resolve it, it just lets the spammers continue to abuse hacked accounts. Calling 1 message in your chatframe spam is also odd. If you have a better idea for a reporting method, let me know.

As Natlyz says it became a annoyance as you fight against the spammers and the addon... Why not make a option it auto reports and it ignores them or shows you a manual report... But the current state is just ***** over :(

This addon was created with auto reporting, it was Blizz that decided to prevent addons auto reporting and require the click of a mouse button to do it. What do you mean by manual reporting? Isn't that what clicking a link is?

It was "you vs spammers".. now it's becoming "you vs spammers, vs addon users".

I'm afraid people will start removing chunks of your code.

The best way to fight spam is not reporting it but promoting the use of your addon.

If none can see them spamming they aren't spamming :)

That still doesn't get hacked accounts closed fast and returned to their owners.

If everyone used the addon, spammers would just check their spam against this addon before posting (they already do in many cases, hence the need for updates).

Like stated in the option to hide report links, the best way to affect everyone is to report them, because that gets them chat banned, which helps non-badboy users as much as it does badboy users.

The latest release changes the look of the report link to look less ugly as recommended by posters here. It also fixes an issue where report links could appear more frequently than the 1 minute lockout period if you clicked the report link.
