About BadBoy_Levels: Filter Whispers By Level
BadBoy_Levels is a plugin to BadBoy, the anti spam addon. It works by using lists:
- Good: Friends/Guild & everyone above the level you choose
- Bad: Anyone below and equal the level you choose (default 1)
Simply, if a "bad" person whispers you, the whisper is blocked (hidden), then you send them a whisper (also hidden) of what level they must be for you to see their whispers.
I decided to separate this addon as it's not a feature everyone wants.
Can I change the filter level to be higher than 1?
Yes, type /badboy ingame.
What's changed in v2?
The core lookup system has changed. Instead of using Who on players that whisper you, they are momentarily added to your friends list, so that their level can be retreived, then removed. This was done because:
- Using Who was untrustworthy, if a player with a short name like "Ka" whispered you, you might not see it.
- Using Who has a cooldown, if you had lots of whispers at the same time, they would be significantly delayed.
- Using who took away the ability for the player to use Who at that point in time.
Please help with localization here!

Hello! Long time user of badboy (my fave :D) and other privacy addons. Recently I noticed a few that interact in a way that kills how it works.
Example: Badboy Levels and inviteblock don't seem to get along. I get a random guild invite with an auto-whisper( I really hate those automatic random guild invite addons) Inviteblock stops the invite and sends an auto tell back then Badboy kicks in and slaps em in the face telling them they need to be lvl 100 to whisper me (Yes, I set it at an impossible level intentionally).
However, because of the auto-tell from inviteblock, I'm guessing that's where the issue lies, Badboy's response is futile as it seems to count as me actually whispering them myself. Then I get the responces like "gay addon" and others just because they don't like being stopped in their tracks.
Badboy also interacts with other addons in a similar way. Perhaps if you can find it in your busy schedule to somehow make it so it only looks at whispers you actually type (not even sure if thats possible or not) and one doesn't accidently allow someone to break through...
I contemplated getting rid of my other addons, but sadly Blizzard hasn't given us all the social block options yet and i happen to like not having to look at chat or speak to random people who invite/guild invite/request charter sig/trade/request duel.
Thanks for a great addon and keep up the good work :)
It's up to the addon author to properly support chat filters, which he/she is not doing in this case.
Also, there's a built in function in WoW to block guild invites, in the Interface panel.
local whisp = "Your custom msg here."
I use something like this person does not accept msgs from people not in guild or friends list.
DK's are static at level 58 even if you set it to a higher value, I'll fix this in the next version.
