About BigWigs Bossmods
Introduction
Big Wigs is a boss encounter add-on. It consists of many individual encounter scripts, or boss modules; mini add-ons that are designed to trigger alert messages, timer bars, sounds, and so forth, for one specific raid encounter. These encounter scripts are activated when you target or mouse over a raid boss, or if any other Big Wigs user in your raid does. In most cases only one module will be running at any given time.
If you're looking for boss encounter scripts for 5-man dungeons, these are not in Big Wigs proper, but live in their own add-on: Little Wigs.

Transcripts and combat logs
If you want to help us out with a new boss encounter that was recently introduced to the game, you can get our Transcriptor add-on that helps you record raw, relevant data for each encounter. Your help is appreciated, and also needed! Compressed output from Transcriptor may be uploaded alongside a ticket, or dumped on sites such as dump.no and linked from a ticket. Or you can even e-mail it to one of the authors.
But if you don't care for Transcriptor, a simple /combatlog will also help. Don't forget to tell us what raid size, difficulty, and encounter the log is for.
Features
Plug-ins
- Messages: Can be moved, coloured, locked, outputted to all kinds of different text areas.
- Bars: Can be moved, skinned to different textures (SharedMedia compatible), resized & also have an 'emphasis' feature to flash and move to a different anchor when they are about to expire.
- Raid icons: Target painting (put an icon over a player that has been singled out by the boss).
- Boss Block: Suppress Blizzard boss emotes.
- Sound: Plays various sounds on different events (SharedMedia compatible).
- LibDataBroker/Minimap: Button for easy access to the configuration menu, resetting running modules, and seeing what modules are active.
Extras
- Proximity: For displaying players within a certain range on certain boss encounters.
- Test: Test and preview your bars and warnings configuration, and move them around.
- CustomBar: For 'pizza timers', create your own custom bars.
- Flash: Flash the screen blue when something important happens that directly affects you, such as a debuff.
- Clickable bars: Lets you define left/middle/right click actions for your timer bars.
- Super Emphasise: Any encounter ability you want to be extra vigilant of, you can enable Super Emphasise to get a voiced countdown and more.
Ancient project history
Tekkub, the original BigWigs1 for Ace1 author - back in the MC days, was inspired to write BW1 after his very first raid. He was horrified by the massive amount of spam his raid leader was creating with his boss mod. Getting messages all over the place for things he didn't care about (Hunters can't dispel a curse or interrupt a heal - well, they couldn't back then). He also found that the "60 seconds until painful doom" timer messages were such a waste. Why not use a simple timer bar to show this?
Our goals
Big Wigs aims to be as efficient as possible (creating a lower memory per second footprint and using a lower amount of CPU than any other boss mod). When modules are written, every aspect of the encounter is inspected. Is add-on synchronisation required? Is target scanning required? What events are really needed? We also aim to have the latest encounter scripts released ASAP; not long after the first few attempts of a brand new boss, we usually have a working encounter script for it.

Proximity: If you open a custom proximity/range before a boss, and then it changes for a boss spell with a different range, it will now automatically reopen the previous custom range after it's finished being used, rather than just closing.

Hello, i want to ask you about module for Brawlers guild. It is anywhere in options and im blind or it isnt contained in BW?
The latest release adds exact X/Y positioning for bars/proximity/altpower and expands on the boss block module to add blocking for intrusive garrison popups during a boss fight.
There is some small additional and changes that would be very nice for this addon.
Boss: - Imperator Mar'gok <Sorcerer King>
1. (Branded) "Branded on <player>"
Note:would be nice to add amount seconds to blow up after player name "branded on <player> (8 sec)"
Additional: would be nice with some personal "BAR" regards debuffs on yourself Branded/Mark etc...
like saying (maybe with an different voice) 5... 4... 3... 2... 1... (boom?)
2. (Mark of Chaos: <player>) = Raid warning.
Note. for phase 1,2 + 4 it would be nice with an (SAY) warning "<player> affected by Mark of chaos"
Additional: During phase 3 there should be an Say/Rw saying "DANGER - Mark of Chaos ON ME" (example).
This is so that people can QUICKLY move away since ppl only move when they see a say message...
For future reference, it's better to submit a ticket for requests. Having a dialogue here is annoying.
1) Adding the duration is silly as it never changes (4s). Branded is it's own option with a "Branded on YOU!" bar that you can emphasize for the countdown. Emphasize by default might be a good idea, though.
2) There is a say when the tank gets rooted. For the other phases, it is the tank's job to move, not the rest of the raid, so having a say to warn people around the tank is pointless. For visibility the tank is marked (in addition to being huge) and a proximity is shown so people can see where the marked tank is and if they should move.
I am not sure if i'm missing it, so is there a pvp module for bigwigs? I want to change over from DBM, but not sure I can cause of the value of it's pvp module. Especially since the addon I use to use isn't working now (capped...capping...whatever it was called lol). If no pvp module, does anyone have a suggestion on a stand-alone? Thanks
Hmm, I haven't used Capping in a while, didn't realize it was broken. I'll look into getting what's wrong with it fixed.

Is there a way to skin the timers to look like the timers on THIS Video( @6:50) I havnt had a chance to download and try it, but the timers that that guy uses, is amazing. Do you know of a way or can you do it currently?
Yeah there's quite a lot of different BW users in that video... but I'm going to guess you meant the style with the thin bars. That is part of the default selectable styles in the options.
Can u please add an option to make the Super Emphasize Countdown Text bigger then the current maximum 40?
As far as we can tell, the font size doesn't actually increase even when setting higher levels.
Its really annoying that when I step into the cloud on Tectus i spam "Cloud on Me!" chat messages. I tried turning off the crystalline barrage option and it doesnt fix it anyway, but i want that on, i want to announce when the spell is targetted on me. I however do NOT want it to say when i step into the cloud, its too spammy, and confuses people into thinking i have the debuff when I dont. How do I turn this off?
That's not BigWigs (our say is "Barrage on Player!"), that's a broken WeakAura you have.

I'm very new to BigWigs (been a DBM user forever) but BW is really growing on me. My only question is how do I go about editing bar / notification positions to exact coordinates? I found the settings lua but the coordinates seem strange. Do they go by the center of the screen being 0 (X) and 0 (Y)? It doesn't seem like it.
I just want my bars and such to be 100% perfectly aligned. Thanks in advance!
