About Battle Pet Binds

Battle Pet Binds is a very small addon that does exactly what is stated: lets you change the key bindings for Pet Battles without affecting your normal keybinds. Additionally, Battle Pet Binds adds new key bindings for forfeiting, passing your turn, and changing pets. This lets you actually play pet battles entirely with the keyboard alone instead of having to use both keyboard and mouse. Alternatively, there is even support for you to bind everything to the mouse instead, allowing pet battles to be played without the keyboard.

Addon Default Binds

First action button: 1
Second action button: 2
Third action button: 3
Swap Pet menu: 4
Trap enemy pet: 5
Swap to First Pet: F1
Swap to Second Pet: F2
Swap to Third Pet: F3
Pass Turn: T
Forfeit Match: F

  • Note that you do not need the Swap Pet menu open to use the F1-F3 keys. They will automatically change pets for you seamlessly.
  • Note there is no confirmation dialogue for forfeiting a match when using the F key. This is intentional to reduce wasted click time, but just be careful you do not forfeit a match you did not want to.

Changing the Default Binds

Changing the default bindings is now super simple!

Just hit Escape, click on Interface, then click on the Addon tab on the top, and then click on "Battle Pet Binds". Alteratively, you could type "/battlepetbinds". Now, you're at the main options panel and can bind keys with ease by clicking on the button you want to bind and then pressing the key you want.

Yeah, it looks like the Pet Tracker author did something silly. It was easy to fix though because I was doing something equally silly.

I've posted a new release to Curse with the fix but it may take a few hours to show up (they have to approve it first).

New release just posted. Now, you no longer need to edit any files or code.

Just open up the options menu from the Interface panel or with the new slash commands (/battlepetbinds or /petbinds) and everything is easy and straightforward after that!

Additionally, all known bugs are fixed (or at least attempted to be fixed).

Can't find it in the interface/addons list nor does the /battlepetbinds or /petbinds work for some reason :(

Redownloaded and replaced the one I had.  Works now, TY!

Make sure it is enabled in the AddOn list and that you have the latest version.

If it still doesn't work, hit escape and then go to Interface-->Game-->Help and check the box for "Display Lua Errors". Then log out and log back in.

You should get an error message of some sort - it would be great if you could provide information on what type of error is occuring.

I am having one problem with this... if I get pulled out of a pet battle by combat, the binds don't go back to normal.  Is there any way that you can do a fix for this?  Currently, I am having to conduct the combat by mouse clicking my combat keys... I then have to either log out and back, reload the UI or enter a new pet battle to fix my key binds.

I realize that this is probably not something that came up when you created and tested the add on, but thought that you should know about it.

Interesting - I just assumed that naturally Blizzard would fire a PET_BATTLE_CLOSE event when the pet battle ends due to combat... I guess they don't.

Edit: Uploaded a potential fix as an alpha version: Battle Pet Binds r4. It should appear in an hour or two over on the project site.

"Bound keys now show their currently assigned key in the upper-right corner of the key during Pet Battles." is highly appreaciated but adding CTRL or ALT makes the text too long.  It only shows CT for CTRL-F.  Maybe make the text show "c+F" or "C+f" instead?
