About BidManiac
BidManiac is a World of Warcraft addon used to automate and simplify the process of bidding for items in a raid, group, or other situation. Manual auctioning can take very long, and BidManiac is aimed directly at reducing the amount of time consumed by this nontrivial process.
It is specifically intended to expedite the process of bidding using DKP. The addon will handle notifying the raid/party/other of the current item being auctioned, record bids via /w from users, and then output the winner after a set time period.
Features include: - Public (high bidders shown) and anonymous auctions - Fully adjustable timing - Simple interface - Enable or disable tie bids - Set minimum bid - Set minimum bid increment (makes the auction go faster).
Updated to initial Cataclysm compliance. There is still some work I want to accomplish before calling it good, but it should at least work.

I miss it soooo much.
Additional feature that would be amazing would be that if an item fails to sell that it asks for a /roll instead of DE and some way of tracking that with the addon would be handy.
Although there are plenty roll trackers out there.
We use silent bidding in our guild. I know you can turn off announcments of WHO the highest bidder is, but there is still a message saying "New high bid is 60" or something like that. In our guild we like to keep all this silent, but I still want the functionality of being able to record who bid what and have the addon sort out exactly who won and with what bid.
Also the addon works well with Quick Dkp v2 which is the DKP addon I use. The only problem is that there is no way of quickly seeing how much DKP a certian member has when they are bidding. If Bidmaniac could scan the Officer's note for a person's Net DKP, and report back if they try to bid over their max, that would be awesome.
Although it looks like this addon has not been updated in quite a while, so hopefully the Author will renew interest in this project, I'm silently hoping he will :D
(1) Find the Bidmaniac.xml file. If you open it... it will most likely open in Internet explorer. I couldnt find a way ti edit in IE, if you can... good for you, you probably dont need this help anyways, otherwise, remember where this file is... thats the first step: find and remember where the file is.
Notepad...
Open and find the Bidmaniac.xml file... you remember it from step1, right? (Note: in the bottom right of the file-search-window, you may have to specify All Files instead of the standard .txt file extension) Once you found it, open it...
(4)Huge amount of code should pop up. Dont freak out, Now, i counted the first line you'll need to change, its the 62nd line down, if you'd rather not count, See how there is (near the top, the 6th line down)
We'll call this a layer (I dont know if thats the right term, but thats what were calling it) (coincidently, youll notice with more code under it, thats not what I'm talking about)
(5) Scroll down until you see:
and right under that is
and the next line under that is:
(6) Well... we need to insert:
="OptionsButtonTemplate"
to change it to:
That line is done!
(7) Now scroll down to the next "BidManiac_SelectAllButton")
You'll notice that is already has this inherits thing... for some reason, this line was coded right, and all the others didnt get this inherits thing.... :( now we have to go make the other
(8) ok, so scroll down until you see another "BidManiac_StopButton"
(9) Notice that this one doesnt have that inherits thing either! so we have to insert:
inherits="OptionsButtonTemplate"
again, to make this button happy... so the entire line of code should look like:
(10) Now... I've walked you through step by step 3 of these 't worry about it, not important.
We've already done the:
(11-16)And now it's your turn to do the next 5.... which will be:
Save As.... Find your original Bidmaniac.xml file (From step1, right?) Click it to highlight it, and type in the "File Name:" field-(kind of near the bottom):
BidManiac.xml
and save it!
(18) Almost done.... close out of Notepad
(19) Go back to the bidmaniac folder and find the BidManiac.toc file... open it with Notepad (if you have to, open Notepad first, then File--Open, but it should defaultly open with Notepad)
(20) At the top... the very first line... ##Interface: 20400
You need to change that to:
##Interface: 30800
(Note: This is the current game version. If WoW updates to say... patch 3.1.2 You'll probably have to come back to this TOC file and edit that number to be 31200)
(21) Save it...
(22) It should work now! (/die if it doesnt... you probably either editted the wrong line, or made a typo... good luck finding it)
Note: This isnt a complete fix, the slider bars kind of run into each other, but its certainly live-able.
Again, Thank You Piopoo!! (See comments below, he is the one who posted the fix! I just explained it to the other morons like myself...)
Hopefully the community can keep this addon alive, I wish I understood the language enough to adopt it, working on it, but its hard with so little guides out there...
Good Luck, sorry for the long post, tried to explain it as best as possible... Can never tell how dumb people may be (myself included)
If you can't figure out what I meant in any of the above... Reply and I'll try and clarify.
Again, Thank You so much Piopoo!
Diggit
In the BidManiac.xml file, modify each line containing the Button element. All you need to do is add
inherits="OptionsButtonTemplate"
Put this in there for each Button
i.e. Button name="BidManiac_CloseButton" inherits="OptionsButtonTemplate" text="Close"
Please someone fix it, im lost without it. we use this alongside QDKP2 and since 3.0.2 is totally broken *sobs*
Really hope to see this excellent mod working again soon, it's the best auction mod out there!
Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the update. Orcish support added in 2.1.3.
In your code the language used for the whispers is set to "commom". For Horde-players it should be "orcish", otherwise you get a "you cannot speak that language" back.
